I love the voice input of my Focus but after a while it fails and doesn't accept any sound input. Anyone else having this problem? My solution so far is to restart the phone.

That's a new one for me and sounds pretty odd. Are you trying to call contacts? Mine just misinterprets most of my attempts to dial contacts. MS Voice Command on WM 6.5 was FAR more accurate for me.

Same happens to me! Only restart solves the problem.

Same happened to me and even restarts didn't help. Just tried it after a day of not and it is working again. Weird.
I had the same thing on my phone. I like to think the phone gets tired of listening to me all day, so I turn it off when I go to sleep. Before that, restart fixed it.
reboot doesn't work for me either. I have tried uchecking then rechecking the voice input option under settings. I'm at a loss. I had downloaded the app driving safe.ly and I think that somehow f'ed it up, as you had to purchase the app to use the voice response part of the app. I have since uninstalled it and rebooted, but still no voice input on the android keyboard for sms or voice search.
Anyone know if this problem is device specific? I really want this issue solved. I will write to MS or Samsung to get it resolved I just need to know whoese fault it is.
Still having this problem. Anyone else? Anyone know how to reboot the voice input?
I'm pretty sure this is a known bug. The voice input will stop working after plugging in headphones and you must reset to fix.
If you use headphones and remove them the voice search stops working, calls still work.
This is a Samsung problem and they know about it. You should email them too, cause this has gone on for two months with no fix.
It's not just the voice input application. Shazam fails also. Soft reset solves it for me also.
It's terrible. Shazam, the camera, and voice search all suffer from this.

My phone is not rooted. This just started this week. I have not adjusted any settings for quite a while so I am pretty sure I did not do anything to cause it.
Since getting my Note 3 in October I use the voice method of inputting text for email and sms quite often. When starting a message where I want to voice inpput, I click the microphone button and speak what I want to send. Works well for me. Thursday the phone started making a loud, very annoying, beep type sound whenever I launch this by clicking the microphone. It happens even when the phone is in silent mode. I checked the sound options in the phone settings and everything is set as it has always been. All system and keyboard sounds are turned off. I also tried another keyboard app rather than the phone default and it is the same with that.
Does anyone have an idea why this started and how to silence it? Thanks!
I guess this is not an issue for others here. I did find the exact problem on another forum and it started for him just a few days ago also. So maybe something updated automatically that caused this. We will see if more people start complaining about it. By the way we have tried a few different suggestions, including resets, but nothing turns off the noise yet.
0n edit: I looked at my apps to see what recently updated. One of the recent updates was to Google Search. I uninstalled all the updates to Google Search and the problem is gone. So it is a bug in the most recent update to Google Search that turns on that sound with no way to turn it off.
I am stuck with an annoying problem. The other parties can NOT hear my voice. I have tried recording voice using voice recorder and it works. What it could be a hardware or software issue.
The phone is an official kitkat, not rooted.

I dont know the exact location of the mute/unmute button but there is one in the lg app i believe so its not an hardware issue and probably also not an software one cause you have maybe clicked the button accidently. Can you go through the dialer app to find some settings where that might be located? But i guess you need to call someone first again to enable your mic

No that can't be the cause , the problem goes after rebooting the phone sometimes and sometimes do not even after restart. It is quite random.

Well you can might consider to reflash stock or do factory reset if it just goes like that but i dont think its an hardware issue if you dont have mic during call but recording you have but the g2 has 2 microphones i thought so maybe one of them is failing or what. I could be wrong since i am thinking bout lots of phones atm.
I was thinking same. but factory reset is very bothering, all installed applications and data will be gone. . I am also much confident that it is not an hardware issue
Well the onky thing i can say is to look again in the dialer and incall ui to see the mute button and press unmute, try to logcat, look in the settings app and or google more about the second mic how you can test it cause i dnt know how out of my head.
software problem

is software problem. Root and install a custom rom , wait an firmware upgrade or go to service guys.
Hi Guys
Someone else have that problem, that when you make a call, the other person on the line can't hear you? It's like the mic isn't running. If i click more numbers, the other one can hear that. With an other dial app it works. But i want the stock one to run?!
UPDATE: Ok i found out, that when i turn on Speakers and then turn off again, it works.
Also i found out, that when you click on a call you did bevor (so you don't have to type in the number) it will never work. if i type in the whole number, it will work from time to time
Greetings
Aivilon
Mine works fine. I have no issues making calls.
Yeah, I think you got a problem...
Hi everyone! Just got the Edge after switching to Verizon (damn Note not available thanks to recall) and I have a problem with Google Now not hearing any voice commands. If I have a bluetooth headset on it works fine, but using the phone's mic somehow doesn't work. I tested S Voice and that responds fine, but when I switch to Google it doesn't work at all. Already tried uninstalling updates and switching off permissions.
Thanks!
You know the screen has to be on, or the device has to be charging for Google Now voice commands to work right? Other than that, I don't know what the problem could be.
Yes, but even from inside the app, if I click on the mic, and hear the confirmation sound, the phone won't hear anything I say unless I deep throat the phone, and even then it misinterprets my commands. S Voice and the voice recorder app work fine, but just not Google Now.

Is your offline language set to the language you speak? Verify that and also try to retrain the recognition. If that doesn't work I know that the S6 had problems with Google now working when S Voice wasn't disabled.
Sorry for the delay but yes it is. I have since gotten rid of the S7 Edge in order to get the Note...lucky me...but thanks for your help!

A little off topic, but you kept your note?
I had this issue when I had Cortana installed with Hey Cortana turned on. No chance you have that on is there?
Didn't see you had gotten rid of it....best of luck.

I'm waiting for the damn Pixel to ship. Just annoying because so many Note users have to buy different phones so it's getting backed up.
I'm on BQK5 (Latest) for sprint and when I say ok google I no longer get any type of display notification that it is listening. This is fine if i have my car input set to the phone bluetooth as I'll hear the beep but when I don't I have no idea it is listening. Does anyone else have this happening? Not even a flashing screen.
Seems if I turned off google assistant and back on it fixed it. Anyone else ever have this occur?
Thanks
