There is currently no available image of your stock bell firmware for the tab.
I know this as I have two of them
Are you having any issues? (as in, why do you want to flash back to stock)
I am having a hard time rooting. I am using jm6 and currently I cannot flash with Z4root or super one click

I am looking for this as well.
Essentially I want to start from total factory reset/from the total beginning.
The problem is the hard reset, is not very hard at all. Wether from the system settings or the recovery menu it doesn't seem to do a TRUE format of the device. There are a lot reminants of previous programs and files... Including the root. My problem is that I want Kies to recognize the damned device.

I just rooted my phone, I first thought this would be really useful but it isn't really for me. Am I right in saying that the only way to revert back to my original ROM(?) will be to flash my phone effectively loosing all the data on it? Or can I keep all my data, my text messages phone history etc?
I haven't installed any custom ROMs, just rooted using unrevoked 3. Will my OTA updates be blocked? Can I update to 2.2 (official) when it's released? Will this unroot my phone?
Thanks, I'm new to all this stuff.
u dont need to unroot, just install ota and phone will be unrooted

So the OTA updates aren't blocked because I'm not using a custom ROM?
Im not sure but i think if the phone is rooted you have to install the update manualy from recovery if the ota is here

So I will loose no data off my phone by doing the OTA update when it is released? And my phone will become unrooted too?
data will be lost, but if you did nandroid backup you can restore later data
dl titanium backup from market first, backup all your apps, and then you'll be fine.
Hy, i have the same questions myself, glad to know more about it using your topick here. But i have a little question: if your phone was originaly in an different language (Dutch in my case), will this OTA update reset the phone again in that original language?
Thanks in advance,
Erwin

It should do, as long as your phone is still network locked?
Anyway can't you change your Phone's language from the settings menu? Settings>Language & Keyboard>Select locale
Oh and thanks for all the replies guys, I may actually keep my phone rooted, I will probably flash Wildpuzzle when it supports the European features such as friend stream which seem to be blocked on the China ROM.
Hey xda-friends that is my first thread so please be generous.
On topic:
I have a unlocked sgs 8gb from germany i made my first update from 2.1 to 2.2(jp6) with the reghack via kies than i made myself a jig cable just in case......
Now my customitations began oclf2 new luncher gingerbread keyboard and so on i am very happy with performance and everything .....
So my question would be is there a good reason i am missing to update to the new 2.2.1 releases (i don't have recovery avaible just download mode via jig .
i am not really into modyfying my bootloader (3btn fix) but i would do it if it is really needed ......
Thank u in advance for any suggestions tips or help

My first upload with this phone went wrong and I did not have the 3-button combo. Had to send it in for repair and got it back again without the 3-button combo. First thing I did was enable it by flashing a new bootloader (this time I used Win XP x86 instead of Win 7 x64 as Odin did not seem to work well on Win7 here).
I did it because I knew I was going to do uploads again, I simply want to be able to use the latest roms
If you can live without flashing roms (unofficial ones) then there's no need to flash the bootloader although I can imagine that even with the official updates from KIES something can go wrong.
However with your cable that enables the download mode, you should be able to recover from any faulty flash. Recovery mode can always be accessed from a reboot command line.
As for 2.2.1, I'm very happy with the performance (no lag seen so far) and especially the battery usage seems promising in my current config. However it takes time to evaluate a new rom as the first days of usage are normally not representative for general usage patterns of the phone. If you want to know peoples opinions, I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few more weeks.
P.S.: I did the update to 2.2.1 using the KIES registry hack
How to do registry heck? Is it dangers for the phone? I don't have 3 combo buttons work.

You can find the application here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628
You will basically make KIES think that you have a different product code which allows you to install an update that is limited to a certain region only.
Full instructions are in the thread above, make sure to read those before you start with this.
Thank u for ur comments
One more question do i need recovery mode? I mean if smth goes terrible wrong ->stock fw reapartion in odin fine or is there a situation where i really need recovery?

If you can flash with odin does this mean you can get Download mode(home, vol DWN and Pwr)? If so recovery of firmwares is no problem in the event of a brick.

Just hooked up my i9000m to Kies and got a message telling me an update is available.
PDA: KC1 / PHONE: KC1 / CSC: KC1 (BMC)
What is it?
Froyo 2.2.1?
Gingerbread?
Has it been out for a while?
I haven't hooked up the phone since the last update which fried my SGS by the way...
Can't seem to fin any info on the forum, or anywhere else on the web for that matter, so don't flame me if I'm just too dumb to find it.
Thanx!
update it and let us know
Just installed and it's just 2.2 (not even 2.2.1) according to the phone.

