On my last phone I had spelling suggestions for the hardware keyboard, but the desire z doesn't seem to. Does anyone have them. Is there a setting I am just overlooking here?
RootedHTCDesireZ
go Settings,.... Language & KB,... Select ANDROID settings or HTC IME settings,... should be in there somewhere pal.
Under language and keyboard there is only language and touch settings. Am I missing a setting here?

Here you go pal,... does that help?

What the OP is asking for is for the hardware keyboard, not the virtual keyboard.
For the OP, if you buy/download swiftkey from the market, it really is one of the best virtual keyboards and it DOES have corrections for the hardware keyboard I just doubled checked just to make sure

I have a 20 key HTC Touch Dual 850 and was wondering if a app was available where you can have an apple style on screen keyboard. There is a thread where a 16 key has this style keyboard popping up. Please see link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=79365&d=1207314335
Any help on this would be great!!!

I tried the pocketcm keyboard and liked it alot. However, It mad writing sms much harder. I swap between swedish and english quite alot and the skortcut key didn't work after installation of pocketcm. So I had to remove their keyboard to get this feature back.

TouchPal just came up with a new version that I believe you can switch between different languages with ease. I only use english so have never tried, but it's supposed to be pretty nice.

Another option is to go HERE. Always start at the beginning--read, search and learn. Most of the answers have already been answered
Best wishes,
I love that my dictionary corrects my mistakes when I type on the screen, it also suggests words that I could use instead, etc.
But the dictionary doesn't show at all when I use the hardware keyboard, why is that? Is there any modification which brings up the dictionary when you use the hardware keyboard as well?
Thanks!
the HK does autocorrect, but I don't think there's any option for suggested words outside of the VK.
TouchPal (just look in the market) will enable it for the HW keyboard. Just make sure to check "Word Prediction" in the options.

Nice! That actually worked. Thanks a lot!
Ok so first off.. Ive seen a few keyboard mods but nothing great.
My first complaint. Why in the world did they put a T9/ABC toggle switch right under the letter A?? Maaan its complete hell! I hate it with a purple passion!
has anyone hid it or put it away in a pop-up menu where it belongs??
second... has anyone gotten rid off the freakin UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT arrows??
They do more bad then good.. always hitting them by accident and its a pain like no other..
Has anyone removed those as well? With them gone you can actually have less screen real estate taken as well..
I really hope someone on here looks into this.. I would do it but i dont know how :/
on another note.. or question.. does lowering the screen sensitivity help with the keyboard?? anyone have experience with this?
Try some other keyboards. Fingerkeyboard is popular, as is swype.

Yes, deffinitely, the first thing I do when i reflash/hard reset is apply screen desensitivity tweak. Most people will say teh same.
I already tried that keyboard and it sux too. so nothing really can be done about it? is there a way to mod the keyboard to get rid of that toggle switch and arrows?
Use the compact qwerty, it's a lot easier to type on it.
Other suggestions...
Swype, SlideIT, or ShapeWriter.
Otherwise, you could SKIN the Swype keyboard with the HTC design... that way the keyboard layout isn't so unusual.
I prefer using the HTC keypad in FULL QWERTY form, and ABC, versus T9.
Plus, I've altered the "wait time" or responsiveness for key taps. It's set to 375 by default, but a little registry tweak... and now mine is 100. So the keys respond instantaneously.

Doesn't sipchange allow you to do the same thing. A little warning to all. If you install sipchange to your phone you'll never be able to completely erase it.

Where is that tweak? Is it in BsB or is it a reg edit?

I don't and haven't used SIPChange, but that tweak I mentioned is a registry edit that I did myself. But yes, there are threads in the HTC LEO section that discuss the exact directory values you must change to achieve this result.
Yup, I searched AFTER I asked lol. Found it, will try it later, thanks.
I feel the SAME exact way as the OP, I hate the arrows for the same reasons... I have tried several keyboards with multiple issues....(EzInput which had the layout I was looking for, then fbkeyboard i think is the name? ...then roscos keyboard, then another I forgot the name of ) and now finaly I am stuck trying to use the swype keyboard, which imo works better than stock but its negligable and I just wish that EzInput worked correct for me =\
can i pay someone to fix this??
i would gladly do it.
The Swype Layout looks Great... did anyone skin the Swype over the HTC Layout?

I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I was first trying out swype. The layout is the best I have seen for an onscreen keyboard IMO, and if someone could create a skin for the stock keyboard that would be fantastic!
The keyboard on the energy rom is real nice, gives space between the letters and lessens mistakes by 1000%. Would be cool if you could import that keyboard into the stock rom, but I'm lovin energy so far so Ill just stick with it.
I would pay someone to skin a iphone keyboard onto the stock HTC keyboard. *HINT HINT*
Since i updated to kitcat, i cant change language at my keyboard. I dont have either the global icon or the arrows on the space bar

That's not what he meant, I reckon... What I think he means is that when you upgraded, then keyboard restarted it's in use languages.
You need to go to settings -> my device -> language and input -> tap the wheel to the right of your keyboard, then add the languages you want. You might have to download them again.
Hope that solved it!

I did download them again. The problem is that i dont have the choice to change language. The only choice is to disable the one i use and enable the other from the settings.
