For some reason camera and video camera stopped working even after a complete system restore. I can open the camera but when i click record it just freezes and after that phone works very slow and needs to be rebooted. Its not rooted, everything is stock.
Any ideas?
Did you try wiping the cache/dalvik? Did you try wiping your user data (aka factory reset)?
No need to do all that.. I had the exact same issue. It is because there is a corrupt image on your sd card.
Take all of your photos off of your SD card and back them up onto your computer. Your camera will work after that. Once that's done, you can add them back one by one until you find the bad one or just leave them on your PC if you don't care.

Can someone help me, my phone keeps rebooting, I'm on Villain ROM12 with Apps2SD, my phone caught some bugs, and it wouldn't vibrate with messages yada, yada, so I thought I'll just wipe phone + data, Dalvik Cache on AmonRA recovery mode, but after I did, when I rebooted my phone, the reboot screen keeps repeating itself, but when I take the memory card out and reboot, it starts up straight away, what should I do?
Please help.
Thanks

Please back up everything on sd to computer, and then use amonra recovery to reformat it completely.
Then do a full wipe and flash, and copy the essential files from your sd backup back on. Now reboot, check it's still ok, and then add your apps etc via something like titanium backup (the data for which was on sd, but was copied across with essential stuff)
Then reboot, and finally copy rest of your data across. If this works, you're sorted. If at any step it won't boot, just restart the process and don't restore that data.
Sd cards sometimes need a clear out.

Thanks for your help, that's exactly what I did, it was the theme and all the apps I installed, chewed up my phone. All good and clean now, running on SenseHero 2.1 B5.1
Thanks

Hi, I recently was on paranoid android and was getting ready to sell my galaxy s4 I9505 so restored a back up I made of the stock rom which was what came on the phone when I bought it.
I restored the back up, but once the phone had booted it was really slow and I kept getting loads of error messages saying different processes had kept failing. The same as in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...restoring-stock-rom-cwm-t2882455#post55566370
I then booted back into recovery and wiped data and dalvik cache, which after rebooting sorted the problem. The device was running smoothly and so I went on downloading my apps from the play store.
But I've since noticed apps like swift key, instagram, whatsapp and snap chat seem to be having issues. I don't have any SD card installed just the phones internal memory, which I have ample space (9GB) but whatsapp won't let me download images.
Snapchat says I need to install an sd before viewing video and Instgram mentions I need an SD before being able to take a picture.
Also the language pack for Swiftkey won't download and when I try and download a theme it says it can't save it.
So it seems there's something wrong with the way it's trying to store certain files. Has anyone else come across this yet?
I'm planning on following the whole unroot process anyway documented here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477 which I'm hoping will fix it.
But I wondered if anyone knew what it is that's caused it?

Did you install the stock rom before or have you just restored your old backup?
If I were you, I would clean everything, install the stock sammy firmware (with latest base) and after that restore your backup

No it's not a rom, I just restored my old back up of my OS before I started flashing any custom roms.
I did a factory reset on the phone hoping it might resolve it. Which hasn't, but I'm not sure now if it's got rid of CWM. Would as I can't seem to get it to boot into recovery (it maybe just me not releasing the volume up button at the right time).
Think I'm going to have to flash a clean stock firmware following the unroot process and hope that fixes it.
I have been on 5.0 for about a week now. It was great until today. Numerous app crashes. Can't write to sd. Phone says I don't have enough storage to save an image when I'm face I do. Has anyone else had this issue? If so please help. I can't even reliably use my phone.
can you try to factory reset? i have problem too and i wipe all then do flash with fresh rom, and the problem gone
I bought my Galaxy S7 Edge about a month ago and I've been loving it, however today I went to use a camera app from the play store (that I've been using fine for almost as long as I've had the phone) and it failed to open.
No error message.
I thought that was weird so I opened Snapchat.
Camera wouldn't load.
I then opened the default camera app and I got a simple "Camera failed" error.
I did some reading and couldn't find much, but read some suggestions to clear system settings or remove the SD card and reboot. Another suggestion was to wipe the system and dalvik caches from recovery. I would do this if I were capable, but I currently have TWRP recovery, which normally wouldn't be a problem, but TWRP currently can't get permission to write anything unless I wipe my phone, which I'm far from ready to do.
I've deleted the camera app from the play store. No dice.
I've cleared all system settings. No dice.
I've removed my SD card and rebooted. No dice.
So I essentially have two questions here:
Most pressing, how could I go about getting my camera to work?
If only through recovery, how do I return to stock recovery so that I'm actually capable of doing anything in it?
EDIT- I just discovered that I'm unable to turn on the flash, as it's being "used by Camera". I feel like that could be important.
Not saying your problem is the same as mine, but My camera just quit working, hardware issue but my selfi cam worked.... I tried all the online tutorials even went as far as restoring to stock, nothing brought it back.
Anyways it happened about three weeks after I purchased it . I bought it from Costco so it was able to exchange it

I have no way to know if it's back cam only, as the camera app is nonfunctional (cant switch cameras) despite being able to open (Can't switch in Snapchat either). I have yet to try flashing to 100% stock or factory resetting, and am hesitant because I have a lot of data on the phone to backup. I also got it from a Canadian carrier and considering the custom recovery currently on, I'm also hesitant to send it in right away.
Exact same problem here about to backup and reset will reply with results. Have you tried running the camera app from safe-mode?

I just tried safe mode and the camera still didn't work...
How did the backup and reset go?

It did not work... I did a backup, wiped cache, and wiped data/factory reset the device. I am thinking it maybe time to call in an RMA.

I'm sorry to hear that
In a couple hours I'll back up my data and do the same. Will let you know if it resolves my issue or not.

Update here. The factory reset didn't fix mine either at least I got TWRP working now. Not that that matters if I end up having to send it in.
Hey guys,
So I just got my OP5 today... the first thing I did after taking it out of the box was unlock the bootloader (obviously). I then installed TWRP so I could backup my stock image. Since then I've been fighting with my phone all day because my apps say I don't have an SD card. 1) I can't download apps, 2) I can't take pictures 3) I can't create a folder on my internal storage with the file manager.
I have tried wiping system and wiping data. ( I'm currently on FreedomOS rom since I wanted to try wiping everything ) The weird thing is I was able to download ES file browser, Root Checker, and Titanium backup before the SD card stopped working. Is there any way I can try to fix this??? Kinda worried I received a defective unit.
you need to wipe data then reboot you will find the problem is fixed

Unfortunately I tried this a few times to no avail. Fortunately for anyone else with this problem I think it's fixed. After wiping I ran Fix Permissions in TWRP... that seems to have done the trick. I'm up and running now, no bugs. Thanks for the input!

sounds to me you somehow erased your data partition and didnt wiped/format it.
you are not the first one with that problem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72807646&postcount=8
maybe a twrp or bootloader unlock problem ?
