Picked up an HDMI cable to try tvout. When I tap on the tvout widget the video and sound gets piped out to the tv fine. A dialog pops asking to hit ok or cancel with a 15 second countdown. A mouse pointer appears on the screen when touching the screen but I unable to double click to keep it from resetting. How do I double click when in tvout mode?
Thanks in advance.
Double tap the screen? i assume the screen on the archos works as a large laptop trackpad when video is being output to a tv screen

Tried that. No go. Quick update: Read a post on the Archos Fan forum and people reported the same issue. They basically said you have to do it very carefully. I'll give it another try tonight.
okay please share with us your results , i did encounter a bug whilst testing this on the archos 43 with the latest firmware, i plugged it into my tv via hdmi and it timed out like you said, so i went to system monitor and ended all tasks plugged it in again and my archos displayed the french flag on my screen (no kidding!) at this point i was very confused, i removed the hdmi and plugged it in again and this time it worked and it didnt prompt me to click ok (no timeout) any ideas why my archos decided to do any of these things? not that it matters but i just found it rather odd, thanks oh and sorry for using your thread friend
I was able to get it to work after reading the same post. Your Archos becomes a giant trackpad that is in sync with your TV so you have to touch it in the right place to represent the button on the screen to okay the TV out. It worked for me but the trackpad usage sucks.

Better connect usb mouse and keyboard... still not optimal (clone view would be best), but much better use than guessing where to tap on the archos screen.

Im sorry for posting this here but I cant post in the development forum. I did the webtop through hdmi hack. I am on 4.5.91 so I used the files provided in that section. Everything seemed to go through fine....with the exception of the missing dockprovider apk. Now when i connect the atrix to my tv via hdmi webtop option pops up. If i select it on my phone the red m will show up on both my tv and phone screen. Then the webtop interface will display on the tv however on my phone the screen dims and goes back to my regular home page with the google search bar and widgets and such. When i use my finger on the phone sreen it registers as moving the mouse cursor on the tv screen however it doesnt go to that black screen that has the two buttons on the bottom....one of which is to pull up the keyboard. So essentially i have webtop working per se but my phone wont display the black screen that is supposed to display so its not usable. I did press on the screen where the keyboard button is supposed to be and then started tapping in random spots on the screen and it was typing I just cant tell where the letters are since its not showing up on screen. Cany anyone provide any help plz.
EDIT** Using the method in this thread worked for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144119
Im thinking you're going to have to reinstall again, and maybe possibly your rom. The other option is to find exactly what's missing and get the files you need put on your phone.
I voided my warranty.
Using my Acer A500 whenever I connect it using the Micro HDMI it does appear on the screen but it seems to have part of the screen cut off. The status bar on the bottom of the screen and then about the same space on the top and sides.
Is there anything you can get for a root ICS tablet to change the output?
Could it be the cable I am using a 10ft cable?
Or this just what it looks like does the whole screen just never fit.
The TV is a 37 inch HD ready Beko
It outputs at 720p. Does your TV support that resolution?? I have had none of the problems your describing while using the HDMI out.

It does support it as my Xbox output is 720p and when the tablet is connected it says on the tv its output is 720P 60HZ.
any other ideas?
I have the same issue butnot with my TV. My TV will show the entire screen but when I plug into a projector it cuts off part of the screen. I would not think the HDMI out is device dependent but it is certainly looking like it.
Not sure if you checked this, but this happened to me yesterday. What had happened was that the zooming on the TV was causing the problem. It was on 16:9, and cut off some parts. Went through the zooming options until I found one that showed the entire screen (can't remember what it was called).

on a,LG,phillips its original zise a samsung: full screen
Im having the same issue as well, 37" Panasonic LCD. Its fully capable of 1080p as well as 720. I remember connecting my motorola atrix and droid bionic to the TV and both those phones have an HDMI setting --> Overscan setting that you adjust using a slider. With those 2 phones however they problem wasn't the screen getting cut off, it was too small, and adjusting the overscan as high as it could go made the output from the phone fit the tv PERFECTLY.
In our instance, we would need that same overscan slider, and to turn it down. BTW: that setting on the phone was set in the middle by default (say at 50%), so the phone would need it adjusted to 100%, where as our tablet would need it at 0 or near zero...
Sorry if this has been asked before, I did try the search feature but it did come up with nothing on this particular problem.
Ok, I've just bought myself an Acer W500 tablet and I love it! I am however a massive XBMC fan and this seems to be giving me some grey hairs..
The main problem is the touch controls. Everything runs fine, but for some reason there's a mouse pointer on the screen that moves to my every touch. Every time I touch the screen the "options panel" hidden on the left side also pups up and I mean every time!! The hardest part is actualy getting the OSD controls to work during movie playback. It's so bad that I have to tap the "stop" button around 20 - 30 times before the tap actualy registers.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problems?
Any advice?
Thanks for taking the time to read this..
Anyone else notice this? When using HDMI out, and using the Youtube app, the full screen option disappears, and you can't put a YouTube video in full screen when in the YouTube app. When going to YouTube via Chrome, you can do it. It's very annoying. Do you think this is an intentional move by Google, or is it just an oversight?
I guess they want to implement it the way it works in the Play Movies app. The movie plays on the TV and you can browse on the tablet. Maybe they didn't have enough time to implement it but didn't want to waste time on a fullscreen option that they would have to remove later on.
I don't know ... its very annoying though!
1. Find video.
2. Unplug HDMI
3. press full screen button
4. Plug HDMI back in.
Boom. Full screen over HDMI.
Slightly annoying, but it works.

Works well enough that it will do until Google fixes it. Thanks. :good:

Except Play Movies doesn't work that way on the N10. On my old TF700, that's how it (and Netflix) worked; but on the N10, it just mirrors the whole screen, scaling it down so that the movie displays in a 16:10 replica of the N10's screen on the TV.
Is there a way to change this so that it works the way you're saying?
This was designed to work with a dock but it might work for HDMI output too.

I am curious i have a hp extreme slate 7, I plugged in the hdmi cable to watch movies on my tv and it works flawlessly however i am wondering if there is a way to shut off the tablet screen playing video while watching a movie on the tv? I thought it would be a good idea if it could do that but upon thinking about it more I dont think that it will because you have to shut down the touch screen. Please let me know if there is anything already on this subject or ideas. I have a usb keyboard and gamepads to actually navigate the websites and stuff if the screen is off just havent found anything on it yet. Thank You
There's an app called second screen which has an option to turn the backlight off, the touchscreen still works but it's a lot less distracting.
