Camera nowhere to be found - Droid 2 General

I am running fission 2.4.3 on my d2 and have been trying out a lot of different themes simply installing each over the other. When I finally found one that I liked, I went to flash my non-themed 2.4.2 backup so that I could start fresh. However, upon bootup, my camera and camcorder apps couldn't be found anywhere on the phone.
Please help because I miss my camera

Install the multimedia package from frm
Sent from my WICKED FAST Droid 2 Global with fission using XDA app

I saw this add on in frm and was wondering if it would be the fix. I will dl right away.
Any ideas on why I didn't need to do this on the first go around?

Without a lot of bias (ROM question)

I am looking at a new ROM, I am leaning towards Apex, or Fission but would like suggestions on what the best (better) Droid X ROM is out there. UpsideI, downside etc.
FYI, I am rooted, Deodexed using the 928 black glass, and currently running an Incognito Red theme blurless (which I really like the font of and would like to keep at least the font)
TIA
tried both, sticking with fission right now. Although....Apex was very smooth, but at the time I was using it I was on a release day X that couldnt overclock past 1.1, and with Apex I had about 10 reboots a day. Currently on a new DX that easily overclocks and since installing fission I havent gone back (although im tempted to try Rubix Focused) If you want a clean rom to start with though try fission. Its like starting with a clean copy of Windows, very nice
On fission after being on apex, loving the support on fission. Had no issues with apex rebooting just wanted a change. Gotta say I'm not going back to apex anytime soon.
Whichever you choose, I recommend an sbf before changing between roms. I didn't coming from apex to fission.

Thank for the feedback, however a noob question. With the method of how I deodexed (928 black glass) are there certain ROMS I can or cannot/should not run over this? Blur, Blurless etc? Would I still be able to run the Incognito theme blurless over Fission?
TIA
you wont have any issues, but if you want to double check for yourself open root explorer (i hope you have it) and search for *.odex
An SBF and then following the Fission directions to a T is a must though.
As for themes, only use those compatible, or if there are certain features in a theme you like you can take those specific packages and install them
Fission and darkslide are my favorites. Make a backup and try them all. If you don't like it restore a backup or flash another.

I went from Fission to Rubix, Rubix to me has been much more stable then Fission.

What themes can I put over Rubix? I really like Revolution and Incognito are any of these applicable to rubix?

Not so sure what themes you can put over Rubix I'm sure it's on the roms thread. Right now the theme I'm on is called darkberry, you can find it on droid life forum.

Best way to tell which ROM is best for you is to try 'em all out and decide for yourself. You might be supprised at what you may find.

[Q] Squidly vs Fission (themes)

....mods if this is in the wrong section I do apologize, it seems I can't figure out where to correctly post my questions as they seem to be moved every time I think I have it figured out lol...
anywho....
Does anyone know if the awesome themes created for Fission will work on my Squidly ROM? I currently have 2.3.2 Squidly running now and am very happy with it, just don't know if I can use the cool themes for Fission.
Thanks!
I just flashed the black theme that comes with fission to squidly 2.3.20 and it seems to work just fine. It replaces the blur lockscreen with vanilla as well.

You can always try it and see if it works .. just make sure you do a nandroid backup first so you can revert if something messes up.
if you are lucky then it won't cause any problems,
but since themes normally replace framework-res & apps, it can cause problems if the files don't match
but in worst case you simple re-flash the original rom or sbf

What rom to use for droid x

I prefer Team Black Hats TranQuility 3.6 Rom. It allows you to add whatever blur features you want straight from the TranQ toolbox. Very fast and very stable.

[Q] Liberty 2.0.1 to GB or not to GB ; )

Hello all,
My first post here, I'm checking out friend's phones that have GB running and really like the way things look and feel. Also seems to have more options or functionality over 2.2... I was wondering what the most efficient way to go from Liberty 2.0.1 over to GB would be? I really haven't wanted to change form 2.0.1 since i've had it basically the speed and function is nice as is... Is there a good reason to go to GB from Liberty and and how? Appreciate the help!
Cheers
I say GB.
I believe that you can get a GB Liberty ROM from the donate Liberty Toolbox.
Sorry I can't help you out any further.

