Yep, resistive. The newer model that should be coming out very soon in capacitive.

The model 105 has a capacitive display

The problem is following: there are 3 or even 4 modifications of s7 out there.
The worst has no GPS, no camera, resistive display and 256mb RAM. There is one with GPS and front cam, but with resistve display. The best one is for sale only in Russia (MTS S7) with Capacitive touchscreen, GPS, 512 RAM, 998MhZ clocked CPU (all other have 786 or smth. like this) and 2 cameras.
The only way to differ, is to look on the back of the device: the one with cap. screen has no Stylus.

I have s7-105 and is capacitive, with 2 camaras and 1Ghz cpu. You can find it in Portugal

The one soldbat best buy is resistive as well, found that out today.. but its very responsive without using a stylus or finger nail.. the screen was very dull and washed out no matter what I did so I passed on it and grabbed a gTab from sears instead.

2 cams capacity display
got one of this to try out and it has 2 cams and a capacity display

I purchased the one from Best Buy and it has 2 cameras and a resistive display. I really like the unit. It is a little heavy. I don't mind the resistive screen as much as some others. I've used Pocket PC's and Windows Mobile phones for years, so I'm used to them.
I can use the tablet with gloves on.

i have the s7-105 version... this one has the capacitive screen, no stylus, 1ghz, dual camera... i'm from the Philippines and the unit came with a plan from Globe Telecom...

I got mine in Taiwan for 11,900NT , which is around 405USD.
It's a 1ghz/420ram/175mb rom, captacitive dual-touch (not mutlitouch, only up to 2 touches ), it has 2 cameras, no build in SD, 2-way rotation locked (not 4-way rotation).
the
came with a leather-case, 8gb micro sd card, and a protective screensticker

S7-105 is capactive but multitouch works only in galery.
Note:
S7-105 model has 1 ghz cpu and 512 mb ram instead of 768/256
I've also changed android.hardware.touchscreen.xml file but still same.
Anyone has an idea how do fix it?

Mine is the 104 version from best buy it has 1ghz processor a resistive display and 460mb Ram I got the info from quadrant benchmark pro

It was advertised as 512 MB RAM, but I won't complain.

The s7-104 from Best Buy is designed to run at 764 MhZ with 512 MB RAM, 2 cameras, and resistive touch screen. As for the RAM listed in reports, some of the 512 Mb is used for the system. After loading, aproximately 180Mb is available for the user as well as any storage available on the 8gb internal sd and any external micro sd card you may have installed. Android Tablets.net has an s7 forum with all the information you would need to flash the indonesian 2.2.2 rom.

My Dream Phone..

Just a random thought, but if you could build you're own phone like you could build a pc what would you get?

Same but quad-core Snapdragons
Honestly..
Mine would be the size of the iPad, running on Android at this time. With the power of a netbook, or potentially even somethin' like the little Alienware netbook at CES this year. I'd utilize a BT Headset for all calls, and would have my "Phone" everywhere I go. (Honestly... A "Pad-type" device wouldn't bother me to carry around, and I much prefer the extra screen space.
I hate to "need" both a phone AND a laptop. Why not just give me both in one device I say.
Specs are specs... Those will climb with the times. Otherwise I'll come and say I want some crazy ass 3Ghz Quad Core processor Suffice to say... Give me the best available. With a device as capable as the Alienware Netbook, and capable of handling all calls... I'd consider droppin' a healthy $1500 on the device without a 2nd thought.

[Q] fake or real?

So, here is the thing, i bought my father a phone from one of those chinese imports, at the time i didnt quite check the autenticity of the product, i looked at the price and purchased, well, my father will never figure it out ir its real or not, im just asking out of curiosity
Here is the link of the item i purchased

(remove spaces)
Sorry, it seems i cant post links, but its sort of necessary for this question
Its funny that even the box looks real, what caught my attention were the sound holes in the back
Anyways, looking for some expert eyes on it, its payed already, im not going to regret my purchase or anything, its just out of curiosity, the link above is filled with imgs of the phone.
Thanks in advance.
By looking at the 6th and 8th pictures (bottom of the phone; open back of the phone) in the description, you can easily tell it's fake. The 3.5mm headphone jack is missing from the bottom of the phone, the hardware Home Button (should be between Call and Start) is missing, and the back of the phone does not have that layout. Heck, the provided battery is 1500mAh, whereas the stock HTC HD2 battery is only 1230mAh.

