I found numerous threads about this by searching, but no solution. Surely there's a way to disable the slide lock mechanism so that the phone goes straight to pattern lock...? I found widgets that will remove both, but not just the slide one. I'd prefer to do this without root, but also would be interested in how to do it if root is the only method.

CM 7 has the pattern lock screen with no slide to unlock. You just press the unlock button on the top of the phone, and it goes straight to the pattern unlock screen. You do the pattern, and the phone is unlocked.

Is it possible to have the regular slide to unlock followed by the pattern?
If I use a PIN or password, I get the slide to unlock screen first, but when I use a pattern, I lose the slide to unlock screen.
I really like being able to put my phone on vibrate on the unlock screen, but I want to use a pattern to unlock it.
Can I have both? Is it possible?
If you can't find a way to get the slide back on, you can still put your phone on vibrate from the lock screen. If you press and hold the power button on the lock screen you get the option for 'silent mode' it is the same as the slide though, on 2.2 it switches to vibrate.

Is anyone else anoyed by the redundant unlock process with 2.2? In 2.1 I had a pattern unlock only, you were able to disable the single swipe thing. Now it appears if you activate any kind of unlock (pattern, PIN, password) you will have to swipe the screen first to even get to the unlock pattern. Why? Only way to delete the swipe is to have no unlock pattern at all.
I did at first but I found out that you can control music with that lock screen. So when I have it hooked up in my car I dont have to unlock the phone just to change the song. After a while I just got used to it...
I had it disabled when I upgraded... now it's nowhere to be seen. WidgetLocker it is. Sort of your problem reversed.
ah ha! i knew i wasn't hallucinating. I had some audio controls for pandora even in 2.1 at one point, but they mysteriously disappeared. anyone know how to get that feature back?
im using the miui rom and i've seen people post that they have the option of doing slide unlock with pin lock coming up right after. is there anyway of doing that with the miui rom?
Hi, so on my Droid 3 Stock GB/ Motoblurr I could set a lockscreen pattern, and put a delay. So if I lock the device, and then unlock it within 3 minutes of locking it, I would have to slide to unlock it, but would not need my passcode. Is there a way to do this with a tweak maybe, I can delay the pattern but then I do not need to slide it, which I would like to do.
A bit annoying if you change the way the device lock pattern , then still have to "slide" the lock screen and then u see the pattern lock... in the old galaxy its not like this..

Whenever im going to unlock tha phone, the option is to slide to unlock. Though im using the pattern and Fingerprint lock. But still whenever im about to unlock, the slide to unlock exist and people could unlock my phone. Maybe sammy doesn't know this problem.

I have slide to unlock on mine but when you use it, you then have to either enter your pin or use fingerprint, It doesn't just let you into the phone does it ?
