So I have a fascinate, or a phone similar to it (same model, different carrier).
I was trying to look through and find a way to change the static icons at the bottom of the screen. they are set up as Phone, Message, Email, Apps/Home. unless ive misread, i cant find a way to change these, is there?
also, how does one take a picture of the phones screen, using the phone?
thanks.

1. Change launchers, or go to applications screen, press menu, select edit and drag what you want down to the dock bar.
2. Use a screen capture app like shootme. Otherwise you need to use a camera.
Clarification: Shootme only supports ROOTED devices, according to its listing on Market.
Side Note: Neither adjusting dock bar icons/action buttons nor taking screen captures cause brick events to my knowledge.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.

Careful with that statement. The differences between carrier versions are substantial enough to brick you. (Telus?)

Actually, there was an article on XDA's home page about a member who created an app that does just that. You'll have to search though.
I use Smart Keyboard Pro. Works great for me.
On a related note, you know how when you switch to landscape the keyboard basically uses the whole screen (as in you only see the type to compose line and the keyboard itself)..well, is there a way to change or modify that so at least ill be able too see something over the type to compose screen?
Its really sucky when im on the msn app or sms app and i have to hide the keyboard ib order to see what was last sent to me

The screen becomes unresponsive if you touch the area left to the menu button or right to the search button. In landscape mode the area that is now under the menu button is often accidentally touched by myself and the entire screen is unresponsive. Maybe if they wouldn't had disabled multi finger touch it wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, there have been issues quite a bit but it always seems someone is using a different launcher. Maybe there needs to be some updates to these launchers to run atop of Blur. Another I noticed is that when I download a 3rd party launcher it automatically uses that launcher as default and when i go into settings I can't remove the Default for it so that might have something to do with it. Have you also done a reboot lately? After a reboot I notice that my phone decides to check the "Stay Awake" option under Applications>Development by itself. So maybe there something to that as well.

Weird, it was doing it before I rooted and after. And I must have tried a dozen different launcher apps and not once has it asked me to change the default. Of course, I only had one installed at a time. Do you just have LP installed or do you have others?

I have others installed but I don't really mess with em. I only have em while experimenting with what launcher I wanted. But I dabble with em on occasion. But if you hit the home key and haven't picked a default it should give u the option to pick your launcher and just under the launchers is a box that says" set as default"

Yes, I'm aware of that but if you only had one 3rd party launcher installed it won't ask to set it to default. If you want you can uninstall all of your launchers til you're back to Blur and then just download one of them and then hit Home and it will automatically go to the new launcher.
You really don't have to but it does happen that way which tells me that Blur (and all the settings it holds prominence over) is easily manipulated by a different launcher. Have you noticed you can still use all the MotoBlur widgets even while using LP? Can't do that on an HTC Sense phone.

Galaxy SIII is a fantastic phone, but I seem to be constantly let down by touchwiz stuff. My idea for this thread is a big, long list of annoyances and suggestions for fixing them.
For example, an annoyance: TW doesn't support sorting the app drawer by name, you have to manually sort things and that goes slow. You would have thought they'd have a better way to manage the app drawer by now, but alas, no.
Solution: AppZorter Lite is a free solution that will sort your app drawer for you. Bonus: I like a nice empty app list, so I've gotten it hidden (one thing TW does do) and just launch it from the store when I need to.
Two that I haven't solved:
1) Facebook has filled my contact list with a huge number of people I don't care about, seems to have ignored the "only sync with existing contacts". Removing facebook users is a process: hold on the user, press delete, confirm that it isn't actually deleting.
2) The default MMS app seems to send (or displays?) all picture messages as slideshows. Super lame. Is there any way to turn this out without installing a 3rd party app?
App drawer, menu, view type, alphabetical grid or list.

I hate the purple/baby blue rim around the phone.
Waiting for a black TPU bumper and black metal battery cover replacement from china to resolve these issues.
Outside of that- much more impressed with the form factor than that of the EVO LTE which i traded for it. The S3 is very comfortable in hand.

No sir. You can do this with most of the pre-installed carrier software. I believe the option is "disable". When you see it you'll know what I mean. In fact it was the one thing that made me think that I wouldn't have to root my phone. Then I quickly got annoyed by the T-Mobile startup and shut down sounds. Can someone please tell T-Mobile to leave the standard start up and shut down sequence alone. I mean expect that from Verizon; Have you heard any of their phones start up? They're crazy obnoxious.
Great feature! You can also go to settings-applications-all and do or that way. Just uninstall updates and then you will have the disable button. Thanks for the top all.
