I have recently had some problems with some web pages force closing when browsing.
As an example I have been browsing on BBC sports I have clicked on the football latest scores and after a couple of seconds the application FCs. I then unchecked javascript on the settings and the page loads fine!
I have now been left with 3 options:
1) Look for a fix(if someone can help please)
2) Always browse with no javascript and therfore no flash enable websites.
3) accept that some websites will behave this way and continue.
Any suggestions please?

hello
i was wondering if there was a nice way to view webpages on my xda. e.g. if i go to gmail, the first page is dusplayed ok, but when i open my mail, the page is kind of all over the place.
with some other sites, viewing the page becomes a task and a half.
You need to ask the question differently - are the websites you are visiting sufficiently well programmed to handle requests from small screen devices, without Javascript or Flash capabilities.
So I've had a real problem as of late with the web browsers crashing it happens both in the "Web" and "Dolphin browser" apps. Anyone else having problems?
I load the web page I want and then a few seconds later it just kicks me back to the home screen. its annoying I want to browse the web damn it! Stock firmware.
You were trying to load a site with flash content?
I had the same problem when I checked "Enable plug-ins" in Settings.
I checked it for testing purposes for www.whatismyflash.com
Before it showed I had no Flash installed and after plugins enabled it showed I had Flash Player 9.1.122 installed but crashed everytime I visited certain sites with flash content (not all sites were affected!).
I've recently received my DHD and noticed that the internet browsing experience is slightly different than what I used to with Opera on Windows Mobile (HD2).
One of the specific annoyances I had was trying to force the full site to load rather than mobile versions of sites (eg. Engadget vs. Engadget Mobile).
Even choosing to view the "Full Version" of certain websites I am still redirected to view mobile versions - not presented with the versions that would appear on a Desktop browser.
I have done some searching in XDA (and the web) and the only thing I was able to find were references to WindowsMobile to change the Custom User-Agent under User Prefs (In Opera Browser type, "Opera:Config" -> User Prefs -> Custom User-Agent). I have changed this but it does not appear to work.
I came across http://www.zytrax.com/tech/web/browser_ids.htm but am not sure which Browser string I should try to use.
(Have tried IE settings as well as identifying my current desktop browser setting - Chrome - and inserting that) Additionally, I have also attempted to change the User Agent ("Opera:Config" -> User Agent) by incrementing the number and that does not appear to work either.
Attempting to connect to "About:debug" (in hopes of seeing some other settings somewhere) tells me that it failed to connect to the debugger at the default address/port.
I'm a little stuck as to where to go from here.
Has anyone else experienced this or managed to amend successfully?
Well, after further searching I still haven't been able to have the Opera Browser default to show me a Desktop view of web pages that seem to aggressively divert you to mobile versions of their sites.
However, I did download Dolphin Browser HD from the market and the settings page listed this as an option that works very well.
Based on my short experience with it, I actually think DolphinHD is actually a much better choice of browser for Android.
On the built-in internet "browser" application, when I go to an online auction website in New Zealand called "trademe" (www.trademe.co.nz), the page partially loads and then freezes.
Can anyone tell what the issue and/or if there's a fix for it? thanks
also once I load the trademe page the whole browser application freezes as well I have to close it through task manager for it to funtion properly again. I also tried every other web pages and they seem to load fine. Its the trademe website that freezes.
You should try setting plugins to 'Always On' and see if it works. If you can load any other webpages without any issue, its not a browser issue. I have used the build you are running myself, and the browser has not crashed on me once. If you still cant load that webpage, you should try loading it in Skyfire or Firefox. If that doesnt work, maybe that webpage just cannot be loaded on a mobile device.
I can not install apps in this rom... Don't know why.
Even I have clicked the unknown source in application
Anyone can help me. thanks a lot.
I set up my fourth. yes fourth, V20 last week (the perils of buying used phones on ebay!) and all seems good. But I noticed a couple of days ago that whenever I try to download the page I'm viewing on chrome, it begins to download but then I get the message,
Download unsuccessful
Download is canceled The content is not valid to download
The pages get the tick in the notification bar and show up in the downloaded section, but when I click on them, there's nothing!
I've tried switching to data and have never had any issues with other phones doing this. I'm still on the stock ROM and not rooted. I'm in the UK and viewing UK sites, this is really odd. Does anyone have any suggestions as I caouldn't find anything when I searched online
This obviously isn't the place to ask for help with a Google app. Contact Google through email about their Chome app.
Would anyone have any (useful) suggestions regarding this? It's highly unlikely to be a chrome issue as I've never had problems on any other phones in similar situations (obviously I tried to contact them and went on their forums but I couldn't find anyone who'd experienced the same issue). I can't get the full UK keyboard due to some random geo lock on the H910, that's why I was wondering if anyone had any V20 specific suggestions?
I'd have happily moved to a Chromium based third party browser but I need the sync capability so that the bookmarks are also available on my desktop, so it's Chrome or Firefox as things stand (not really a fan of Opera).
As an aside - I've not found a solution to this and it's NOT limited to Chrome, it is the same when I run Brave, a Chromium browser. So the issue isn't purely Chrome.
It's a sizable pain in the posterior when travelling - it's great to be able to download a selection of web pages before setting off into areas with very patchy signal. I used to use Pocket, but I'd much rather know why I can't use the native function.
