Dear friends
Is there any way to change special folders location specially "Program files", "My Documents"
I have tried changing the registry KEY
""HKLM\Explorer\Shell folders""
but it didn't work
thanks in advance
Can I ask, change them to what & why do you need to change them?
I've changed "\program files" to "\storage card\program files"
why? .......
to gain extra space !!!!!

idpro - couldn't you just use cabinst to install programs as required to storage card. Remember that some programs have issues running off storage card, particularly at first boot (ie soft reset).
V
cabinst for "program files"
what about "my documents" folder ,,, etc ..
Yesterday I did hard reset on my magician, I installed few frograms (Pocket Plus, Wisbar Advance 2..) and today after each soft reset I'm getting this error message:
"Cannot find IA_CID_StartUP.exe... "
I found shortcut of this file in Windows\StartUp folder but where is the original file (I didn't find the file with Resco Explorer) and where the original file needs to be (which folder)?
What's this all about, and does anyone knows how to fix this problem?
Thank you!
in the windows folder

Can you send me this file on my e-mail?
Problem solved!
I've deleted IA_CID.. shortcut file from Startup folder, and now everything works perfect (no error message anymore). I wonder what purpose has this missing exe file; I hope - nothing important 8)
yeah.
How do I do this?
u can edit registry
u can do it by editing the registry entries for "\application data" into "\storage card\application data" in all entries EXCEPT "\HKLM\system\FileSys" LEAVE IT AS IT IS or else u ll b stuck at startup.
then copy folder contents into sdcard

Only other entry I found was "\HKLM\System\Explorer\Shell Folders".
I modified the value to "\Storage Card\Application Data" and I see no change. I am specifically interested in getting this working for Microsoft OneNote Mobile
good day
can someone tell me how to move the cahe folder of opera browser from the phone memory to the card memory i have an hd blackston wm 6.1
thanks
Hi there,
you can try the following (sourced from mobilitysite.com):
Move data and cache around to save memory
By default Opera installed a bunch of files and keeps cache in precious application data space (RAM). At least with the WM2003se version. By moving all of these files to a CF Card or SD memory stick you free up valuable RAM.
1) Edit the "Opera.ini" file located in "\Application Data\Opera"
2) Go to the "[User Prefs]" group
3) Change "Opera Directory=\Application Data\Opera" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera"
4) Change "Help Directory=\Application Data\Opera\Help" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera\help"
5) Move the following files and folders to the location that you specified above:
cach4 (folder)
help (folder)
imgcss (folder)
startpage (folder)
styles (folder)
chartables.bin
cookies4.dat
global.dat
opcacrt6.dat
opera.dir
oprand.dat
opssl6.dat
viger.dat
vlink4.dat
You are left with these files/folders in "\Application Data\Opera"
skin (folder)
opera6.adr
input.ini
opera.ini
english.lng

Try connecting via Activesync on your PC to locate the Opera.ini file, not through File Explorer, Resco Explorer, or Total Commander. If you still cannot find the file, on your PC, go to the Control Panel, Folder Options. In Folder Options on the View tab, under Hidden Files and folders, select the Show Hidden Files and Folders radio option, click OK.
1.Connect your phone to your computer, and connect to ActiveSync.
2.Open the ActiveSync window, then click the Explore Device button.
3.Navigate to \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
4.Find the opera.ini file (If you don't have file extensions enabled, it should just show as "opera".)
5.Copy the file to your desktop.
6.Open the file in a text editor, such as Notepad. Immediately do a File>Save as and rename the file to something other than opera.ini. This is your backup, just in case.
7.Now open the original opera.ini file. Scroll down to the [User Prefs] section and insert the following line: Cache Directory4=\Storage Card\operacache\. (Note: "operacache" can be renamed to anything you want.) Save and close the file.
8.Copy the new file back to your device, into the same \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
I'm not aware of any other ways to get around this.

Hi Abiis,
Yes. Unfortunately, this will affect the speed of your browser. I'm not saying you should try this, all I have done is posted a possible solution in reference to your query. I personally wouldn't recommend putting the cache on the storage card as this will result in slowing down the browser and possibly make it crash more often.
It is entirely up to you whether you try this but if you do not want a slow and laggy browser, then I would suggest you avoid doing this.
Good luck

No problem man, anytime
solution found, thread closed by request
Googlemaps, footprints, compass and the sd card.
In response to a PM request, I made a cab for someone to allow googlemaps to run from the sd card yet keep the system integration, and not need to be reinstalled every hard reset, thus keeping starred places, saved journeys and such like.
The attached cab loads pre configured vjbrisk (all credit goes to vjbrisk) files into your phones \program files\googlemaps\ folder, which redirects the system to \storage card\program files\googlemaps\
It also sets the registry entries for file associations (.kmz files and what-not)
After a quick restart of the phone you should find that 'show address on map' in contacts works, the compass app should have a 'set destination' option (this may be dependant on your compass app version, not sure) and you can open up locations from footprint image pages.
To install googlemaps the first time, just install as normal, but choose sd card.
Next time you hard reset / flash a new rom, you do not need to reinstall googlemaps, just the fakegooglemaps2sd.cab
On the sd card, in \Storage Card\application data\googlemaps\ there are some files (and the cache folder, ignore that.) which hold your googlemaps favourites / starred places and such.
If those files are disturbed, googlemaps will crash and not load. You can fix it easily by simply installing googlemaps again.
If you want to put googlemaps somewhere other than \storage card\program files\googemaps, edit the cab, edit the content of googlemapsLNK.lnk, and edit the paths in the registry entries.
(Note for cooked rom users, theres a good chance your rom already allows this so you don't need this, have a read of your rom description)
I only tested it briefly, and it works for the person I made it for, so I didn't test further.