The internal storage and RAM are pretty low. If I was buying a clone, I'd at least get 1024 storage and 1024 RAM. And preferably the snapdragon CPU.
EDIT: But the key thing to realize is that it will probably NOT work with the standard custom ROMs in these forums; it has different hardware. So whatever you get is what you have for an OS.

Where did you see that? There was a wifi only galaxy tab rom which seemed to have the DSP code for OMAP3, but the samsung page says it's a C110:

Wouldn't think there's much difference in price between a C110 and OMAP3 at this point.

I don't get this. I thought the specs of all 7" Galaxy tabs were 1024x600 with an A8 processor. But the wifi-only version is 800x480 with an omap3630, it appears from looking at the specs at Newegg. I had no idea the versions were so different.
That probably explains the huge difference in price

geez, you're better off getting a nook color then. same processor, better screen, no hard menu buttons, and very, very easy to root.
according to samsung's specs it's the same as the 3g versions: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-wifi-only/GT-P1010CWAXAR-features
The Samsung Homepage states that
Display is 600*1024
Processor is 1GHz A8 Cortex Processor.
I can't imagine them downgrading the Tab Wifi version in such a mayor way...
It's the same as GSM Tab, only without GSM...
It's absolutely not the same as a GSM Tab. I bought one, it's an OMAP3, it's really slow compared to the GSM unit I have. I'm returning it later today.
info
i bought a wifi only version yesterday, the processor is a TI not a hummingbird, but they are both ARM cortex a8 (i think) the screen and resolution are the same, the Graphics chip is indeed a power VR sgx530 instead of the power-VR sgx540 in the GSM version, and possibly there is a difference in the rear camera? not sure only what i heard but im taking it back today because on the box it doesn't say anything about changing the hardware, I'm very disappointed because it would be awesome if they kept the hardware the same but to put different hardware than the 3g version and try to pass it off as the same tablet with wifi only???? SHAME ON YOU SAMSUNG

HD2 - the smallest phone with the biggest screen

Why is it that no-one, not even HTC, can make another phone with a 4.3 screen without making it bigger than the HD2. Even the T-mobile version of the HD2 is bigger than the original HD2. Now that they've released the Sensation it's a whopping 126.1 mm tall, almost 6mm taller - yuk!
Is it really too much to ask to keep the size down to no more than that of the original HD2?
Big screen: yes please.
Big phone: no thanks.
It seems we'll have to wait for the HD3

What the hell are you talking about? The RAM and the CPU are identical. The only thing bigger is the ROM size, but that shouldn't make the TmousHD2 bigger and thicker considering how small the ROM chip is (probably no bigger than the 512MB one).

Exactly - Motorola have managed to fit a dual core CPU and 1GB RAM and 16 GB storage into a much smaller case. So your suggestion that the Sensation has to be bigger to fit in the RAM and the CPU is rubbish.
you're all wrong, what they need to do is start putting smaller midgets in the phones.

I don't think it was a technical need that causes the phone size to be different. My former phone is an TP2 TMOUS. That phone was different from every other TP2 in the world - T-Mobile had HTC design an entirely different front and battery cover. I think they simply want to be different. But it is inconvenient in that one cannot use every accessory that is available.

I think we can't understand each other. The OP ask in the opening post why is newer phones with 4.3 screen !!! are bigger than our HD2. He mentioned the Sensation. Which has 4,3 screen also, but bigger CPU and RAM. I think maybe that is the reason why the Sensation is bigger than the HD2.
Than you give the Motorola as an example, but it has only 4 inch display!!! Of course it fits in a smaller case, because the display's dimension determinates the PDA's length and width. If it would have a (for example) 3,2 inch QVGA display, it could be even smaller...

