Any possible way to get stock blur text messaging on Fission? - Droid X General

Any possible way to get stock blur text messaging on Fission? I dont like ASOP version and with the blur one it gave you the option to resize a video so you could send it thru MMS. Which I used ALOT..
I hope it can be possible

You will need to check the fission thread. Usually with roms such as fission that have blur stripped out, it is not possible to add back in blur components at will. This is because the blur apks tied into purge blur resources and services that no longer exist in fission

Just wait a little longer. Angdroid is working on the Fused line of roms that will allow for some blur based stuff to come back.

i figured as much

[DISCUSS] Blur-less ROM Comparisons? [With List/Links]

In the last couple of weeks, we've seen a lot of advancements in ROM releases for the X. I don't want to start some kind of flame-war here, but just wondering who has run all, or multiple variations of the available Blur-less ROMS and their opinion of each.
I know of these ROMS:

Anyone care to weigh in on their experiences?
I decided to go an make this a list of Blur-less ROMS with links. While most of these have homes other than XDA, I tried to put both the XDA thread link and the "home" link.
Since we are discussing here... I always wanted to know what was the reason you could not remove BLUR??
I mean.. I know the phone wouldn't boot if you removed it WITHOUT a acceptable replacement.
Like I know I removed HTC Sense UI back in the before time and my phone boot looped because I didn't have a another Launcher to replace it with... could this be the same thing?? Could we remove BLUR apps as long as we have a acceptable replacement??
EX. Remove Blur Dialer and replace with Dialer One...or remove Blur Home and replace with LauncherPro....

I have blur home removed and replaced with launcher pro. Do at your own risk though. I know nothing of any other changes that are ok as of yet. I haven't gotten that far.

I'm personally on RubixFocused 0.5 and think it's just great. But I would like to know if some of the others would be worth trying, or if they are all more or less the same.
I know of these ROMS:
1 - Tranquility (Are all of the current ROMS based off of this one?)
2 - Rubix
3 - zapX (Tempted to try this one just because of the name )
4 - Apex

Nice question.
To me the Theme/Rom's do seem very similar. They for the most part delete or freeze a lot of the "blur" packages.
The statement by most chefs is "It's faster". OK how much faster then a 2.2 OTA,rooted, 928Droid themed phone???
Is the boot time "way" faster .Do apps activate in split seconds???
EDIT: Flash Fixed
I hesitate to try the Theme/Roms because most seem to have glitches like "Flash not fully functioning so that I can view weather and radar maps ,as an example.
Zapx does peak my interest though....
I've said it in 2 other forums. The zapX rom is awesome. Its the fastest I've used and I have had just about all of them. To me its about how fast everything reacts. From opening the app drawer, tilting the phone, to activating the camera, which you all know typically takes 4 or 5 seconds. With zapX all of it is almost instantaneous. That's my 2 cents for what its worth.
And by the way. I've had no problems with flash on zapX, only issue was with weatherbug and it was fixed by the creator within a day...

I prefer ApeX. Nearly 100% AOSP. It's the closest thing yet..
I just went from zapX to Apex, to me Apex is snappier, and boots up faster.
they are all pretty much the same but zapX seems to be a little slower than the rest for some reason.
You know you can optimize your apks with xUltimate and essentially your stock ota will be just as snappy.
Add a lil MinFree love... and BOOM!!

Yeah, if you pay nearly five bucks for it and I'm poor, spent all my money on the DX, lol. The free version will run the batch restore but you have to click "Install" and the "Done" for each and every app...it would be easier to write down all my apps and settings on a piece of paper than F with that, lol.

+1 I played with CM6 for a bit yesterday. I do like Sense better but CM6 is more customizable and you can OC it. I do wish Liberated had a kernel that's compatible with setcpu. I also hope attn1 can find the solution for trackpad wake. Other than that, I'm happy with Liberated =)
Is the sense rom acting slow for anyone? Its really laggy on my aria...
And how far does cm6 oc to?

when the official update comes out, we will have an updated kernel to work with. And eventually HTC will release the sources - and hopefully someone will build a solid OC kernel.
I'm sticking with FRXXX for a while. I am settled on using Sense, though I do believe battery consumption is higher with Froyo. No solid proof, just a perception. Maybe it is because I am spending so much time in my phone. Not on my phone...IN my phone. After a failed CM flash, I had to redo all of my home screens and redo all of my settings. That was enough to make me not want to change again.
i had the 806 overclock kernel posted elsewhere on this site running with liberated fr. didn't really see any speed difference. phone is plenty speedy with fr06. did have some issues with browser crashing so switched back to default fr06 kernel.
I'm running CM6.1 overclocked to 806, there are a few things that I have noticed as far as speed improvement goes. No lag between screens, 3D app drawer is insanely fast, app launching is a bit faster, that's all I have seen so far. I loved Sense when I first got the phone, but now using a more Vanilla like layout, I don't think I would go back to it.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Thats one of the things though, I don't know if I will feel comfortable leaving sense, I loaded cm6 with 2.2 froyo and it was nice and all, but the fb syncronization and weather and all that left me feeling empty
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
I didnt think i could live without sense when i first got my aria so i put off flashing cm6 for a while and ran the liberated roms for a while. But i finally gave in to see what all the fuss was about with CM6. I was missing sense for a little while until i started to discover everything i could do with the cm6 rom. Once I started digging into the customization and discovering all that the cm6 rom has to offer I started to realize that I would never want to go back to sense. Admittedly it took a while to get used to the look and feel of cm6 and not having sense but now I dont miss it what so ever. And when I did flash one of the latest liberated roms a couple weeks ago just see how it was coming along I immediately missed cm6 and flashed back. And the newest update to 6.1 is the best this rom has ever been.
And there are alternatives to the sense weather widgets available for cm6, and as far as fb goes, i have fb synced on cm6. Definitely no problems there.

