What's up. I'm trying to find an app that will read web pages and rss feeds (google reader) to me. I know there are plenty of this sort for text messages, but can't find any for other needs.

I've been using blackberry for a while and the facebook application on it is perfect. Now after switching to Leo, I've noticed that the FB app on that one is weak.. I just would like to know if there is a better app out there. The most important function I'm after is the push notification; I would like to get a notification on my phone(either on Home or maybe a specific tab), each time I get a notification on FB. I came across Babbler for Android, I believe what I'm looking for is something like that...
Thanks in advance for the help

The site (especially http://touch.facebook.com ) is not bad but the option I'm missing from blackberry is the push notification. The only I managed to get notifications now is via email
you can get texts from facebook whenever you get messages or posts or whatever. unless your trying to not use texts of course it wont help

I'm familiar with this option; however, I'm looking for a more "integrated" application (with the OS I mean) such as the one for Blackberry.. I really hope people at Facebook or Microsoft will develop something similar..
That's the ONLY reason I'm hanging onto my blackberry. WinMo's FB app SUCKS. I was just trying this morning different apps which claim they can sync up. So far I haven't found anything that remotely compares to BB's interface. *sigh*
Try this: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-fim-facebook-instant-messenger.html
It has a mode that integrates with the web, and seems to cache your credentials so that you don't have to manually log on. It does have some ads but it's free.
Oh, and of course it lets you do FB IM messages.

Facebook Apps!
If you do some forum thread searching you will find a couple of interesting items regarding this issue...
1) There is a thread from the writers of the Microsoft Facebook APP, who ARE aware of the limitations of the standard app, and are working on an improved version for WM!
2) There is also a team of equally pi$$ed off WM users who want a decent FB app, that have start writing their own! At present they are assembling a coding team, but SAMPLE images are available and they are making mighty efforts to accomplish what we all want!

The fix for me was from "Weudel" at androidforums:
"From your home screen hit menu> settings> accounts & sync hit add account and add your Facebook account there. That should do it."
Maybe this can help you.
the only thing I noticed was that it completely deletes your settings when you first do the update. Once I set it back up I haven't had any issues.
Thanks...got facebook working again but still nothing from the built-in RSS feeds...espn, fox, npr, cnn, health...selected and unselected between restarts and still nothing...have a quite time setup as 11 pm to 6 am where I don't get any feed updates
Sent from my Samsung Continuum using XDA App
Checked under RSS after clicking the button on the ticker...shows no RSS feeds and nothing to refresh...click settings but shows selected built in feeds are selected...anyone else having issues with the ticker and RSS after the verizon update?
Sent from my Samsung Continuum using XDA App
same issue after the update. just test messages going to ticker. no rss or sms going to ticker
Having the same issue here. Its hit or miss for twitter and Facebook. Get nothing, then get a burst of tweets and Facebook comments. As for RSS, nothing.

did a system reset. rss feeds back, but lost data and installed apps. oh well.
Can't get custom feeds to work. Only pre-installed feeds come through...

No Custom or Standard Feeds
Have removed feeds and added them back, but haven't reset the phone as I don't want to spend the countless hours setting everything back up. Anyone having any luck getting the feeds restored?
I only get gmail and facebook...don't use twitter and can't get any rss feeds to work at all.

I can't even get the pre-loaded feeds to work.
I called verizon yesterday and talked to a friendly voice and she didn't even have a continuum to walk me through troubleshooting the problem.
By all accounts, it should be working.
Her final solution was to reset the phone to factory settings. Not what I'm really ready to do just yet.

You get Gmail in the ticker? How?

Setup your gmail account in the email program...not just the gmail app...out should be on page one or two in applications...green and while logo...

Email and Facebook comes in on Ticker but can't subscribe to RSS feeds or cancel RSS feeds and if I've subscribed to a feed PRE or USER added, I don't get anything.
Canceling or subscribing to feeds give error, "Server problem, try again".
Also, I don't get any Twitter notices.
Going to remove account (twitter) and reestablish account to see if I can get Twitter working again.
Totally stuck on the RSS feeds issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Note: Have reset phone and it worked for couple days, then nothing.
Is there any way to clear user added RSS feeds? I messed up typing in an Address, and now every time it tries to sync I get RSS error on that particular feed.

I find myself looking at various things on my phone from webpages and feed apps like deck buzz and I find myself instead of reading an article, I share to facebook so I can read later.
I don't really want to post everything I want to read to facebook so I had an idea for an app that others might find useful. I would pay for this app if it were available.
Here is the app
The app should have an entry in Android's share menu and what it will do is collect anything that I share with it and hold onto the links. After a selectable period of time, say at the end of the day or the end of the week, it will send me an email with all the collected links so I can go through them when I want to and view the links.
Thanks

Hey, it helps to read the contents of the thread and not just the topic title. But thanks for your reply anyway.
Phone 2 Chrome + Drop Box + a Chrome extension will get you pretty close. Doesn't share via email it shares the link via your Drop Box account.
this could be something:

I am going on a 7 day bicycle ride next week, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and I want to send some emails while I'm on the road. One of my teammates made awesome banner images for each day, so I want to put those at the top of each email message.
I can create drafts in Gmail on the web, add the images, put some text and leave them ready to send. What I want to do as the days go by is edit each draft, add any updates or special mentions based on the events and send.
Unfortunately, when I access the draft in the Android Gmail app, the format is completely lost. The app turns the inline image into an attachment and it doesn't even get sent when testing.
Does anyone know of an Android email client (IMAP preferably) that does inline images? Even if it's with a URL or that allows HTML tags?

Hmm well you could try using the full computer page of gmail. Via the stock browser app.
Install flash player if you already dont have it - http://db.tt/LiJFLmj1
(Backup flashplayer.apk from my dropbox)
Then just open native browser app and check request full site under the pull down settings.

Hmm that's good to know! I found that Maildroid allows inserting the images inline. I can write up my drafts on Google Docs and then copy and paste into Maildroid and insert the images. This should make it fairly easy to do with just my phone.
Thanks for the help!
Looking for an app suggestion folks, the one thing I really loved about my old htc with sense was the way it organised all my emails, text messages, Facebook updates etc and attached them to the relevant contact card. You could go into a person's contact card and see their latest status, public photo gallery, call logs and messages etc no flicking from app to app to find out did that person text me or email me or messenger me.
Any suggestions of apps to add this sort of functionality to my S4?
I'm not rooted and still under contract so wouldn't want to so no custom room's please.
Thanks
Jon
Any suggestion folks?
I've tried Contacts + which is quite nice but doesn't do Chaton or email and I've tried the various Go Contacts app's which are mostly awefull.
Really looking for something to tie in emails.
