When I flash a sense based rom after it boots when i unlock the screen I see the splash screen.
Is there any way to fix this?

Wait a bit. The first boot takes some time.
I know that the but is already booted when this happens and the same thing happens if I reboot the phone.

Be more patient. I get the same thing as you do (Get the Lock Screen, and, when I unlock it, get the HTC Splash Screen), but, I leave it for about 10 minutes (Normally, 5), and, then, it works as expected.
So it is there until the rom is fully loaded ty for the help.

Yes, it always happens the first time whenever you flash a ROM, and, I know it is a scary experience when it happens.

So after rooting I thought I would try an app that I used on the EVO and has been used on the Captivate called LCD DENSITY CHANGER 3.0. It worked great on those two devices
MUST have ROOT to use! And when you use it with EPIC 4G it will restart your screen to a lovely black screen. Buttons light up and Notification Lights up as well but the screen will stay black. Until Full ROOT with Custom Recovery stay away until fixed
You couldn't factory reset it with recovery?
There's a fix for that in the thread...

Did you guys just try getting rid of the app using adb? Sounds like something worth trying before returning the device!

I have tried that as well before I ended up returning the Phone for an exchange. I have used the APP on a lot of different phones too first time this has happened too. But now I know, shame though since that app rocks
Man, I feel sorry that my app give you all this trouble! Really. It's a hell of a job to make this app safe for every device, rom and root configuration...
Please can you give more insight in what went wrong? Did the boot manager not caused a restart with the old density setting when you got the black screen??
Did you rebooted it yourself directly after getting the black screen or did you wait for a while? (The device will reboot itself after 30 sec. when the user can't give any input )
And what is that about the partial root?
I hope you can give some feedback, because really.... I want this thing to be safe. Thanks.
After setting it to 200 it restarted automatically. When it tried to reboot it loads a black screen with sound bottom buttons light up but the device doesn't respond. I did let it sit the first time because I have tried this on the evo so I knew it would try to auto load the default 240. But nothing. Had to pull battery. After 20 - 30 min later I entered recovery and wiped data and cache but same thing happened when it booted back up.
I really do hope this gets fixed soon. It was one of those apps that I paid for that was worth it!

Thanks for your observations. I have contacted LeshaK and he gave me some great advices. I will look into this, because I really don't want to get users into trouble by trying the app out. On the other side, maybe Epic users have to wait for a full root.
I guess you don't want to be a beta tester Anyone else? Please PM me or leave a message in this thread.
Use odin to do a full reset.

wicked! wish this was out yest morning but considering the phone just came out great progress
The easiest way to fix this was to simply pull the build.prop file from /system
Open the file in notepad and find the pixel density value.
Set it to 240 or 234 if you want to be accurate. It looks best at 240 though.
this app just messed up my phone....i installed in GT-I5801 and still there is no solution i can't even exchange like he did....the same problem black screen wit no effects...what is the easiest way 2 get rid of this bootin' thing.. and it not even changing to normal...and no carrier signals...help me out!!
boot into recovery and install an old nandroid backup

How hard is it to change the number in the build.prop file?
Lol don't odin just reflash your rom or yes pull buildb and manuall fix it
It works perfect on my Epic with the Froyo rom. It never worked with any 2.1 rom!

Again just use it on the Froyo rom. It doesn't work on any 2.1

I tried this. It works but media keeps force closing and I have to reboot and lose the settings. Lame

So I rooted today.
I installed Rom Manager and was going to flash the segmented battery mod onto my stock rom.
I run Rom Manager...boot into recovery...it gives me the usual options...i choose to install from zip on sd...and then it goes to black screen and just sits.
I pull the battery and try it again...now this time trying to clear cache...same thing...black screen and just sits.
Does anyone know what's happening with it? And what should I do?

Don't. Alot of us coming from the n1 was doing that.
Is it possible to change the htc screen when android us booting up from nand.is boring to me I know its in the rom most likely so where in the rom would I have to change it?
Sent from a guy living in a van down by the river
The animated one is bootanimation.zip for nand roms, found in /data/local or /system/media, idk for sure about sd builds boot animations, they may be in the same place.
The screen that shows when you first boot up your device is called the splash screen. These have to be flashed via ruu.updateutility.exe like a rom or radio. Search hd2 wm6.5 themes and apps forum for 'splash'

Not those ones I already got both of those changed I'm talking about the htc screen before the boot animation right after you bootfrom nand.
Sent from a guy living in a van down by the river
Oh, I know what one you're talking about now. The one that comes with the rom I use matches the boot animation, so I tend to forget that it's a separate thing from the animation. Unfortunately, I don't know where that one is or how to change it. I seem to halfways remember some mention of it being in the initrd.gz , but I could very possibly be wrong.

Hi,
My phone is self waking up when I logo the screen all the time. I think it got some water in it, ( something small, because the rest is all working good ) .
So, I would like to know if thete is some sort of sensor or something inside the phone that makes it wake up on lock screen ....
Thanks

Wrong section.
is your phone rooted? if it is then you need to fix persmissions on the recovery menu.

Waste of a post, if that's all you were gonna say why post anything at all.
Anyways, to answer the OP, are you running a custom ROM by any chance? Also only thing I can think of is the sensor waking up the phone... But that can't be it. If you're on stock ROM then go ahead and do a factory reset and see if problem still persists.
Hi,
Sorry. I was on custom Rom ( fusion 118) . I did load my stock back up Rom and same thing happens.
I know the only way u can wake up the phone when it has the screen locked is with the power button and the action button. I thought that the buttons could he stuck cause of some water, but no, they don't do any action whrj I'm running any application. So, I believe that the phone has to has some of sensor that activates the screen whn u hit power or action key....
Any idea ?

OK so I am new to the mt4g... I currently use a sgs4g, the rest of my family uses the mt4g and they live in Indiana while I live in Texas. I followed the guides to get the phone rooted with s-off. I installed the cwm from rom manager becuz I could not find an up to date thread. Anyways when I reboot in to cwm it seems to work fine except when I try to go into a submenu it just gives me a blank screen with no text. I was going to do a nandroid back up but this is not possible without getting into the submenus of cwm. I then tried rom manager to flash virtuous unity and it worked perfectly. I am unsure of what is going on exactly but I am afraid that if the phone happens to soft brick I will not be able to get back into recovery or even if I do I cannot flash anything or be able to unbrick the phone. I am not nooby I have been working with android for a while now and have soft bricked my sgs4g many times while learning. Almost hard bricked due to wrong bootloaders. Anyways one thing I left out is if I try to click the power button while I am in one of the blank submenus it just goes back to the main menu.
Any help would be very much appreciated and also I do not have a usable computer ATM so everything I do is with my phone or someone else's.
Thanks guys for all the fantastic threads for the mt4g, it only took me about 2hrs to get s-off and roms installed, minus the 4 hrs it took me to realize that only the final s-off method works on the 0.86.0000 bootloaders.
Again thank you.

Are you hitting the power button? If so, you need to click the track pad to select a sub menu in recovery. This happened to me as well until I tried the track pad and it works flawlessly!!!!
Try using the track pad to select your option... Sounds like you are using the power button to make selections in recovery which just puts the phone to sleep, so to speak...

Oh I didn't think to try that because I'm not use to having a trackpad. Thank you for your help.
