My company requires us to use Good Technology Client to connect for emails. Has anyone figured out a way to keep this working when playing with different builds?
I use Titanium Backup which restores the data, however Good is unable to connect unless I reinstall and get my help desk to provide a new activation code. I'm sure my help desk is getting sick of calls with me trying the build of the day
- Edit - Grr, sorry I thought I was in the Q/A forum. Mods, mind moving this for me?

Ok, here's a few experiences, not a complete comparison.
First, I noticed when I flashed the new tmobile ROM I can both surf the net and talk on the phone. Same applied when I had my PS3 hooked up for network activity...can also talk without data loss.
Now, when I go back to flashing Core Cell I no longer can talk and surf the net on my HD2. However, I can talk and have my PS3 connected without network loss? Also, I get this nagging "memory loss" prompt in Opera far to often.
So, with this said. My question to you smart phone guru's is...Is there some sought of modification via software that controls phone talk and data activity to work simultaneously? Cuz I know for a fact it simply works. Not sure if it's intentional or what, but I got use to it and want it in Core Cell.
Oh, how can I fix Opera issue?
Thanks.
Not a single one of you braniacs got input?
why not post this in the core cell thread where you might get help
Not being a douche would help too. Seriously, you waited one day.
I've posted in the past within that thread...stop getting answers...
Oh...and f#ck you...not being a douche....Refreshed the thread...there has been several times where questions go unanswered. Just don't want the thread to vanish to the bottom of the list without a good chance of an answer coming through.
You have to excuse me...I'm not built to eat sh#t....
Hi everyone,
completely new to this (just got my first smart phone yesterday with verizon. i got the droid x w/ android 2.2.1).
I was reading the stickies and read some interesting stuff that i might be inclined to do. However I was wondering specifically how does VoIP is affected after rooting the phone (couldnt find anything about VoIP with rooting specifically in the sticky).
Currently i use my data plan to make incoming /outgoing calls via sipgate + sipapp (i use fring) + google voiceCallback + google voice itself
So im wondering can i still use those apps and have the same setup so that I can continue making calls using my data plan if i root my phone?
Thank you for your time
If ANY app does not work from you simply rooting your phone, I am osama bback from the dead.
Even flashing roms will cause maybe one app not to work (hdmi)
I do not mean to sound insulting or rude in any way by saying this, but if you actually knew what rooting did you would not have to ask that question. I would recommend looking that up just so you know what you are doing when you root your phone.
Ok - I'm a brand new Noobie - so plz forgive the stupid questions and hope I'm in the right section of the Forum for this one.
My background is web application developer and back end integration specialist - I work for a typical big company. I would like to learn about mobile development and especially mobile development with back end server integration applications.
I've been thinking about and application problem: I'm hoping you guys can help me fill out the missing pieces.
I love to fish - I have a fish finder that can capture a down scan image and side imaging. This thing can not only record this info on an SD card, but it can even broadcast this information via a wireless device to other devices in is proximity. So I can get data from the Sonar to a tablet user on the boat - there is an dev kit I could deploy on the tablet to make use of the data. So far so good.
The problem I can't wrap my head around is this: say I want to make this data available to someone standing on the shore - he's too far away from me for my Wi-Fi signal to reach him, but he does have an Android phone. How could I feed the data stream from my Sonar to this shore-bound Android user? Would I:
A) Hook up a phone device to the WiFi network on the boat and have the phone communicate with some remote web server that would then record this data in a DB for the user(s) to poll? OR
B) Connect the Phone to the WiFi network on the boat and have that phone somehow PUSH data to the user on the shore without the web server in the middle ?!
Help me think through this please.
BB
Nothing...
Wrong forum, wrong question... maybe?
I've been trying to read up on how to use newer phones without being forced into a stupid 4g plan on PP. So far I have only succeeded in giving myself several headaches. It's hard to keep up with things when most of the threads here and elsewhere were either abandoned or closed....
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
From the info out there it sounds like you need a donor phone in order to get 3g? I suppose data isn't necessary, but I'd like to take a shot at it if it's possible. I really do not want to put out more cash for a donor phone that I will likely end up losing more change on.
(The current phone I have with PP is a Motorola....I don't think it would be usable for that^.)
Yep either need a donor or someone who has one to get the codes for you. Plus you can only use jbbl with the ICS radio and I'm not sure if PP is still activating flashed phones
I have an unlocked AT&T 1337 Samsung S4 and am using it on the T-Mobile Network. I am fine with it as it is an old phone and such but my biggest issue is i Need to somehow Enable WiFi Tethering. My previous Phone was a S3 from T-mobile and that was no trick to get it rooted and all i wanted within a week of owning it. I haven't had time lately to do what i want with my current phone. (no pitty party but my father just died and i cant be bothered with much) and i need to get tethering working if at all possible. I also am moving Very soon (a couple days more than 2 weeks to another state any I'll be flying although i will need to get tethering before that I need it to get data access on my tablet.)
So No pity party from me, I just ask if anyone knows at least some links to set me on my way without having to use google and try to do it right as i need this phone and cannot make any errors.
Lastly my phone is unlocked (that doesn't matter) because when i try to tether it says "wrong sim network" or something i can post exact if it matters in a reply. I believe it must be rooted unless their is an app i don't know about. I have always gotten great responses here but I have never asked the feed me information question. Sadly this pc is comming down very soon and i only have much time for craigs list (selling 80% of what i own)
I TYIA for links to current informational posts about what i need to do. ill be looking myself too (and have been just hoping what i found is the right information. I was going to follow a guide like this if not this one
http://www.androidblog.gs/how-to-root-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337-on-android-4-4-4-kitkat-firmware/
Please tell me if the above link will help me succeed or brink my only phone right now.
I've rooted and installed new roms, even used Odin to clean all the stuff off my S3 but that was a different ballgame, it was a t mobile phone on t mobile and it was a simple flash.
Again TIA
I have the same unlocked phone on the same network. This is what I did to get it to work.
1. Root phone
2. Used titanium backup to freeze the "app" called "TetheringAutomation 1.0.1". I assume there are other apps that could do the same.
Prior to that the tethering process would just crash. The same is true for my wife's Galaxy S5 which is not rooted and cannot tether. I haven't used it much, mind you, but I have noticed that sometimes I have to try to turn on the tethering 2-3 times before it will stay on but then it works fine.
Here is the guide I used to root the phone (you don't have to install the xposed framework if you don't want or need it):

Sorry about your father.
