Hi.
I have just brought from China a G9009D Dual Sim Galaxy S5 and just now I realized that it has a "China Use Only Sim Slot - CDMA".
I am from Brazil and I was wishing to use 2 different numbers on it (3G).
Is anyone researching if there a way to change this? I.e: Make both Sim card slots 3G and Quadband?
Thank you!
Anyone can help?

Can any of the Android Gurus provide a step-by-step procedure to root the G5 Dual Sim (G9009D) UAE version?
Thanks in advance

You probably can't do that. Only one slot is GSM, the other is CDMA. You'd need a different model to support two GSM numbers.. the sm-900fd duos appears to have dual GSM SIM slots.
In any event, there is a thread that collates all of the information on the Chinese model that you have. Do a search and look for details there. You'd also find a better audience for your model as the people in that thread have the same goals and model as you.
.
I unlocked my s5 sm-g9009d
Here is the solution
1- In the dial pad, enter "* # 0011 #", will enter ServiceMode interface (if no response, just wait a while and try again)
2- Click on the top right corner of the three-point menu, press Click "Back", then click on menu, select "Key Input", enter a capital Q, point "OK", and then point to the menu, select "Key Input", enter "000000", click "OK".
3- patiently waiting for 5-10 seconds, will enter the "Main Menu" menu, click "[2] UE SETTINGS & INFO", "[1] SETTING", "[1] PROTOCOL", "[3] CDMA" , "[9] CTC SIM LOCK", "[1] SIM Lock", "[2] Disable SIM Lock is"
4- when you see the future "SIM Lock is Disabled", turn off the phone, insert your UIM in slot one.
It should work now

Ok, I tried to put a sim card in the 1st slot and the message is that the slot is empty. Is necessarely to insert a special sim? At step 4 appear "Sim Lock is Dissable (*)
Thank you in advance for support
Hey there, I was looking for a way to remove the "No SIM Card" notification (which appears for who dont insert a SIM... duh)... so i found a way to hide it by replacing a line in build.prop
(First you need to have root access and an app that can access system/build.prop in rw mode)
so the line you find by default is ro.config.tima=1
for me, it worked to remove this line and replace with the following ro.config.donot_nosim= true
This is not my own work, and im just sharing with xda, because i never found this in here (except just removing the icon, which does nothing on s5)

good info! thanks for sharing!!
hi,
is tehere any way to remove sim inserted alert?
if you have a problematic firmware that won't allow you to edit your APN settings in the dialer hidden menu, this may be what you need.
first, the warnings:
1. THIS IS ONLY FOR SPRINT SAMSUNG PHONES RUNNING TOUCHWIZ ROMS!!! never attempt on any other carrier or manufacturer's device or alternate roms! it should most likely work on other Samsung Sprint devices with stock/touchwiz roms.
2. DEPENDING ON DEVICE, YOU ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE FORCED TO FACTORY RESET YOUR DEVICE IN THE PROCESS, which likely includes LOSS OF ALL DATA ON INTERNAL SD!! take all necessary precautions.
3. ROOT REQUIRED
4. you will STILL NEED your MSL number!!!
5. have a FULL backup in TWRP ready in case anything goes wrong. INCLUDE your EFS in the backup!!! again, INCLUDE YOUR EFS. make sure it's stored on EXTERNAL sd card. again, EXTERNAL SD CARD!!! or copy it to your PC if you don't have an external card.
here's the short but sweet guide.
1. download "Samsung Phone Info" from Google Play
2. swipe over to the CSC section.
here you should see:
Firmware's CSC Code
Active CSC Code
Available CSC Code
3. if Firmware's AND Active both say XAS, you should already be able to edit your APNs using your MSL number.
if Firmware and Active codes do not match, you have a dirty rom and I am unable to help you correct it, you'd best try a different stock based rom or 3rd party that allows it by default.
if Available CSC Codes does NOT include "XAS" then whoever modified the customized stock touchwiz rom you're using removed it and you'd best try a different stock based rom or 3rd party that allows it by default.
4. using any CSC editor, change "SPR" in ALL places it appears as only the 3 letters "SPR" to XAS
5. confirm changes and reboot. you will now most likely lose ALL personal data on your phone and should now be able to edit your APN using your MSL inside the dialer's hidden menu.

