Hey all, I hope I've posted this in the right place.
Since rooting, my Wildfire has been behaving rather oddly. The most noticable problem seems to be that if my handset is off, and I connect the charger, even in the battery is full, the orange light comes on. Following this, if I remove the charger, the light stays on permenantly, and I cannot turn the handset on until I remove the battery.
Is this a side effect of rooting, or a sign of something more sinister? If so, are there any guides to "un-root" my handset so that HTC do not recognise I voided my warranty?
Many thanks all
This happened to me as well after rooting.
I'm not sure if there is any way to fix this problem apart from unrooting.
To unroot:
Make a backup of all your apps and settings with Titanium Backup (from the market).
Download the correct ROM for your Wildfire from http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/ (Buzz is the codename of Wildfire if you didn't know) and run the RUU.
This will restore your phone to how it was when it was new.
Restore your backup of your apps and settings with Titanium.
Cheers for the reply, just wanted to make sure that my phone isn't defective really. Only concern now is that the battery is still receiving charge even when it's full.
mine does the same.

This isn't the case with me as the light will still turn green once it is charged. It could still be charging but I highly doubt it.
Same here. What Rom are you running? i am using 1.14.405.2 (now 1.37)
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Try the 1.25 rom

I'm on 1.14.110.1. Upgraded to WildPuzzle last night, but completely fudged my contacts and the backup was completely screwy, so I restored my nandroid backup cos I need a functioning phone today. Didn't get chance to check the charge behaviour, that's my job for tomorrow probably. Have you tried 1.25? Did it fix it?
I would but im away without my pc
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I upgraded to the new ROM (1.25) last night but haven't tried charging it yet. When I get in I'll try charging it and see what happens.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
I will try to check this tonight, im on the new rom.
I can confirm that it does exactly the same thing on rooted 1.25. I am wondering if it is a problem with clockwordmod. If anyone who is having this problem could try unrevoked with amon ra recovery and report back that would be brilliant.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
I expected as much. The ROM is mostly too high-level to impact things like the PSU. I expect you're right in that it is the recovery image. Interesting that we seem to be the only people who have experienced it. Or we're the only ones who care! I'm still getting to grips with this whole rooting business, so I'm not the best guy to install Amon Ra.
EDIT: OK, very interesting development. When the handset is off, connecting to a PC to charge produces the "stick in charging" behaviour. However, when connected, the device is detected by the PC as "My HTC," despite the handset being off.
Same thing for me after doing unrevoked3. Just funny that with original rom when turning off and charging I can turn on, but when I used unrevoked3 on the same conditions I can't turn it on. Maybe people from unrevoked3 could help us, I will try to send them email with this question.
Please do

Any updates on this? I'm planing on rooting a buzz later today. Am doing all my homework now
My phone is having the same effects as your having after using the unrevoked tool.
The same here

Is anyone not having this problem or is it a problem with everyone who has used unrevoked?
After unroot, my HTC works flawless. I already spoke with unrevoked dev team and they told me this is a ClockworkMod recovery problem. But, yesterday, I spoke with koush and he told me this is not a recovery problem. Now I'm confused. LOL
This only happen with rooted devices.
Just as the Title asks. I've looked but some threads are really old. So what do you guys think?
Also, what is THIS lock screen!? It's awesome and I love it!!!!!
Thanks in advanced guys and gals!!! Another thing i was looking for was those backgrounds with those sexy girls wearing headphones and it looks all artsy and ****. cant find the plain backgrounds anywhere....
Well the most important thing to know: a new build gets released every Friday form the Chinese team, then a English team ports it to EVO usually over the weekend for a weekend release. So every week there's a new build.
Latest _English_Port_ is 1.14 ... but 1.21 just got released today (revs are by date) BUT the Chinese team found a bug and is supposed to be releasing a patch tomorrow. The MIUI team responsible for porting the weekly builds apparently already ported the 1.21 but isn't posting it as a official build yet as they are waiting to see what the original dev team is releasing as a patch first.
I would say the current 1.14 is easily the most stable build, the new 1.21 coming out has some UI changes, so it could actually introduce bugs, but only time will tell. Honestly though MIUI has come a long long way.
I really like MIUI rom but not having multitouch on the gingerbread keyboard kills it for me. Hopefully they can get it working soon.

