"We're also glad that it comes with a built-in Netflix app"

anyone else catch this little golden nugget in reference to hands on with the LG Revolution and see it on the video. they did not say if its a streaming app or the one from the market that only lets you manage your queue but i doubt they would release a phone with an unofficial 3rd party app pre-installed on it.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ac/20110105..._remote_control_button_deal_indicates_as_much
"Netflix, the popular video streaming and online movie rental service, not only has iPhone apps, Android apps and allows consumers access to their rentals via online access, but now the company is apparently taking over remote controls as well."
gotta get that apk!
NAOOOOO!!!!

The netflix app isn't out yet. I think its going to come pre installed on that phone, and the app should be in. the market by the time the phone comes out. And that app in the market now isn't made by netflix.

Exactly. It's not the official app.
BTW the Thunderbolt RUU leaked and maybe a dev can look in the ROM file and pull the apk if it exists in that phone.

Netflix for Android App is Confirmed in Verizon LG Revolution Demo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ymDAuyiMds
The long-rumored Netflix app for Android is confirmed in the following Verizon LG Revolution 4G demo as being pre-installed on the just-announced phone (expected in the next few months).
Due to DRM issues, the Netflix app will not be released on all phones, and Netflix has not confirmed the phones that will get the Android app yet.
via AndroidCentral. Thanks to FearNo1, Steve and Kevin for sending this in.
well if not all phones now, but soon google did buy the DRM company that netflix uses or something to that extent
lets hope for a rru leak for the LG Revolution
If it's as good as the Netflix app that the iPhone uses then we will be in good shape!

Most likely it won't be as good. The iPhone apps tend to be better than the Android version.
Even if the apk is in the ruu for a different phone, will it even work on the Evo?

It should. They may need to tweak it like they did the NFL verizon app.

It probably has a bunch of deep DRM stuff in the ROM. I don't think it will be as simple as inserting DB file into a system folder.
I would love the steam recovery ported to the streak. Can this be done? Dj ?

It would be great if we had a few more devs with Streaks as DJ Steve is doing everything! Here's hoping he doesn't get another phone!

Sure I do... Not sure where you are going with your reply so I will just say this... I just wanted to let all the casual/new xda forum users know so its easier for them to find the info. That's all. I think its awesome that steve is doing that... I have a friend running HC on the nook color and its sweet. It works so good that he won't switch back to froyo. Sure its a little buggy but for the most part, absolutely everything works on it app wise. The superuser.apk app doesn't work so you have no idea who you are giving root access to but other than that its the bomb.com
Anything in the news yet?

I'm simply surprised it took seven months to notice.
Which apps do you hope will arrive for Honeycomb soon?
Right now, I'd like the SiriusXM app to work.
That and Skype video chat.
Google Voice would be nice.... you would think it would be on the google agenda

Yeah, it seems obvious that I'd know that but I didn't even think about doing that! Thanks for the tip.
But of course the app itself is beautiful and would look stunning when optimized for tablets.
AM i asking for to much by wanting to use my tablet as a phone from time to time lmao
A app like clipnabber.com to pull videos from the web are video download helper plugin for one of the browsers in the market

I am bored with my inspire, so I'm trading for a streak tomorrow. Any tips for flashing or good Rome to play around with?

Streak Wiki at xda-developers.com – includes DL links for ROMS and a ROM reference, lots of good info. Start here!
Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM – MUST READ if you want to flash a ROM or upgrade
Dell Streak – The Complete Guide – thread at XDA that includes a somewhat dated PDF with Streak hacking basics. Read the thread for follow-up!
Modding your Streak - where to start?
Using StreakMod Recovery
More stuff in the links in my signature.
Visit the development section here at XDA and read the threads about the various ROMS.
Most popular seem to be StreakDroid 1.6.1 or later and SimpleStreak.
Welcome aboard.
I just moved from inspire to streak.
A bit missing AMOLED of inspire, especially for movies.
BTW, get use to it now. And really happy with larger display.
May SS Galaxy player turn to a phone, that will be perfect.

Re SS Galaxy; Check out Viewsonic ViewPad7 Tablet/Phone. Definitely need to use bluetooth for talking or use tablet speakers.
But, I am still partial to the Streak

Yes Rico, I too am very intrigued by the ViewPad 7.... but given its size, I'd strictly be a closet user, and probably never in public (other than use it like a tablet only). It's bad enough already whenever I'm "Streaking" in public..... I hear "Run for your lives, it's a giant python"

Lol, Hildebrandt! Excellent descriptions! Id be totally out of the closet with a 7" (screen). Especially if im using a bluetooth. I would think others would be intrigued with a tablet that can also do calls. As far as "Streaking" in public, dude! Take their startled responses as a compliment when they comment about our pythons!
Think about it, after the initial shock when they see our (Streak), whats usually their next response: "..Can I hold it?.."
Unfortunately, I already get approached by way too many curious strangers when I whip it out of my pants in public.... "I've never seen one that big", or, "Dude, put that thing back in your pants before you injure somebody" On another note, in my neck of the woods (DC), using my phone in public is a good way to get it snatched by thieves and politicians (because they all dress identically and some people pose as both)
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I hear you! And I've come to appreciate and accept that the power of the Streak has no boundaries. Ive all but given up fighting off guys walking over to my cubicle at work , "staring at it" then whipping theirs out and laying theirs next to mine and say "just how big IS that thing!". Things are big in here in Texas, but I guess the Streak is practically the 8th Wonder , outdoing the dome!
Wow, thats scarey, in DC, crooks and politics both coveting yours and if you pull it out in public, its hard to tell which grabbed it. Well, at least congressman Weiner aint one of 'em. But, watch out for that Boner, I mean Boehner!
ROFL @ Rico...... Funny thing is, I'm on "The Hill" almost every day, too..... Yeah, trust me, I know to be on the lookout for other German Boners who, unlike me, are wanna be political climbers LOL
