Back to stock - Legend General

Just checking if I got this right.
I'm about to sell my Legend (just ordered a Desire HD), so I want to revert back to stock. The phone is currently rooted and S-OFF using AlphaRev hboot patch.
Will the phone be completely reset if I run RUU? I just want to be 100% sure of this...
thanks.

It'll still be S-OFF

Even if hboot is flashed with the update? If so, how do I remove S-OFF?

Given that we can't downgrade the bootloader, even if the RUU does include one it won't flash it.

Isn't there any RUU with hboot 1.00 or 1.01? Considering my hboot is 0.43.0001

You're S-OFF with 0.43? Well, an RUU of 2.2 will do the trick then

Care to explain how you can have s-off with HBoot 0.43 when it's automatically uppdated to 1.0 when you run the s-off sequence?

Damn, you're right.. My bad! :/ HAdn't actually checked the version, I thought that the 0.43 vas patched, not updated.. Is there any way to restore 1.00?

I don't think so, you'd have to go higher to 1.01 by Froyo RUU...

If you are selling don't worry about removing S-off (since if you upgrade the purchaser cannot S-OFF anymore)
But if you are adamant :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870345 will do the trick and remove S-OFF

How to unroot? back to stock

hi all,
i would like to unroot my desire Z completely to stock rom.
And i would not want those silly questions; why would you want it ? it sucks blabla.
I just do it for my guarantee.
So i cant find an official RUU.
I thought i could take the 1.34 original PC10IMG to downgrade it to 1.34.
but im kinda scared, cause im permrooted got S-off, and a engineeringspl.
So can i just apply the original 1.34 PC10IMG or will it brick then?
I already googled but couldnt find anything.
Please help me to completely unroot.
Greetings,
Nick
What ROM are you running right now ?
When you say you have S-OFF, is that only through the eng hboot ,or have you used gfree to get full radio S-OFF ?

thought i used both lol first gfree and after that i took the old hboot process to gain s-0ff. now running vitiouw 0.9.5
If you have radio S-OFF via gfree, then you are perfectly safe to flash an older stock ROM. The dangerous scenario is if you only have S-OFF via the eng hboot (not gfree) and then flash a stock ROM.

As long as you used gfree to get full radio S-OFF (e.g. you ran gfree -s and it worked) then you are safe. If you're unsure, then see how to check if you have radio S-OFF in the Wiki at http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik..._Vision#VERIFY_.28using_.22gfree_verify.22.29
Well i use visionary and terminal using the 1st method of rooting. I had to send my phone in for replacemnt because of the headphone jack didnt work. So i had to unroot by useing hex editor and terminal. Lol really time consuming to unroot

2.3.3

i just update to 2.3.3.. izzit mean that my dhd is now a s-off phone?
No, not at all!!!
S-off is something way different! ... there is radio S-OFF and ENG S-OFF
You can learn the difference between them from HERE
You need to be rooted to do both of these. You can know what is needed to S-OFF (radio or ENG) from the links provided above.

How can i Downgrade HBOOT 1.01.0002 to HBOOT 1.01.0001?
answer plz
There is. But why do you want to?
HTC Wildfire
HBOOT: 6.01.1002 S-OFF
ROM: CM7 Stable 7.0
coz members are reporting getting the new alpharev x beta to work on that hboot version more ...
new version alpharev not worked hboot 1.01.0002
There is no need to have 1.01.0001 HBoot just for S-Off'in

There are apparently different versions of HBoot 1.01.0002, and, AlphaRevX does not work on all of them.
HBoot Downgrade process is here, but, you will have to atleast know how to handle the Android SDK, ADB and Command Prompt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13114319&postcount=29
Hm.. If so, so why then when generating wildfire key in alpharev website you are asked about HBoot and you can select 1.01.0002 also?
As I said, there are different versions of 1.01.0002. There are many for whom AlphaRev X works for HBoot 002, but many for whom it doesn't.
Also, I am not saying this. Many asked the devs themselves, and they themselves confirmed it.
correct, ive been told you can maybe get back to .001 from .002 with this rom

sorry i think is more complicated than that. there are some people working on it in #alpharevx freenode channel
Downgrade from HBOOT 1.01.0002 to HBOOT 1.01.0001 worked for me using
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe and the instructions found here:

After this procedure AlpharevX Beta worked .... YAY
Thanks a whole bunch for all the skilled guys here

You can easily sell the phone with S-OFF. It can actually increase the value to so wanna be tech nerd who's too afraid to turn S-OFF himself.
Seriously go pick any phone and look them up on eBay. The rooted ones usually sell for more than the unrooted ones.

Root it real quick!
All you need is to put the 2.2 PD15IMG.zip on your SD card and reboot into bootloader and you'll have a 2.2 phone pretty quick. Then you can run Visionary and you'll be set. Should take a total of 15 minutes, including the time to download 2.2 and Visionary.
Then you'll have a fully rooted S-Off phone to sell on eBay. Be sure to put that in big letters in the auction description.

That won't work... You can't downgrade to 2.2.1 through the PD15IMG file

This is the thread you need if you have S-OFF already and want to root it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200147
The first PD15IMG.zip in that thread gives you Clockwork Recovery, and then you can boot into that to apply the Superuser zip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
Also if you have S-Off already, you can downgrade to 2.2.1 using the appropriate RUU or PD15IMG.zip, and it won't care about version number.
And the instructions for reverting to S-ON from Gfree are here partway down in the post:

You can if you have the downgraded bootloader can't you? And if he's got S OFF I assumed the bootloader was already downgraded.
In any case, it's super easy to downgrade it and fully root it no matter what the steps are. And if it's rooted it's worth more on eBay

I cannt find the m5hash to do a simple file search
so I am hopeing some one can help me in this matter
Ty in advance
You need a PC to unlock your bootloader to root, unless you are already s-off. If you are only unlocked you still need a PC to fastboot flash recovery. Without USB support you're pretty much out of luck for rooting.
ETA: with your hboot version you may be able to use unrevoked to gain s-off but you will need to downgrade your radio for it to work and I'm not 100% sure you can downgrade radios with s-on, its been a while since I've flashed a radio on the evo, and I'm not sure unrevoked will work with radios above 2.10

Revolutionary is for 2.16, I misread it at first and tthought he had 2.18 but that's why I corrected it and said unrevoked works for hboot 2.10, I just don't know if it will work with 2.15 radio or if the radio needs to be downgraded. Unrevoked was the only way to get s-off without a PC for adb/fastboot commands. Without USB support its not going to be simple to root with radio and hboot being mismatched. The only option may be to upgrade to hboot 2.16 and run revolutionary or 2.18 and use htcdev then downgrade and gain s-off. Its not like there's a simple app to one-click s-off HTC devices, unfortunately. I'm not even sure which unrevoked would be needed to s-off 2.10 with 2.15 radio, and if the radio needs to be downgraded idk if you can downgrade em without s-off, its been a while since I've flashed radios on my evo and i haven't had to s-off it in a long time, I think my hboot is like 0.97 or something older than dirt by phone standards