This 1.7 seemed to run the best for me with the included kernel 1.14 had a lot of reboots. I loved the UI and the built in extras like the traffic monitor and the blacklist options but found it too unstable for me. I went to evervolv 2.3a15 and love it so far. Gps doesnt track as well as miui but its an apples oranges comparison. Basically if you can get a stable daily driver miui going on your evo then enjoy olit. The thread in the general section has a lot of believers for sure.
so far 1.14 has been the most stable for me, but myself and many others have been experiencing a problem where whoever we are talking to hears an echo of their voice. The devs are gonna try to work that out for the next build which should be awesome. I'd wait till the final of 1.21 is released.

Okay, so after looking over MIUI and the themes and lockscreen mods I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY RREEAALLLLYY WANT IT!!!!!
But...there's just one problem...
After looking over the directions, and the HBOOT S-OFF thing, nothing seems certain. So many different sites and threads say that some this way doesn't work, this way breaks your 4G, and I can not for the life of my find out how to simply just get MIUI on my flipping Evo! To be honest, from everything I've looked up so far it looks like a ****ing death trap. No joke.
And whats up with partial English? From what I've seen things look like they're in English. How much is still in Chinese?
Is there anyone out there that can show me (or tell me) a very direct way and not an "iffy" way of flashing MIUI. I have Clockwork and I don't know how to check to see if I have S-OFF. I got my Evo 4G the day it came out, so does that mean the way I rooted it back then turned S-OFF for me?
I thought S-OFF was only for people who got the new OTAs and couldn't root their Evos.
I'm sorry but MIUI ust confused the HELL out of me and I'm so willing to take a leap of faith because I want it so bad, but bricking or messing up my Evo ust isnt worth it. Help anyone?
My whole ROM is in english. I'm using the current stable release and it's the best ROM I've used after UD.
The one thing I noticed is that my 3G speeds seem to be slower. I'm on wifi a lot so it isn't too big if a deal but still annoying.

Well, if you have flashed a custom recovery(Clockwork), then I think you must have s-off. The easiest way to check your s-off status is to turn your phone off, then reboot by holding down power+volume-down. The phone will boot into the h-boot screen. At the top will be several pieces of info including your s-off or s-on status. Make sure you do not have any custom roms or other .zip files in the main directory on your sd card before you do this as the hboot will try to flash it when it detects it.
The very first post in the general forum has a lot of really good info as well. Another excellent helpful resource is the IRC channel for the Evo. The link is in the post.
S-off just means security off, by the way. You can't flash custom roms or other stuff until you have s-off.

Really?! All English!!?? Can you please send me a link to the ROM you're using. I think I saw at least three different MIUI threads in the ROM section and I don't know which one to choose. Link would be amazing!

Wow. That cleared up quite a bit! I'm pretty sure I have a few custom ROMs in the main directory of my SD but when I flashed HBOOT it didn't automatically do/flash anything. I checked and I had S-OFF, I guess it was obvious.
So MIUIs flash ust lke any other ROM...?
comment to ur comment earlier- the most up-to-date "stable" rom is always going to be the that they have stickied.

yes they just flash like a normal rom. But since they do release an update almost weekly, it would be hard to do a complete wipe everytime and titatium back up everything. so miui already has a Miui Backup program in it that will make changing to the next release go smoothly without much of a hassle.
I flashed the MIUI ROM last night and my phone rebooted on its own like a handful of times when I was sleeping. I kept hearing the vibrate sound and seeing the white "HTC EVO 4G" screen like when you first turn on the phone. NOT happy!!
I had the same thing happen to me I love the rom but that's why I went back to my warm rom

Make sure in WiFi setting you have it set to never sleep while on Wifi and your reboots should go away.

