Voicemail icon wont go away - G2 and Desire Z General

I am having the little tape icon for voice mail and it won't go away.

make sure you listen to the whole voicemail before ending the call. or just delete the damn thing.

I had this on my Touch Pro2, it turns out it was a damaged SIM card!

Damn damaged similar card?

Did you try pulling down the notification bar and pressing the clear button
G2 cm6.1.1

Call your number. Save a voicemail, then listen and delete it. I had this problem and doing this worked for me.

There is no clear button when I pull it down. I logged out of gv and switched my vm settings to my carrier. The tape icon is for regular vm. When I leave a message it doesn't register. They keep getting stored in gv. If I sign into gv they are all there.
God this is frustrating..
I did put in my old sim card to copy over my phone numbers, could that have anything to do with it?

I had this issue before. I called my carrier and they reset my voicemail inbox which solved it for me.

This, please people - use common sense, its a network issue, not hardware. Call TMO and tell them your MWI is stuck

[CLOSED/G2] Mass text issue

Am I the only one having issues tryin' to send a mass txt? I've tried sending a mass txt to at least 8+ folks and the status stays at "Sending..."
I've tried everything from pullin' out the battery and SIM card to fully resetting the phone but still no luck... I know its not a "network" issue because I can send the mass txt from my BB Bold 9700 without any issues.
Anyone else having this issue???

I use Handcent SMS but didn't have any problems sending mass text to around 16 people.
Hmmm ok let me give that app a shot because this **** is annoying the hell out of me!

Handcents a way better messaging application anyways with tons of customization and a million options

I had this problem before on my g1 it is a network problem not a phone problem. But try the other app and see if that works for u
Tmobile themselves have told me to send ur self two mms whenever getting a new phone not sure if that will help
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yeah I've already sent myself txt msg's... is this a limit for the stock msg app? I just don't see why I can't send a mass txt to 8 folks...

Visual Voicemail?

Is there any possible way to save these REALLY IMPORTANT voicemail messages to the SD Card? I need them, BADLY.

Well, depending on the voicemail app, they should be saved elsewhere anyway. I know T-Mobile saves them to their servers, as does Google for those using Google voice. Just reinstall the apps and they should be available immediately. Or, if not, titanium backup might be able to do that.

Damn, I'm with T-Mobile. I tried using this headphone to headphone cord to record them with Audacity but that was just a fail. There's no other way, though any means necessary, to get them saved?

Well you might want to check with them as to whether voicemails are saved elsewhere. I'm pretty sure they are, but I'm not a rep for them, so I can't say for certain. They should automatically redownload to the visual voicemail App once you reinstall it.

Why not just use you mail??? I'm the market. It saves them all online.

TMO voicemail is definitely saved on the server side. Its the same database you'd get to if you called your voicemail directly by holding down 1 on the dialer.
Just reinstall the TMO vm app and they'd show up.

Actually visual voicemail is already in the phone app with Sense, but I ask because it had a tendency to disable and then erase my voicemail box. I can't have that happen a 4th time.

cannot get rid of voicemail icon

I got a replacement phone today and my voicemail icon pops up. I have no vm's and it wont go away...Any ideas how to get rid of it? I loaded my coredroid rom that was already on my sd card. Could that be it? Should I load a new zip?

Voicemail icon stuck?

My voicemail icon keeps coming back randomly even though I have nothing in my voicemail box. Does anyone know what causes this? It's getting reeeeeally annoying!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Is it just saying you have a voicemail or is there another message displayed when you drop down your notifications?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
It's saying 'New Voicemail' but there isn't one. Not rooted, no ROM, totally stock.
Not sure about that issue. I know I would get the icon and it stated inbox full if I had less than 100MB (maybe 200MB) of available space on the phone. I had to go through everything and figure out what I really needed on the phone and get rid of the extra junk (thanks Amazon).
You might want to try dialing into your voicemail and see if there is actually a message that visual voicemail isn't downloading. I had that happen on my G1.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Nope, that didnt do anything. This is so annoying. I dont want to have to hard reset over this.
Anyone else have any ideas? Something occurred to me just now. I remember I created a voicemail message by accident by calling my phone with Google Talk on my laptop. I then deleted the voicemail in Google Voice on the laptop. But I'm wondering if MAYBE the message was deleted but the notification was still sent out from Google to my phone and got stuck there when I deleted the message online.?? That make sense?

This happened to me once a long time ago (back when I had a measly Nokia dumbphone). It had something to do with my service provider's network. From what I can remember, which may or may not be accurate, is that the voicemail icon is turned on/off by an unseen sms. For some reason, my phone wasn't getting the "off" sms or something. I ended up calling my service provider and then they sent something across the network that sort of reset that. No idea what they did, but it worked.
Go to <settings <call and click "Clear voicemail notification"

I had the same problem, and this worked. Thanks!
I had the same problem recently. I grabbed my wife's phone and left myself a message, it fixed it.
Done. Fixed. My wife called the phone, left a new message, we deleted it and the notice hasnt come back.

[Q] Disabling a specific notification? [Answered]

When I signed up for simple mobile I chose not to get their voicemail because I use Google voice.
However I have a permanent notification for new voicemail that I can't get rid off.
Is there a way to manually disable this notification? Forever...

You might have to go ahead and actually check the voicemail. This might require you to temporarily disable the google voice voicemail. It looks like even the instructions to check from another phone require you to be kicked to your T-Mobile voicemail: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1172
BTW, unless "simple mobile" is a carrier, I'm assuming you're using T-Mobile (since this is a T-Mobile device)...

Hi and thanks for responding. I can't actually check for the voicemail since I opted not get it during sign up. I don't have a pin.
Simple Mobile let's you use your own phone. I used to have t mobile but not any more.
I even called customer service but they couldn't figure it out either.
I also have disabled Google voice and tried what you suggested as well.
No dice.

I'm also in the same boat as you. I have a Galaxy Note, but my issue is the same (Simple Mobile w/o voicemail + Google Voice)
Anyway, what I've done so far is another jury rig:
First, I set the Voicemail ringtone to silent and never vibrate
Then, I set a Tasker profile to run at startup; it waits 10 seconds, then kills the Phone app (with Taskkill).
Sadly, the VM notification keeps popping up every once in a while, so I have another Tasker profile to kill the Phone app every hour--unless I'm in a call.
But I'll keep searching the forums and Google until I find a cleaner solution...