Have you found a way to retrieve your MSL without calling sprint? I've tried all the tool apps in the play store and using a logcat within the ##3282# menu with no luck. Getprop ril.MSL yields nothing, not even a not found error.
I've tried calling sprint for my MSL but refuse to release it.. I'm not exactly on their "nice" list - they've even called to tell me I'm "using too much of my [UNLIMITED] data" many times so I don't expect much from them anymore..
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated
try the Sprint chat -- through the website, NOT Facebook, and have a good reason ready as to why you need the MSL, other than for bypassing their security lol
Holy **** after searching high and low I have FINALLy found a way to get back editing my APNS for hotspot on my rooted Sprint Note 5! AND I keep Android Pay! Thanks so much!!
This works perfectly! Only thing is turn on hotspot option disappeared from settings. I can turn it on and off from the top bar if I swipe down. OR I can download a hotspot shortcut app and access it from that app.
Also I noticed my icons for LTE now say 4G and the bars are different too - more old school.
I noticed I changed EVERY SPR to XAS - do ALL of them NEED to be changed to enable APN editing? Can I switch back the ones that give me back hotspot option in settings and stock LTE & bars icons?

this **might** be fixed by renaming (or deleting, if you're brave) the features.xml file, if I remember correctly, stored in system/csc/ or system/etc/ not sure honestly
features.xml.backup should do just fine.
if the rom doesn't boot afterwards or if the dragons catch all your apps on fire, go back to recovery and use TWRP's file manager to change it back
also, any xposed app (like wanam's) or other feature.xml adjusting apps (like GalaxyTools or Samsung Phone Info) can cause the problem to happen again.
the alternative / temporary / dirty-fix would be to create a shortcut to hotspot on your home screen:
1. download Activity Launcher from Google Play
2. launch and change recent activities to all activities
3. wait approximately 72 years for it to load
4. scroll to Settings and tap it
5. scroll to Hotspot and long-press it
6. tap create shortcut
7. never uninstall Activity Launcher -- instead just make it a hidden app (it's very small anyways)
I can just longpress hotspot toggle in slide down drawer from top no probz. Which CSC settings modifies the ability to edit APN? I want to put the rest back to SPR.

I used the msl code and everything appears the way you say it should... but the phone STILL says invalid sim!
What internal file must be deleted, the thing is unlocked on sprints end it just wont let go !

Hello,
I rooted Sprint Note 5 from Nougat to Magisk and went ahead to replace SPR into XAS in all files under system/CSC folder. APN Type is still coming greyed out. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
Currently on InvictaOS (4/20 release). I know there are settings that allow me to change the carrier name to whatever I like (on status bar and lockscreen), but when an actual call is made or received, the phone still says "(XXX) XXX-XXXX via Home".
I've searched everywhere for the answer but can't find anything that will change the carrier name globally.
I used my current sim in my old S4 and it correctly displayed AT&T while on KK...however, I noticed the same Home issue when I installed a LP ROM. FWIW, I also received the Home carrier label when I was on stock MM. Is this a "feature" that was introduced with LP? If so, I don't like it.
Anyway, just me being picky. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Just a thought - under Settings > SIM cards, if you tap on your SIM card (e.g. in slot 1) are you able to edit the SIM name there (by tapping on SIM name), and does that then change 'Home' to whatever you typed when you call?
I do not have the Sim Card settings that you speak of. I have the XT1625 (non plus version), so I don't know if I don't have those settings because it's a single sim phone or if the ROM doesn't have those settings. But thanks for the reply!

