I would be glad to help you out, but you are posting this in the wrong place. This is the development section where developers work on developing new ROMs, kernels and nice little hacks that make ours phones better. So if I were to tell you that you need to first flash the DK28 modem found here-
http://firon.net/xda/stock.dk28.modem.update.signed.zip
then I wouldn't be helping matters now would I?

You can't flash froyo roms on eclair. Maybe you should do a little more reading first before you start flashing. Go to the wiki and read some stuff in there. I'm not trying to ba an ass but that doesn't even make sense.

Actually that's exactly what you do after odining the dk28 modem. You flash the dk28 right on top of eclair.

I gave him the link to the DI18 to DK28 modem flashable zip. That way he can avoid using odin.

Please post questions in General section.

I think there's a link to an RUU file somewhere in this forum. Search around.

I saw the RUU, but I thought that was the RUU for the original 2.2. I didn't think it included the OTA update.

Ah, I don't think it does, but this forum has instructions for manually pushing that update.
I think someone around here also posted a nandroid of oem, so if you root and install clockwork recovery you can nandroid back that way.
I was hoping for a stock rom post OTA just so it would make it easier for me to attempt to customize my own rom. I wanted to make a senseless barebones version of the stock OS for myself. I'm very new to rom building so I figured a post OTA rom was the easiest way to start.

No worries, we just get A LOT of redundant questions on this board so it's a good habit to search first.
Please post questions in Q&A section.
At 25.11.2010 there is no RUU with 2.2.1 (build version more than : 1.14.531.1)
T-Mobile promises it, but not post yet

NOT unless you save your original rom .
However you can get back to Stock Samsung rom that's the firmware before its been customized by the phone network .

Seriously dude, if you can’t give an answer, you are allowed to not post anything and waist more space. If you really feel you need to say something, direct the user, or do something useful.
Darkys rom is probably the best - at least the one I enjoy most.
Ps. Even though your question borders on being General, if you want to ask ROM related question please do so in the "Galaxy S I9000 Q&A", before someone die.
thanks JJEgan and everyone for support, i'll try some roms!

How do I get Froyo?

I feel kind of odd for asking this, but see, I am going on a long roadtrip Monday and the Boinix v 1.3 rom i was using the battery kept going dead so fast no matter how much i re-flashed it. So, I decided to use odin to get back to stalk and wiped all user data and cache and now I am stuck at stock 2.1 update 1.
How did you get Bionix on your phone in the first place?
Just look thru the stickies. It contains all the info you are looking for.

Wait, what? How the hell did I permit anything or ever exchange words with you EVER?
All of this talking, and not many answers.
Mini kies is what you used to get stock froyo, officially.
since you have root, I would backup, wipe, flash a new rom (trigger), and recalibrate your battery. All of which is in my signature.

Ty, I think I will do that because Trigger seems to be one of the best out there as of now.
Non -productive...
Why is the insulting and no-productive comment tolerated here. Te users should not make the decision of if the is the right place for a Question, but rather help and move along. There is a reason that there are forum moderators. I just wish that people knew their place, rather than try to be the forum police.
Glad the answer help, and I hope you have fun on your trip.

Hello

Hi
I have read over and over again on how to root and still not understand it. I read wiki and for some reason I dont know if its my computer or my phone anyway I would really really appreciate any help you can give a noob. I have downloaded the froyo eco5. And it stinks and I would really like to learn how to install a custom rom. I used to be able to do it on my Samsung Omnia but that was easier. Im going to be on all afternoon so if someone has the time I would really appreciate it
Thanks
Jeff
Well if u want to root there's a 1 click root in the dev section I would say do the one with clockworkmod 3.0.0.6 it converts u to ext4 and most roms now require clockworkmod 3 anyways. Make sure u read good and have a rom ready to flash cuz if u do cwm3 when u first boot into recovery it will convert u to ext4 and u have to flash a rom right afther its done. DO NOT REBOOT THE PHONE until u flash the rom that is very important. Good luck buddy

Watch these videos, if you still can't get it just give up
Don't turn off your phone unless nothing is happening for at least 10 minutes, make sure you have USB debugging on in Settings>Applications>development and do not hit "Connect USB" when using one click root.

Gingerbread leak/unrooted

Can anyone link me to a live/working DL link for the DX gingerbread leak? I want to flash it on my bros phone. He's having problems while on liberty and I wanna get him as far back to stock as possible. I know how to use RSD but we're at work right now so I'm trying to do this all without my laptop.
Oh...I'm looking for the unrooted leak. Thank you for the help. I really appreciate it.
