The NTP_SERVER should be the one according to your location. In europe is this 0.europe.pool.ntp.org
This can solve also a few things: GPS Gingerbread Fix
But doesn't work with everyone

I posted I hope is the solution to your GPS problem in another thread you responded to. What you need to do is edit the script since you are in the United States to look like: 0.us.pool.ntp.org in the top Server line. An easy way to edit the script WITHOUT having to find it in the folder is using FasterFix. It has the capability to change the script to match your region. So for the others in Europe with the North American script, use FasterFix and it will change the script to your region of Europe. But for us in the USA, I would use the script that starts with the number 0. I found that my cold start time is around 20 seconds to lock and if I use GPS Status as well, lock is within a couple of seconds.
Here's the link to FasterFix that I hope can help everyone on this thread: http://forum.samdroid.net/f10/fasterfix-1747/

I know you are trying to help, but please read the previous pages.
This only helps when the region is wrong, for example US - Europe.
This thread goes about the GPS bug that a intial fix is possible but afterwards no data from the GPS is transferred.
For more info please read the previous pages

hmm the problem seems to be resolved after letting gps fix run for about 15minutes. After this i get a fix quite fast
So maybe it's worth a try

GPS clock is one hour ahead of current time

Hi all.
I have tried with different GPS softwares (PapagoX3&Vietmap), GPS clock are mysteriously one hour ahead of the current time (Device's time).
Could anyone suggest a solution to get a correct time in GPS?
I set clock as GMT+ 7 (Hanoi, Bangkok)
Help me, please. Thanks heaps !

Maybe, but I dont know how to turn it off ?
Hey,
(Thinking it could be daylight saving time).
- I searched on the internet and I found a few things you could try. You could update your device with through this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/daylight-savings-update.mspx
- You can try to put daylight saving time off in Outlook through
Tools | Options | Preferences | Calendar Options | Time Zone
(I found this on an old threat on the internet so I am not sure it will work, the link:
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=146800)
But before I continue is it the GPS clock or the whole phone? Did you ever connect the phone with a USB cable to a computer?

Yup, its the GPS clock which is shown in several GPS map software I mentioned above. The clock of whole phone is still set correctly
I did try to disable my daylight saving time(DST) by "advance config tool" from xda - developer but its not the solution. >> do you think that GPS signal, its self, contains a time data including DST.
Infact, my local time (+ 7 GMT Bangkok, Hanoi) is not observed by DST but GPS clock still run as if the DST is applied, one hour ahead of local time
Hey,
I really do not have a clue what the problem would be. I thought that GPS just tracked location and not time. Anyway I searched on this forum with the searchkey "GPS TIME". Maybe the following topic is helpfull:

Ps. I often update my GPS with the preinstalled ("quickgps")

unfortunately, both of my Gps software (Vietmap17, papagox3) dont have setting funtion for this. Hence I have to edit some registry info, dont I ?
Sorry, donĀ“t know both GPS-Apps. Maybe a reg-setting or a config-file.
Can't you try to call the service centre of the GPS software? Even if it is illegal you can try.

Yup, they are legal sofwares, I called service centre of Vietnam17 software. However they dont know much, too disappointed. Maybe, I will try to email Papagox3 service center about my matter.

[Q] How can i fix my GPS problem? (HTC HD2 Android)

Hello guys,
since i have Android on my phone (first i had SD solutions, now i got the NAND solution),
i can't access my GPS (phone finds no satelite).
I was wondering why this happens to my phone, since others have no problem.
But ok, i searched a bit in this forum and i found that the solution might be to edit the GPS settings to port com4 and 256000 rate.
I was also looking how i can change this, but i found nothing.
Can you help me?
Information about my phone:
HTC HD2 (Ger)
Radio 2.15.50.14
Android 2.3.1 (NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.0 NAND)
Maybe you know a better solution than changing GPS settings,
but thats what i want to try now, if i knew where i have to do this.
Thank you.

There is a whole thread for your case, really!
Go and read the last pages, someone found a fix that is working for Gingerbread devices.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900631
This is all i can do for you.
I Know this fix and it's already done, but no changes.
As I said, it was on ANY Android ROM (not only the Gingerbread)

My GPS is working, really, not just getting a fix from A-GPS. You can see what i am using in my sig.
My nav program is working - navigating, though i must say the program itself is much worse than in what i used in WinMo.
So, what is the problem?
I know at least 2 more builds with a working GPS that i've tested myself.
I just know that i had to edit my com Port and my baudrate at windows mobile also.
Maybe i have a strange version, i dont know. But i know the normal win mo hadnt a working gps for me too, so i had to edit it on my own.
Thats what i wanna do now on Android, but i can't find the settings.

I really doubt this will help, but why don't you check the settings of your nav program for this edit.
I don't know where to edit the system in android for these settings, sorry.
There is a fix with editing gps.conf file and it actualy worked for me, it downloads A-GPS data
why don't you try this and then move to the harder part?
1. Use file explorer capable of editing system files to edit the file /system/etc/gps.conf (I use Root Explorer but unfortunately this is paid software; not tried with free version of Astro or ES, and it is possible that they can work too.)
2. Make sure that the bit after "NTP_SERVER=" goes with your location. I believe that as provided, it's "north-america.pool.ntp.org". If you live outside North America, as I do, edit to the appropriate server--as listed at the NTP POOL PROJECT (google for that).
and get GPS Status to reset the GPS itself, this might help!?
Thank you,
but there are no changes.
GPS Status shows 0 for both and another Tool (GPS Fix) trys to locate me, but also can't do it.
I got same trouble.
May be it deal with hd2 version - I got tmobile tmous.
I try many roms (desire hd port, 2.3 and 2.2 other ver.) - same trouble, gps status program can not see satelites.