Yes I know what the OP asked. I wrote it. I know the Motorola has a 4 inch display. But you still haven't grasped the basic flaw in your argument. If Motorola can fit more stuff than the Sensation into a phone with a smaller screen than the HD2, then there's no reason at all why the Sensation with the same screen as the HD2 and less stuff than the smaller Atrix needs to be any bigger than the HD2.
I can't explain it any simpler than that. Maybe comparing more than two phones with different screen sizes and components all together is too much for you.
OK, so the aspect ratio of the Sensation is slightly higher, meaning the length of the screen is actually about 1.5mm more than the HD2 despite the diagonal being the same, but that's no excuse for adding nearly 5mm to the phone length.
Htc has done a great job on the devices even though some are having tiny problems on the buttons or something like that.. Now regarding your thought; internal components are the same regardless how much the gigs are or sizes... They just wanted to be proud of another bigger phone imo.. And i am starting to dislike the idea...:S

Sorry, it's a shame on me. I didn't know i am arguing with the OP...so anyway i check both phones' specifications by number (1 Ghz tegra cpu vs 1,2 Ghz Snapdragon, 5 mpixel cam vs 8 mpixel cam), and if they offer me to choose one of them for free, i would take the Sensation, no matter if it's bigger some mm.
It could also come down to manufacturing costs. A slightly bigger phone might end up cheaper to produce than a smaller, but more densely packed phone. Since most of these companies only truly care about the bottom line, it could be a pretty valid reason.

I actually ordered one (couldn't resist) - should have it in 4-6 days - I'll report my thoughts on it.

dont blame you, it looks really smart
I had to order one too, My transformer has been stepped on a couple times and glitches out a lot, I've been using it as a receiver with my baby monitor but its unreliable. Hopefully this little guy works out.. thanks for the link btw thats a really good deal for an ICS tablet.
They also have white models on that site too, in case you want a white tablet...
Also - I heard that both colors sell out very fast though (just came back in stock), so if you want one, better grab it quick!

Did you see
Display Technology LCD
Max Resolution 800x480
No GPS
I did see that - not an issue for me - don't use or need GPS at all. And for a 7" tablet, 800x480 is fine with me (I have a few 7" tablets at that resolution as they are fine).
Geez, what do you want for $110?!?!?
Eww, 480x800 is ****ty on a 7" screen...
I'll pass on this... especially with a nexus tablet coming soon for only $40 more and it supposedly has twice the memory, twice the cores, newer architecture CPU, and 1280x800 resolution.

Is 512MB RAM enough for ICS? My brother is looking for a cheap e-reader, I might ask him to look at this if it is good enough..

512k is ok for ics but it will be a little slow. My other tablet is an Archos 80 G9 16GB Turbo with 512kb and it cab struggle a little. As long as you keep your multitasking to a minimum, and dont have too many widgets on home screen, it should be ok.

MY wife also has the Archos 80 G9 Turbo and it has no issues at all with ICS. I don't think she even understands the concept of multi-tasking and I deleted most widgets since she has no use for them anyways.
I own a Novo 7 Basic with basically the same features (except it runs MIPS), and ICS is quite a lot slower with 512MB RAM compared to 1024MB. Its really noticable.
If it was me, Id rather buy an Ainol ELF (or Auroa, hard to get though). 1024x600 res compared to 800x480...
I dont know the price in US$, but they arent much more expensive than the one OP linked.
Of course, if youre in need of 3G, the one in OP is better.
ICS with that music player and keyboard?
Doubt it, but we'll see once they're shipped.

512 on a phone isn't the same as on a tablet.. (the size makes a difference in processing power right?)

No the size does not the resolution does. and considering the res is 480x800 which is the same as the original galaxy s i do not think it will be a problem
If anyone is wondering, this Hyundai brand is NOT the same Korean company that makes cars and electronics. It's a Chinese knock off.

It could be the MIPS cpu... ICS seems relatively snappy on the Kindle Fire which has only 512MB but also a much faster cpu.