interresting - i'm running liberated FR006 and happy with it. From what i've seen of standard froyo and CM6, a main thing i dont like is the contacts manager/people app. i like how the Sense UI integrates the "groups" from your gmail contacts. I may flash CM6 and try it for a few days., but i am very happy with liberated.

When i first log into the fb app it asks me if i want to sync. From that point on fb shows up in Menu>Accounts & Sync, where I can then turn on/off sync for fb (and google as well).
I've been running the CM6.0.1-RC1-Liberty for several days now. I really like it a lot! Especially the built in music player, the power control widget is brilliant!, and virtually everything internal to the phone is customizable in the settings. However, apps keep restarting by themselves, even after running the set permissions feature that automatically re-configures every app on the phone. Also, the SIM tool box is missing, so I can't access any of my contacts. Any contacts that are installed automatically sync to g-mail. I keep my contacts on the SIM specifically to protect the privacy of my contacts! I am sure they don't want their information synced to g-mail servers. While there may be a feature in the myriad of settings options to keep this from happening, I couldn't find it.
Today, I am going to flash to the Liberated Froyo with sense. Depending on what I get in terms of default apps, and most importantly, speed, I may add the Overclocking kernal as well. By Sunday, I should be able to make a decision as to which one I plan on keeping permanently. (I will move the contacts from the SIM to the phone this time, in case I want to go back to CM6!)
I will post my opinions as to which one of the two ROMs I like the best on Sunday after comparing.

Pulling hair out trying to decide what rom for girlfriend..

I have been snooping around and finally feel comfortable enough to root this phone. She gets off work here in a few hours and were gonna run to the store and pick it up. She sees me messing with my fascinate all the time, flashing this and that and wants me to customize her phone as well. Mainly she wants a Pink theme. I was planning on flashing a custom rom then grabbing a theme, but the development on this phone is out of control lol, you guys have so many more options. I want to keep the phone as stock as possible, and want to retain the blur aspects. She isn't going to be able to troubleshoot the phone on her own if I'm not with her and she has problems, so something very stable, and again, stock-ish.
Would I be better doing a manual deodex on her stock rom and flashing a theme ontop of that? Or are your themes rom specific?

If something goes wrong and she is not able to trouble shoot it, things can get ugly pretty quick with a custom ROM and what not. Not that it happens all the time, not that it happens other then small bugs and quirks but I would be pissed if my phone was not propertly working and no one was around to fix it.
Themes are ROM specific for the X unless you go with a theme for stock ROM, which could be found here. Staying as close to stock, this would be your best bet. There are other icons and animations you can add with Ninjamorph and by placing files here and there and all it takes it being rooted.
I think a rooted, bloat free Droid X is almost just as quick as a custom ROM. You can add little icons packs, stock themes to really customize it. It would be as if you are running a custom ROM.
Thanks, if I can find a theme girlish enough for her I might just go with that.
If I root will she be able to receive ota updates? Im pretty sure after flashing custom roms she will no long be able to access the ota updates, but what about just plain ole rooted stock phones?

Great rom! Built by drod2169. If your gf decides she likes some of the blur components he also built a "blurry" version with some blur in it.

Yes, Rubix is a great rom but you might also want to consider Liberty 1.5. It is also a blurless rom and so far has been running great on my phone. I have tried several roms including rubix and always come back to liberty. It is by far more customizable than any other rom out there. There are also a couple of girly themes that I believe were just ported over.
I would also suggest Liberty 1.5
Primarily so you GF could load this theme:

I put this on my Wife's D2 and she loves it.
She doesn't like that theme, but it is a very nicely done complete theme... Still leaning towards rubix, will research liberty more though.

[Q] What dialer is in the EB01 version of Superclean?

