[Q] Is there a way to flash into a new ROM... - G2 and Desire Z General

... without wiping out everything on my calendar and agenda? I have lots of stuff to remember...

Why don't you just sync your calendar with Google Calendar, then sync it back again once the ROM has been flashed ?

+1 for synching to Google Calendar (and contacts to Gmail, for that matter). Google is so well integrated into Android, it makes synching these things completely effortless when flashing ROMs, switching devices, etc. Just enter your Google login, and everything is just there, its wonderful!

What if I'm using Jorte calendar app.
I have a lot of memos and tasks as well.
While I'm at it, I also noted a lotta crap with the NoteEverything app.

Dunno, backup the app(s) with Titanium backup ? That should save their data, shouldn't it ? (not tried it myself)

There should be some sort of an Export Option for that app, save that exported file on SD and after you load the new rom you can restore you appts, tasks, etc
Or like steview said... do some reading on Titanium backup, it freezes the apps to its state and resumes after you do a restore with the new rom.

This. Titanium Backup will save the app and the app's data. Then you can restore both.

Retain Data while changing builds

I've a question. Is there any way we can retain all the data i.e. Contacts, SMSs, Applications when changing from 1 Build to another?
Eg I currently using [darkstone HD2Froyo v1] and wanna change to mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense. So is there any way to do that without losing on the Apps, Contacts, SMSs?
Bump , I am wondering about the same thing too.
For personal data (except text messages), you can set up a Google email and sync. Your contact details will appear each time you load a new ROM.
For backing up programs you can try Astro File Manager which allows you to back up and reinstall all of your programs.
......not sure how to deal with. Text messages.
Hope this helps.

Use MyBackup and MyBackupPro(Paid App) and you can backup and restore your apps and your contacts, call logs, SMS, MMS etc. The apps can be restored along with the settings for the apps so you dont have to setup the apps after restoring.
Titanium Backup.
does that back up saved game data too?

[q] how to backup and restore android after flashing

So i am a frequent flasher, i like to try different ROMs and I have a problem with recovering my data. It seems to be a huge pain in the ass with android. With Win Mo it was simple, one click on SPB backup and everything was restored. Not on Android.
I am using only Desire HD or Z based ROMS, currently NAND wit SD IMG. I am looking for a simple way how to backup and restore following settings:
1. CONTACTS - and I mean all contacts with all detail. I have my contacts synched with FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, Skype etc. Google sync and HTC Sense pretends that its synched, but after flash, only basic google contact is synced and I have to manually add all the login info for those services and then wait for them to be asociated and then asociate those that were not connected manually.
2. SMS - this could be solved by using SMS backup, but it would be nice not to have a special application for that. I also have suspicion, that sometimes this is restored from cloud and sometimes not. After one flash, I thought that my sms are lost, because i didnt backup them. After another flash, they miraculously reapeared without me doing anything. WTF?
3. Call log
4. EMAIL SETTINGS - I dont want to set up all the email after each flash.
5. Apss and Data - yeas, this could be done by several apps, smallest problem.
6. System DATA - by that i mean mostly my homescreen setup, wifi settings, bookmarks, RSS feeds, calendar, tasks etc. Something seems to be synced by google, something not. Some apps do that, but after restore, they mess up whole system and cause repeated errors (acore etc.)
IS THERE A ONE APP ONE CLICK SOLUTION FOR THAT?
What pisses me most is the inability of Gmail or HTCSENSE to sync all the information of my contacts. WTF? WHy it cant store all the info, pictures etc. WHy even HTC sense couldnt do it? WHat the hell is HTC SYNC good for, when only option to sync contacts with PC is to sync them to Outlook, whioch is not even available in windows anymore!
I tried several apps and they mostly fail. When tried My Backup Root to backup contacts, it created 800 duplicated contacts out of 300 and when google sync steps in the way during that, it will even mess up your data on the cloud. When i tried to restore system settings with this app I ended up with broken system with error every second.
I dont know how to force Titanium to backup my system data, or SMS and I doubt its possible. When I selected batch full apps+data backup, it didnt recovered even my homescreen setup.
Is it really ncessary to fiddle with my phone for several hours after each flash to get it into previous shape?
the answer is pretty simple
use this application 'mybackup pro'
and install it then you can configure how to backup
it will backup all your app and data
and when you flash a new rom you can restore everything
android is cool
i'm cool too
Is mybackup pro better than titanum backup ?
As far as i get it, My Backup Pro is paid version of My Backup Root which messed my contacts and caused my system to crash after restoring system settings.