So I'm running Kings Rom 7.3 its amazing. Only I'm having data issues, I'm only getting 1k. I haven't updated my radio yet. I'm new to this. I've only been rooted about a month. I did get the custom lock ring to work and I'm now rocking the blue skull. I can't do the ##3282# because the rom comes with a custom dialer. It really didn't bother me that much until I read the post below about the guy getting thrown off sprint for data roaming. Is it just that easy to update to the gingerbread radio? I know I've seen the link so I know I can find it. I also tried updating my PRL and profile to no avail. Any suggestions or is the 1K something I don't need to worry about. It would be nice to get 3g back. Thanks for any help
Stock sprint roms always show data as 3g or 4g. The 1x was added in so you would know what speed you're REALLY at. If it's showing 1x, then chances are you've been at 1x all along... you just didn't know it until now.
Thanks Bill. I appreciate it. I know it's the King's ROM but you did have something to do with the lock ring and boot screen mods? Right? I was tryna post in the Kings Rom thread but since its dev I'm locked out at the moment. I didn't want to PM the King cuz he proly has mad people blowing his **** up. I would love to thank him too. This ROM is ridiculous!!! Next step flashing the transparent task bar...
Also I flashed the new radio,PRI,and wimax from Caulkin's list. Still 1K. Thanks for the info Bill. I was more worried about data roaming issues from the post below of the guy losing his service. Every now and again I get a roaming notification that clicks off after a second. So I got a little scared
Thanks again you guys are amazing.
Thanks. Had nothing to do with the lockscreen mods though.. just some additional color theming and battery icons. Glad you like the rom. Keep an eye out over there... cool new stuff coming out later this week.
Hey there, I'm new to XDA and am sorry if I break the rules! Don't hurt me!
I'm a straight up noob when it comes to this stuff. So please understand when I'm asking the dumbest things. I've been crawling all over XDA for answers. Maybe I'm not looking correctly.
Anyways, I'm running on the MT4G with Zips Creamed Glacier V3.11 and I've got a bunch of questions and problems.
One of the problems is that I cannot make changes to my notifications tone and calling ringtones! When I try to open them up under settings, it crashes.
The other problem has to do with the trackpad. For hours I thought it would not work, there was a cursor (much like using the trackpad on those old blackberrys) that would not open anything up when clicking it. Then I found that it would click something if I pressed the trackpad while moving it at the same time. Can anyone help me with this or explain it?
If possible, I'd like to revert back to the way it used to be before the cursor added, is there a way to edit/customize the rom? If so, where can I find out about this?
Sorry and thanks in advance! I'm just thoroughly confused
Not sure about the notifications. Probably in the ROM thread. But the trackpad, that's all ICS. No way to remove it, that I know of.
Hello G_O_P,
Zip ICS ROM is currently in beta.
It means you may get some issues.
I'm sure trackpad is not a priority since you have a workaround (use the screen). You can probably report your other issues in dev thread with as much detail as possible to help Zipnet.
If you still have the previous version, you can wipe and flash it to go back. You can try another ICS ROM too.
But, you must know that every ICS ROM are currently in heavy dev. If you absolutely need something without any issues, more back to gingerbread (CyanogenMod or a Sense ROM)
Regards

Is there any way to be able to turn on the screen using the trackpad button instead of the power button? On this or other ICS roms?
Thanks

I know this is available in the GB ROMs, but I haven't been able to get it to work on my Glacier with I2IEAILiiTY's edit of CreamedGlacier and IceColdSandwich. I found out from one of the threads that the home button will wake the device (it works on mine). I'm sure it will be in there eventually.
Nice! The home button turns on mine too, thanks for the tip. I'm using IceColdSandwich right now but will probably switch to zips creamed glacier on the next release.
Thanks for your inputs.
And of course in no way am I complaining, I'd love to post in Zips ICS thread, but I can't because I haven't exceeded my ten posts yet.
I'm going to be checking out the other ROMS and play around with them and will check out Zips release when its out!
Thanks again!
If anything, I recommend reverting back to CM7 (TDJ's 7.2 kang is my personal favorite), and then equipping an ICS theme. You get the look of ICS with the stability of Gingerbread.
To get everything looking like ICS, I recommend you download and equip both Kovdev's ADW ICS theme and Sonny Sekhon's ICS CM7 theme from the Play Store (I hate that new name ). I'm sticking to Gingerbread until the devs iron out all the kinks, which I'm sure they will do soon enough.

Hey folks,
I may be getting a MT4G for my 12 year old son off Craigslist. The guy is selling it for $80.00 and said that when he tried to use the camera it makes the screen all weird. He mentioned that someone told him he should flash a new ROM on it and that may fix it or it may be a battery issue.
Thought I would ask here since I don't use the MT4G.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Well, I don't have an answer for you based on experience but...
I just posted a message looking for a replacement camera for my wife's phone. In my searches, I recall reading two threads about cameras malfunctioning after being dropped in liquid. I believe one was dropped in milk and the other in the toilet. In both cases, everything else worked. You may want to ask for a picture of the moisture indicator on the phone.
Another question to ask, is the phone running a custom rom? If so is it an ICS 4.0? If so then yeah more than likely all you need to do is flash another rom

Find out if it is a rooted phone or not and if it is stock or custom rom. might be a bad camera !
..so first thing is to find out what rom it is running and go from there!!