Hi IMS1407
what a hazzle that was.
I have an HTC HD2 / Leo that i purchased a year ago. I started playing with Android about a month ago and have successfully installed several nand from Froyo and Gingerbread. With all of them i had the GPS problem not being able to see any satelites. I purchased GPS Doctor and tried some other so called GPS Fixes, but NONE of them worked. I finally came accross your post and tried the editing of the gps.conf file. I got me Root Explorer and edited the gps.conf file by simply adding below the line
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.asia.pool.ntp.org
I saved the file and God and Behold I had a Fix within seconds verified by GPS Aids and GPS Status APP.
again thanks alot .....

I have a TMobile US version. Having trouble with the GPS as well. I leave the phone for few hours and found no satellite.
Running HyperDroid 2.1.0 NAND.
Simple, and works

try to update to newer gps libraries, might work.
I also have a gps problem with my hd2 t-mobile but it doesn't have anything to do with gingerbread. Specifically, if the phone get a little warm, gps stops responding. I don't get any errors like not finding the gps but no satellites. Problem exists in NexusHD 4.0.4 which I'm running from native sd and in windows mobile. if I reboot the phone and go straight to wm and run a gps test no satellites. If I shut down the phone and turn it on immediately no satellites. If I shutdown and let it cool down or force it to cool down (lay in on an Icepack) It works (until it warms up again) than nothing. If I cool it down without restarting (lay it on the icepack) it doesn't come back. I already suspect the worst but still asking. In any case I've got a globalsat external bluetooth gps which is far more accurate than the internal gps I was just hoping on avoiding using it in inconvinient situations. I currently have two hd2's one of which is a t-mobile and I don't think I'm going to go in the HTC direction again. Samsung seems to be looking good.

GPS issues

I am currently using [22 JAN] -=MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.6 [A2SD+][GRH78C][RMNET][Kernel: MDJ S10.4 OC] on my HD2 but the Rom's thread is chaotic!
Right now it's not working at all, the gps status cannot locate and none of my gps programs (sygic aura etc) can locate.
When i was using the MDJ revolution 2.2 nand rom my gps was working fine and with WM 6.5.
Can someone please guide me step to step how to make my gps work?
Also i'm a bit of a newbie in Android
Thanks in advance.
It works but...
it takes 2-3 min to lock on. I did change the gps.config located in system/etc for the phone to look for satellites in my region (us).
All this and even more has been done a thousand of times. IT DOES NOT WORKS!
No it doesnt locate any satelites even after 5 minutes of waiting. Both gps status and ndrive did not.
My gps.config file contains these info
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org

download fasterfix.
set it to your location.
download gps status, wait for it to find gps satellites ( make sure your outside while doing this)
close all apps that are running.
your gps should now work normal

Since you already have FasterFix on board, you should change your NTP_SERVER to gr.pool.ntp.org. This way, the GPS with know you are in Greece to better lock onto the satellites faster. Also like others have said, use GPS Status and Toolbox found in the Market to load the AGPS information to help with GPS lock. Let GPS Status and Toolbox do the first initial lock (about one minute) then after that, GPS signal lock should be within 10-15 seconds. Hope this works for you.

I think i'm going to revert back to winMO
For some reason I'm not able to use the GPS with nand releases. I've tried many but no luck at all. Right now I'm on cope's SD one and it is working, maybe you can give it a try.

Hi pal I had the same problem. I've tried everything and for me just one solution works- Gpsfix from market. Before I start any navigation I switch on Gpsfix. That's it. I'm hoping that was helpful.

i can, sadly, confirm this however, sometimes it works when you let it search for 15min+
In general the gps is working for the hd2.
It only lacks of agps support, follow the development thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100114
Explanation of what agps is, if you don't already know:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS
-> if apgs would work for our hd2s, a fix should not take longer than 10-20 seconds
Without agps I can get a fix in 1-3 minutes, therefore you should have the right timeserver in your gps conf:
- browse with an file explorer to /etc/gps.conf
the first line should be europe for your country:
europe.pool.ntp.org

GPS MIUI rom ?

Hi,
Does anyone know the settings for GPS? I live in London and by default when I got installed the rom was NTP server address was America so I changed it to Europe. It works perfectly when on Wireless but when I use my mobile data it says ""Your current location is currently unavailable""
The current GPS Configuration is:
NTP server address:
3.europe.pool.ntp.org
SUPL server address:
supl.google.com
SUPL server port:
7276
Can anyone shine light?

Do you use Leo AGPS Injector v0.5? Or does it automatically detect gps? Do you think it could be due to the lack of gps satellites in my area?

yeh, i use AGPS Injector, only once every 4-5 days, i doubt there would be a lack of satellites over London, if you try gps status it will show you how many satellites there are.

also check with your rom chef, see if he can help,

I did at the Developer and no luck.
The rom I am using is HD2_NDT_MIUI_GINGER_DEVELEPMENT_V30.0_MAGLDR_New
I checked the 3 toggles and it was ok.
I think the only thing left is to reinstall the rom