Titanium Backup..

so i used this before upgrading a ROM but i cant seem the get my phone contacts back. everything else restored though.. but i cant seem to get my contacts.. any suggestions? i didnt save a copy oof my contact to the card cause i thought titanium would save it.
Didnt you sync them to your Gmail account? thats automatic.

Doesn't sound like it, he expected titanium to backup his contacts for him.
no i didnt have it synced to my gmail.. but its okay i actually had an old copy of the vcf file at home which i can load. wheeew.. but yeah i had those on my sd card but erased it thinking it was old..
Next time just make sure you go to Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Google and check the box for contacts. Then you won't have to backup your contacts manually.
Also, although Titanium is an awesome app and certainly has it's uses, for things like backing up and restoring of basic things like apps, contacts, call log, bookmarks, and SMS/MMS, I find MyBackup much easier to use.

[Q] Transfering Accounts & Sync between roms/android flavors

Hello all,
My question is, how can I transfer full account & sync info (including accounts' settings, contacts, emails, calendar, ect) from one rom to the next, without loosing my account info?
Here's my situation: I have been testing a couple different roms (who hasn't ;-) switching from non-sense to sense, all gingerbread though. I have been using Titanium to backup all apps and system data, and as a secondary backup MyBackup (root) of all data (sms/mms, contacts, call log, ect.).
Say I start with AmeriCanAndroid (non-sense), backup as described above, then wipe and install one of the Runny (sense) roms, restore with Titanium.. I can't restore system data because if I do I get continuous FC on com.android.* and so on (which I believe I understand to be incompatible system apps), so instead I only restore installed apps and a few system (bluetooth pairings and wifi access points). And then restore data with MyBackup.
This works out well for everything except contacts and calendar, which is a huge deal. (Background on my contacts; I have a personal exchange server and I don't upload contacts or anything related to google, but atm my server is down and I haven't got around to troubleshooting the issue yet) MyBackup doesn't restore the accounts themselves, it just replaces or appends the info to existing ones, so when I change roms I have it set (for now since I can't connect to exchange to re-setup the account) to place those contacts as part of the phone account (I very much dislike this method, but its the only thing I found that worked out on short notice since I need my phone useable all the time).
I'm looking for a simple backup all accounts method that will restore across variations of android to the default accounts & sync. Is that possible? Thank you very much for your advise/suggestions.
Did you tried to save all your settings via google account? You can do that in settings->privacy->backup my data. Some friends of mine do that with their android phones and when I flash a new rom to their phones they get most of settings and apps back by syncing with their google accounts.
It's worth to try.
Thanks for the reply icke, but the problem in that is, I will never backup my data to google's (nor any other server, other then my own) if possible. That's why none of my contacts are sync'd with google.
I need a solution that will allow me to keep it all local.

[Q] Deleted stock calendar app, no calendar apps will sync? how to fix?

After rooting my LG-LS980 (The Sprint G2), the first thing I did was delete bloatware. I deleted pretty much every unnecessary bloat app, and then I went through and deleted & replaced apps with their better, google counterparts. For example, I deleted the stock messaging app and replaced it with hangouts. I tried to do the same thing with the calendar app (replacing it with google calendar), but apparently if you delete the stock calendar app, NO calendar app will sync. Not google calendar, not aCalendar. I tried them both and they both are functionless. I looked around for the apk and coincidentally all of the .apk files I could find were dead links. I would love if someone could either help me get the stock app back or help me make it so I can sync google calendar.
I would like to leave restoring to my last backup as the last resort because I haven't backed up in a while due to low memory space. I swear though the second I fix this i'm going to back up again.

Sounds like you deleted the Calendar Storage system apk that is needed to sync calendars. I've got the stock calendar removed and everything works fine for me.
I've attached a TiBu backup for it but note that it may not work for you as I'm on Stock KitKat and running the Australian variant (D802-T).
Help

Same problem
Rooted phone, braindead mistake. Deleted the original calendar app along with calendar sync and calendar storage and those were all sys apps with the brilliant reasoning that i will install google calendar so why do i need so many calendars.
So i would be really thankful to get those apps and install them back
Android ver. 4.4.2 BuildID Kitkat
Kernel 3.4.67
Help!
Nevermind
I eventually solved the problem like i suspected in the first place.
- Found the original ROM for my phone
- Unpacked the archive and converted the system.ini and cstmpack.ini in .ext4 files with ext4_unpacker
- Extracted all the files from those two files and found all calendar related .apk's
- Installed Root Browser on my phone
- Checked all calendar related missing files and added those which were missing
- Checked the permissions because when i moved the files, they didn't have the right permissions
- Restarted phone and voila! Everything is like it was before
better than stock with amazing themes