I know this is somewhat sacrilegious, but even though I hate touchwiz, I really prefer the Samsung dialer over the AOSP dialer or the all black GB style dialers. It's my understanding that the dialer is part of the contacts app, is that the case? If so, is there an .apk out there of the EB01 contacts app? Could I flash the stock EB01, pull the contacts app out, and then load Superclean and add it back in? Will any .bins or other files be required? If so, it may be over my head for now, although it's what will probably push me over the edge to learn actual android dev stuff instead of just enjoying the work of others. Am I completely wrong about this? Will adding the Samsung contacts app back into an AOSP or Superclean rom work?
Even though it is my 4th Android phone, I'm new to the Fascinate and don't know the pre-froyo roms at all. Where any of the pre-froyo roms mash-ups of the few good Samsung bits mixed with AOSP parts and minus bloat? If so, hopefully we'll see Froyo/EB01 versions soon.
Superclean has the Samsung dialer. Its a nice dialer. Nothing wrong with liking it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Well, cool...and I feel like a dork now, lol. One of those rare times where looking before leaping was the mistake, oh well. I did read the Superclean thread and looked for pics of the dialer, for what it's worth.
Still interested to know if the contacts.apk can be reloaded easily into more stocklike roms, but not as important for now I guess.
Thanks for the quick reply.

t9 dialer
I'm happy putting this together myself, but to speed things along does anyone have links/suggestions on where to get the above features or a ROM with all the above?
I get my N4 today if shipping works well from TNT so hope to have this flashed tonight and have loads on at work so this is why I am posting a Q&A for help locating this
All very good Features i would like to see in a "Stock"-Android ROM. :good:
the wallet apk is floating around here somewheres. there is also an unsupported gapps with it.

i started thinking... what makes a minimal rom? i have never used a rom that was considered 'minimal' so questions are coming up. as more and more time goes by would the rom not get further and further away from stock? or do they stop adding features and only update as code for what they have is further optimized? i guess what im saying is you could always try to hunt down a rom that started with all of the features you are looking for. then flash an early build of that before they loaded it down with stuff you dont want.

That's a good question. Never thought it about that way. I guess it's rom that stays relatively close to stock without pushing out all these features coming out of aokp and cm. Just the minimal additional features that the ROM creator feels necessary.
I personally don't see a reason for these roms and why some people must stick to stockish custom roms. Nowadays all roms are fast that you can barely tell the difference. The difference comes from the kernel in my opinion.
I just don't want to use a rom that barely gets updated because I'm addicted to flashing stuff and without garbage code wasting space on my phone with unnecessary apps like performance control when I already have a app to use for controlling the cpu frequency etc. Things like that.
I guess my definition of minimal is very little tweaks just enough to tease our temptations without being too disappointed. It's defined differently by all

Paranoid android is closer to stock than CM/AOKP if you ignore the tablet settings. It's more about having a beautiful UI and near stock interface.

lol what are you talking about. all ROMs for N4 look like a stock interface, they're all built upon the Holo theme introduced in ICS.
the whole Paranoid Android is all about changing DPI and integrating the status bar on the bottom with the nav bars instead of having a status bar up on top.

That's not a definition of a "minimal" ROM then. You're looking for a stable ROM. At this date, I feel that every ROM is stable and it's practically up to you on what kind of additional features you want with your phone. That's all it really comes down to.
New ROM versions come out because they want to put out newer features (yes they are stable). No one forces you to update them, you can flash it once and leave it. When you want to, you can dirty flash up upon it.
If you don't want to update your ROM then why did you flash custom ROMs in the first place?

it all comes down to YOU as an individual going to the forum and looking at your options. they're all fantastic choices and all stable roms. read the last couple of pages for feedback. its not that hard man. its like you asking the question, "what is the most minimal house" you want something stable... each rom has its own uniqueness, its up to you to decide what you want.
with my biasm, id go towards cyanogenmod10.1 + franco kernel for the cleanest code and has everything i want.
Try out maddogin's stock ROM, he built it from stock ROM and he added few things on it, such as reboot, battery icon changer, theming and stuff. So that's basically stock ROM with few added extras. Maybe u could make a request on his forum about Facebook sync etc. It is in nexus 4 original development.

lol what are you talking about. all ROMs for N4 look like a stock interface, they're all built upon the Holo theme introduced in ICS.
the whole Paranoid Android is all about changing DPI and integrating the status bar on the bottom with the nav bars instead of having a status bar up on top.
According to your OP Post,

Possibly because I came from a HTC world where ROMs (non-stock) would be built to aim towards AOSP based roms and would come with instabilities.
All ROMs do come deodexed, but some have options for odex too - I guess it was a bit silly really to put deodex and root on the list, but to be honest it was a copy and paste from a conversation I was having saying what I wanted to gain from my Nexus 4 in addition to stock
EQS and EPM are probably the _first_ things a dev/modder does with a ROM - to be honest I don't know why Google don't add this in to stock. Same with t9 dailer - again coming from a htc where it was built in to their stock roms I got used to it.
In the end I just flashed MCR because it has most features out the box (missing t9 dialer and facebook sync unless you go premium) and it'll do for now.
i'll reconsider again in a few months when I have had time to settle in and life has calmed down over the xmas rush.
I used to flash once per month but I found I dont have that much free time recently so thats my reasoning behind saying that I was looking for something stable that I can leave alone for a few months