Well, I say you do yourself a favor and upgrade to rooted GB! If you like Liberty so much, you can buy the Liberty Toolbox and get the GB Liberty ROM (and support the dev at the same time), that way you can have both. The Liberty ROM is being updated regularly because technically it's not out of "nightly" status yet, but it is VERY stable and works great. The cleanest way in my opinion to get from where you are to rooted official GB, is to SBF back to stock froyo, and then use the 2 part GB install (I'll link instructions to both). Here's how to sbf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0jrXqqiepI. After you do that, follow these instructions using the files located here (use method two which is listed after the line that says "Patched update.zip (not signed)" in bold) http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...-5-596-release-thread-something-everyone.html. Once you are done with these steps, you can get the Liberty Toolbox and open it. Hit the "ROM Manager" tab, then "Nightlies" tab, and click on the latest Liberty Gingerbread rom (currently v0.8) and it will guide you from there. Enjoy!
Thanks!
@rruready, @Lofi Goosh-
Really appreciate the info! Super awesome I am gonna try doing it now- Thank you for the messages, hope your days are great and have a good weekend!
I'll post my results here when I get things set up-
Cheers!
Liberty GB .8 is pure win.

If your looking to get a lot of different options, go to cyanogenmod. The only thing not working on it is the camera and gps, but it is way worth it. just look up a video on youtube of cyanogenmod 7
CM7 is what I'm running and there are definitely more bugs than just the camera (which has a workaround) and the GPS (which there is a fix for); however, I'm still using it because even with all the issues, it's still rocking my world.
CM7 for the Droid X (CM4DX) can be found here:
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?389-ROM-BETA-CyanogenMod-7-for-the-Droid-X
@ Maltmix, you may just want to try both Liberty GB and CM4DX as it really all depends on user preference.
Thanks for the great links and advise everyone! In regards to SBF, I think I have everything set up I had downloaded the 2 part file for 2.3.340 installed RDSLite, and installed motorola DX drivers, but RDSLite won't see my X.. I noticed alot of folks were saying something similar, not sure what to do from here.. I want CM7 but want to wait till the bugs are more polished lol shiny bugs! ; )

I was able to find an alternative to RDSLite for you. The instructions indicate easy use... the definite plus side is that you can burn these ISO's or put them on a flash drive to SBF from any machine.

Gingerbread Camera
I have Rooted Gingerbread on my X now, went to the Liberty 0.8GB Nightly, and all was well.. I was prompted to update or modify if i wanted via Liberty, and did that, but upon recommended reboot, i got stuck in a bootloop..
Lots of time and patience later, somehow finally got into recovery and re-flashed GB..
Everything is back on my phone, but the stock camera isn't the updated one that froyo and GB have, it's somehow reverted to the earlier not so good camera..
I was wondering if there is a way to update the camera to the most current google camera?
Thank you guys and gals so much for the assistance, I hope to be able to help other people someday too!
Thanks LG! I should try cm7dx, too really like it then?

Most stable ROM?

Greetings from the Galaxy S forums. My cousin has a Droid 2 and I noticed it was very laggy. I new it could be better. She is not tech savy and I only see her about once every couple of months, so whichever ROM I choose to put on for her has to be stable, she is thinking about switching to the iPhone because hers is so slow, so please, help me keep her on the good side of the force!

Use fission rom
All you need to do is download fission rom manager and Droid 2 bootstrap I believe.
from fission rom manager you can download the rom and install. There are also themes and boot animations.
Fission is pretty much vanilla android. Download launcher pro to eliminate homescreen lag.
Also, use titanium backup to back up all apps and data she has before installing the new rom.
Sent from my Fission Droid2 Global
i think youd get a better response over at droid forums, they have at least 12-15 different roms over there.
The Droid 2 and OG Droid can run the same ROM's?

No, roms for every phone are different.
Also, if you can't choose a rom, download Launcher Pro on said phone. This is a homescreen replacement and will get rid of most of the homescreen lag.
If she wants to switch back to the stock launcher she needs to have
"Homesmack" and "Moto Home Fix" installed (both of these are in the market, you can install these for her as well)
Homesmack lets you choose which homescreen to set as the default. Moto Home Fix is needed if she wishes to go back to the Motorola launcher (it's not a launch-able app, just a fix to go along with Homesmack)
cyanogenmod 7
Check out the Cyanogenmod 7 thread for this device and download the latest build of cyanogenmod 7 and flash it over the stock rom.
You need koush droid 2 bootsrap to get CWM and wipe cache and data then flash cyanogenmod 7
May the force be with you!!!!
IMO, Fission is very stable and quick.
