Super User Issue - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey guys. Just installed the Desire Stock nand build on my hd2. I installed quick boot but it wont work. I know its suppose to have root access but it doesnt come up on the superuser app list. How can I add it on that list so it would work?

Edit: I also installed titanium backup and it says my phone is not rooted... Superuser is installed. Titanium bacup asked for Busybox. I downloaded the busybox installer. Tried to run the installer for busybox and it says that device is not nand unlocked or it was unable to remount.... Help.

Search for the z4root.apk file. There is a thread of it here.
For a how to guide, check YouTube. You can find download links there 2.

Titanium Backup Cant Find Root

I have an htc incredible with 2.2 froyo installed.
version 2.2
kernel 2.6.32.15
baseband 2.15.00.07.28
and s-off
When I startup titanium backup the app says that it can not find root.
it is allowed in superuser, and super user starts up fine as well as some other root only apps.
Help?
Probably saying something about installing busybox, too. Right?

Firstly sorry for asking dumb questions, I didn't see the problems button at first.
Secondly what does busy box do. Doesn't super user already give it all the permissions it needs?

Idk but just open busybox, first time it always fails for me. Just click install again then titanium will work.

busybox is like DOS/*nix/etc prompt, only that it processes commands in the background. Even you have a working copy of Busybox installed, it's a good idea to hit said button and download a specific version of Busybox for TB (don't worry, it doesn't overwrite any existing copy of busybox).

how did you rot, and if it said root successful, then go into the market and download superuser and then you should be able to give apps the correct permissions, hope this helped let me know if you run into problems.
There is a version of SU in the floder on your sdcard called Fission. It's in the Essential apps folder inside Fission. See if that loads if it isn't the one you tried.
I used 123 root and when trying to use the one in the fission folder it says installation unsuccessful

Please put [SOLVED] in front of your thread.

rooted my nexus S thank you

I am a new user with less than 10 posts so cant even reply to the [DEV] thread but I had useful info to impart [sic]
My install went fine using the non-wipe method of rooting with exceptions
My original copy of su to the sdcard got corrupted and it failed to install under clockwork - I didnt lose heart and tried again the error came up as -BAD- archive not signed
Once rooted I didn't have busybox - you can get it as an app from Market or Use Titanium backup to install it - I did both and ended up with two versions of busybox
Anyway thanks to the Devs for the great guide
Were happy to have you here

Problem Installing xRecovery

I ended up with a LOVELY refurbished POS as a replacement for my origional X10a through AT&T (trust me, I'm THRILLED about a refurbished piece of crap, haven't had good luck with these things) And I've got it flashed over to 2.1 update 1 with the baseband of 2.1.54, Kernel Version 2.6.29, and xRecovery will not install. IT loads just fine, gets SU access, and then the three little hourglasses come up with the No Smoking sign LOL! So, what's the issue?? Is xRecovery not compatable with the baseband?
Any ideas...?
What version of Busybox are you running? What method did you use to root your phone?
I know that some root methods (like SuperOneClick) install Busybox during the root process and the version they install is not compatible with xRecovery. You have to use the version from the Market for xRecovery to install.
By the way, this has been discussed many times already before in the xRecovery thread.
Its The Most current Busybox installed through Titanium Backup - and I'm sure it has been discussed...Lack of finding the specific issue lead to this post
Its Rooted with the super one click, But I believe that the busybox from Titanium is the most current...

Try installing busybox from the busybox app from the market.

It says in the first post of the thread it HAS to be the version from the Market. It says nothing about it needing to be the most recent version.
A similar issue was brought up on one of the last pages in that thread (it even had a picture of the 'no smoking' signs, as you put it, on the three files) and it came down to the version of Busybox the person had installed.
Though as subhankar suggested, you could try the manual installation route and see how that works for you too.
Anyway, I hope you get this resolved.
View the xrecovery apk in root explorer then copy the 3 files in Res/raw to the system/bin on your phone. The auto install from the app has never worked for me.

[Q] I dont have full root aces. Can you help me?

I have LG optimus one and Iam try new rom Omnirom beta 7 and beta 7.1. Iam saw ther isnt any superuser app and Iam try flash SuperSU (chainfire) and SuperUser (CloakWorkMod) with cwm recowery 6.4.0.6 and twrp 2.7.0.0.
Now I can run some apps like a total commander with superuser aces, Rom manager, but Iam style not can run titanium backup and lot of more. Sorry my English. Thanks for all reply.
Just FYI it is recommended to run twrp and su. Regarding you question: can you use the functionality that requires root in the apps you mentioned to be working? If not you simply have no su access at all. In case you can run them go into the su UI under settings and see if you can manually grant su permission to TiB and the like. It seems strange to me that super user should only work for some of your apps. I might be wrong though, I'm no expert.
