HD2 sms - HD2 General

I'm looking for the .cab file for the HD2 (tmo) app that came installed with the stock ROM. It's the app whose icon looks like a green dialogue balloon with a smiley face. I have looked all over and can't find it. I hate using the HTC messaging client.

Working on porting Palm Threaded sms to the Diamond

Ive got it pretty much done im just having issues getting the palm app to interface with the TF3D messaging tab.
sometimes it will grab the message but it does not appear correctly. but 97.9% of the time the TF3D tab will not show "no messages" when there is new messages.
the app its self works quite well though. and i prefer it over the WM 6.1 sms app
any input would be appreciated
does any one know how to get Manila to interface with the messageing.exe rather then tamail.exe - text
I know this thread is really old but it got me curious. Can you post what you've done so far? Have you made any further progress? I love Palm's threaded SMS and I'd love it on my Diamond. Were you able to get it to resize when the SIP pops up?
Any screenshots that you can upload?

Disabled HTC Messages has a problem

first ,My English is too bad ..
I Use Diamond 2 with UDK WM6.5 R3 ROM
I dont like "HTC Messages" so i Install the "Disable HTC Messages.cab"
On the Desktop and StartMenu ,Messages is not HTC Messages ! (Very Good)
but. when i recive a new text messages . Top bar have a icon for new messages
I click that icon ,and Display"1 new message",then click that ,Display the HTC messages again
What should I do ,Disabled HTC Messages on the Top bar ?
Thank you !
(My English is too bad. ..)
here is the resolution
copy my post at Blackstone ROM forum:
Here's something I want to share.
Unfortunately NRG didn't make any ROM without HTC Messaging Client and his ROM performance particularly Manila 2.5 performance is blatantly dragged down by this HTC Messaging Client!
Zenkinz's disabling HTC Messaging cab may be the solution available but it still requires an extra exe file to run and stay resident in memory for capturing incoming SMS event and to take further actions.
Anyway, I went deep into the Registry and made this reg file to remove all possible traces of HTC Messaging Client, to result completely preventing the phone to load HTC Messaging Client from the beginning of the phone boot up. This includes removal of any traces of HTC Messaging Client in Notification Manager. Hence, with this registry modification, I don't need to install zenkinz disable HTC Messaging cab (which has extra exe file specifically to run to capture incoming SMS and further actions).
Now my phone is running faster than ever! All SMS apps work, MMS also works (with Arcsoft MMS) no more hurdle with Jataayu MMS!! Incoming SMS counts and notifications and lock screens are all working!!!
Notes:
1. Please use Task Manager to import this Reg. Resco File Explorer seems detect it as error.
2. If you're interested with what I did, just feel free to explore further inside the .reg file.
3. Warning: I didn't prepare a backup Registry file in case you want to fall back to the original HTC Messaging enabled setup (I don't need them!). So try at your own risk!! If you're a HTC Messaging hater, you don't mind right?
4. few known side effects due to removal of HTC Messaging Client
a) Sending SMS from HTC Contact and the Contact's Messages tab are not functioning anymore (it needs HTC Messaging Client integrated with HTC Contact Manager)
b) tapping on Manila Messages' message won't take you to anywhere (supposedly to threaded SMS page) but bounce back.
Thank you so mush !
it's prefect!
So cool!
It's a good tool.
import
thanks, but how to import it with task manager?
this fix works, however doesn't remove Messaging in 100% from the system.
For example functions of People tab still uses this application. It's not too bad if you want to select/edit contact. But when you want to write SMS using this menu... you are done.
In my case, I wrote message in HTC Messaging fired from people tab but while sending I got strange requester to chose method
[C] No Operator
[G] No Operator
I have not to say that after chosing one the message has not been sent.
as I said only use fdcsoft task manager3.1 to import. I confirm that using Resco explorer import it will miss out some reg removals. try again
I still don't know how to open it i've got the file and the fdcsoft task manager but how do i fix this?
seems to be an easier idea to modified the 486d3b1a_manila file to point to wm sms threaded view when a message on HTC sms is clicked.
for wm 6.1 there was a modded 47dd6acd_manila file floating around that did the same thing, in wm 6.5 htc change the name to 486d3b1a_manila but they also changed a lot in manila.. i haven't figured out how to do it.
if anyone want to try, look in that file (486d3b1a_manila) in windows directory.. maybe figure out a way to just redirect to wm sms when you click on htc sms.
I have used the remover and everything works good except the notification LED light of my D2. please help me to solve this problem? Thanks a lot!!

SMS - What do you use? HTC's? Handcent's? or...?

I love how HTC SMS seperates the messages by day, but I dislike the picture in front of the message. Plus, the text color "me" & "the receiver" is all black & I cant distinguish right away.
I'm using Handcent. so far so good. Couple of Force Close but I can live with that for now. Can't really send group SMS. But overall, it's better than HTC's SMS function.
What do you think?
i use handcent w. HTC_IME mod

[REQ]using default sms app

I've searched and searched but just can't find it, most threads don't have intuitive titles to help with the search so hopefully if we get a solution this will help others.
My request is pretty simple (I hope anyway), the HTC Sense SMS app sucks. It's slow, slow and slow; plus the text is tooooooo small for comfortable viewing/ reading outdoors. Is there anyway to switch to the default windows SMS app without flashing a custom ROM.
I haven't sold my [email protected] yet and this might jst be the deal breaker for me. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Go to your messages menu (from the all messages view) and tap menu/options/traditional mode.
You can get the WM client by searching for and downloading the "Zenyee Messaging cab". But I can't guarantee everything working perfectly (I think I had trouble with MMS using the Zenyee cab).
For me, if I have a ROM cooked with standard windows messaging and I apply that cab to use the HTC messaging, it breaks MMS. If I have a ROM with HTC messaging as default, applying the cab to use the standard windows messaging breaks MMS. I cannot win.
Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Just for your reference "traditional mode"; means its threaded. It doesn't change the app.

Copy & Paste in Messages App

I just switch over to android from the iPhone.
It seems that android is a missing one of the key features that is very curial, which is the ability select text from Text Messages and be able to copy/paste it elsewhere.
I often have times where I would like to copy a txt message I receive and be able to paste it somewhere else (in a browser or into another txt message).
Is there a solution for this?
long press...

Doesn't work. When I long press, the only options I have is to call the contact, forward the message, etc. No option to select the text and copy it.
I know I've been able to do it in the past so I opened a text message to prove it to myself and lo and behold I can't long-press to select/copy/paste either! Must be the rom I'm using (MDJ FroYo Revolution 1.4), can't think of any other reason though surely something as fundamental as this should be cooked into any rom regardless of flavour?! Weird.
Long press works on miui.. Just hold your finger on the text message copy message text.. Hold finger on input box and paste... Works here and on every rom I've tried..

Ya, I think its an issue with the ROM. I just switch from FroyoStone to MDJ Froyo Sense Clean 2.3, and it still doesn't have the Copy/Paste feature in the Messaging app.
My friend has a Droid, running Froyo 2.2, and he has the copy/paste feature in his Messaging app.
My current setup does have the ability to Copy/Paste in the messaging app. The way I do it is long press the selected text and press "Forward". Then you can long press on the input box and select the "Copy All" (it's the only option). Also works pasting in the browser url bar.

Quick solution is to long press the message and select forward, then you can edit it and send.

better to use handcent sms program.