Confirmed, nothing more than some sort of "bug fixing update".
I'd love to see the change log however...
I'm already on 2.3.3 but would love to get my hands on this modem file.
does the upgrade keep all of your settings and installed apps intact?

anyone have a link for info on this update?
my phone disconnects each time the firmeware is about to start in Kies...don't know whats going on. Anyone with the update notice any differences?
If I installed speed mod kernal without lag fix can I just plug into kies to update or do I need to restore default kernal
Anyone care to post the firmware?
Is the modem KC1? I'm curious if we could use this modem with the leaked gingerbread!
Does the update keep the root or should I root again after it?

Ok, updated, rooted, Armenian fonts installed.....
Except for the new style gmail app, does anybody see other differences from jl2?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Anybody mind sharing the modem? This might be a replacement modem for jl2 for a lot of people.
You can extract the modem from your updated phone.
From terminal emulator or adb:
dd if=/dev/block/bml12 of=/sdcard/bml12
This will save a copy to sdcard.

you can tell if its any different by looking at the 'baseband version' - if its something newer than JL2 then the community would definitely love it!
I'm a bit confused by all the 'stuff' that can be installed and downloaded. I don't want to root or change ROMs, I just want to change to 2.3.4 from 2.3.3 as according to some, that's enough to improve battery life. So what's the simplest way for dummies like me to do it? What else do I need to install to do it, apart from the i9100XXKG1.zip ? Risk of bricking phone? Need to backup settings, apps, etc? Reverting to 2.3.3 easy?
As far as im aware unless samsung update their stock firmware you will need to root your device and choose one of the custom roms that include the version your wanting.

Just flash the 3 files in the zip, using odin, and then do nothing else.
Find the 2.3.3 (same 3 files) flash them, and your back.

Harolds is right. You just unzip the 2.3.4 firmware and flash the three files. You do not need to be rooted to flash firmware using Odin
Thanks guys. Is there any risk I can brick the phone before I go ahead? Do I install odin to my PC and flash from the PC to the phone whilst the phone is connected?
If its that easy i may be tempted, will this fix the echo issue that is problematic? Plus is it a warranty breaker?

It's a good point. It could break the warranty or even brick the phone. I'm wondering how far away the official version is. If it's just a matter of weeks, I'd feel safer holding fire, knowing that I'd (presumably?) be covered in the event of something going wrong.

If one flashes the 3 files, then the ROM will be updated to KG1, isn't it? Say, if I have KE7 and flashes the 3 files then I go to KG1? If I just want to upgrade to the 2.3.4 kernel, shouldn 't I only flash the zImage file from the tar archive?

Well I wouldn't say it couldn't brick the phone and its quite easy to flash back to stock to keep the warrnty if needed. Bricking is rare but as I said I couldn't guarantee it wouldn't happen. Normally worse case is soft brick and you can get into download mode again with the power-volume down and menu button - or by using a jig. Even though its not official firmware, it shouldn't up your custom rom count, at least it didn't on mine. But go with what you are comfortable with.

Thanks for the info. So it's pretty safe to do this in the knowledge that the warranty is ok by virtue of being able to return to stock rom, and a soft brick can be fixed. I presume there's also a more serious 'hard' brick, does that mean the phone becomes utterly useless and can't be fixed?
If I go ahead with this now, I can easily re download my apps as I believe they get wiped. But what about SMS messages, email settings, call logs, accounts and other general settings on the phone, do they get wiped?
Does anyone know how i can obtain the stock rom that came with my canadian virgin mob s2? I had to root it to unlock it and now that its done, I'd like to have it back on the original rom. Reason for this is to get rid of triangle on boot and have everything on factory settings.

It hasn't been released yet. We're all in same boat in regards to rooting/unlocking.
Sent from my GT-I9100M using XDA App
thats the main reason why I'm running the stock bell rom. I want to be able to return to stock should I need to with ease.
Plus the device is really very good out of the box, I just but ADW EX on for customizing it and that was it.
Thanks for the reply guys. I'm a total noob to this. How would I know if I'm even running a different Rom other than stock? In order to unlock my device I had to root it. Does rooting install a new Rom or does it just give admin privileges?
If I was with Bell then this wouldn't be an issue, though I'd still want my device unlocked. The reason I'm asking is coz that yellow triangle at boot drives me crazy.
Any ideas when the stock Rom will be available?
Thanks for the help.
ps. So far this phone absolutely rocks. Not too crazy with the batter life, but they can't all be perfect can they
Rooting only gives you root privileges, installing a different ROM is a separate endeavour.

Pretty much all you have to know about the Canadian SGS2. To figure out if you have the stock firmware type *#1234# and compare that info to the one provided in the post. There's also a link to a guide to remove the yellow triangle.