Hmm, that's odd - I'd have thought the SIM card settings would be there regardless of whether it's single or dual SIM... Just asking, what's your device's baseband on Invicta (under Settings > About Phone)? Was this a clean flash of Invicta with BeanGapps or another GApps?
With a clean flash of Invicta 2.0 (20/04 build, BeanGapps mini), I'd have expected that SIM card settings would be visible on the top level of Settings (as in the screenshot), then you'd be able to edit the SIM name (in the screenshot, I've renamed my SIM from 3 to 3 UK), which shows up when you call from that SIM. However, this is on a XT1642 (G4 Plus), so maybe some other XT1625 or G4 users can chime in that are running Invicta too!
You may wish to try clean flashing the 09/05 Invicta build, see if you have any more luck with that one. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72222658&postcount=3844
I clean flashed the 4/20 Invicta build with the recommended 7.1.2 slim micro gapps...but I've faced this issue on every MM & Nougat ROM I've tried.
My baseband is M8952_70009.08.03.45R. Never flashed anything special since all the recommended flashes for Nougat were for fingerprint usability- since I don't have a FP button it was/is a moot point.
I've considered upgrading to the 5/09 build but I have my phone set up how I like it. I don't like to re-do everything every time a new build comes out.
The 'Home" issue is just a minor annoyance. If I can tweak it - cool. If not, not big deal.
Hello XDA-Community,
I've got a Yoga Tab 3 Pro YT3-X90L from a customer.
He was telling me, that he wanted to unlock his device with the pattern, mismatched for several times and now its locked and requires the owners google account. Or something like that. He never had the owners google account. He told me that his seller has activated his device for him. And he has no clue who it was.
Now here is my part.
I've researched and obviously it's a FRP. The owners google account information are stored in the FRP-Partition. And this partition won't get deleted with a simple factory resett.
What i've tried so far:
1.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCzrnnh2K1w I was able to follow this tutorial to minute 9:08. But the option "Email and password" is not there anymore. I guess they patched it with 6.0.1.
2.) I tried to flash a stock rom or twrp with LenovoDownloader(QcomDLoader). The stock rom file is: Lenovo_Yoga_Tablet_3_YT3-X90L_ENG_S200028_1609230146. even its a german device this file was the only one i could find. But the LenovoDownloader won't recognize my device. The windows stays white, no entries. I guess i installed the correct driver for this device and Windows recognizes them as removable device if i plug it in via usb.
3.) I've tried to use adb and fastboot boot oem unlock. But this commands aren't working in locked state.
4.) With a trick i could open the Settings and was full of hope to active the developer options to set usb debbuging to active. But this developer options aren't available either with this "user".
5.) There is an apk for showing the "Email and password" interface. I could install it, but it force closes right after starting it.
6.) I've tried several tools to bypass this FRP: WinDroid Toolkit, D-G Unlocker, Realterm, but NOTHING.
What could i do further? I'm out of ideas right now.
I've read about a factory_update.img but i cant find anything, except the stock rom file, for this device.
Or downgrading the device, so i could use the "Email and password" but. But i can't even flash the stock rom.
Specs for the device:
Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro YT3-X90L
Lenovo/YT3_l0_row_lte
6.0.1/MMB29M/LenovoYT3-X90L_S200307_170614
i appreciate any help i can get
greets

I've wrote it down. Hope this helps.
Situation:
"Confirm account: The device has been reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device. "
Explanation:
The device has been blocked by repeated input of the wrong password, pattern, etc. and can only be unlocked with the Google account of the owner.
A factory reset or hard reset does not help here, as the account information is saved in its own FRP partition and will not be deleted when the factory state is restored.
Solution:
1. Connect device to a Wi-Fi and Internet access.
2. Before confirming "Next", select another hotspot here
3. Go to "Advanced Settings" and change the proxy settings of any hotspot to Manual.
4. In the text input field of the proxy settings you enter now any word: e.g. Test
5. Now mark this word and select "Assist" in the context menu.
6. Selecting this "Assist" option opens the Google search application.
7. You can now not only browse the Internet through this search, but also search for and open installed programs.
8. We are looking for Chrome, open the internet browser, go to www.google.com and search for DPC test.
Link: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sampl...-release/test-dpc-4-0-6-android-apk-download/
9. After downloading this application, go back to the Google search application.
10. Here we enter "Download" to search for the download application.
11. In Downloads we can now find and install the downloaded app.
12. To allow the installation of this .apk, you must allow the installation of "unknown sources" in the settings.
13. Either you go here on the installation itself on "Settings", or you search for "Settings" on the Google search app.
14. After completing the installation of the DPC-Test program, start it with "Open".
15. The app itself is will register as a device owner and now allows us to set up a new Google Account as owner.
16. If this is set up, it will also be included in the FRP partition.
17. In the event of a new factory reset, the device is reset, the DPC-Test program is removed and the device can be freshly set up in the factory settings.
after the takeover of the owner, the reason for blocking the device was not present anymore and the old owner was overwritten. This will be overwritten in the FRP partition aswell with the new account and the old one no longer queried.
You, mister, are my savior! Thank you very much.
Solve works for Lenovo Yoga 3 tablet
Just a big giant thank you! My dad passed away leaving me a Lenovo Yoga 3 tablet, unable to gain access due to information stored in the FRP partition. :highfive:
