Downgrade to 2.1 from official 2.2 ota updat? - Wildfire General

As the title says, is it possible?
I had read that creating a goldcard will allow me to install an older version of software than the one currently on it. So i can root and flash a 2.2 rom...
thanks.

Not possible so far, as per my information.

[Q] Rooting the legend..before and after

Hello!
I am considering rooting my beloved Legend, however i have a few questions before i start.
I´ve read that i can´t apply my own custom recovery, so how do the recovery work then?
After i´ve rooted the phone and installed a new ROM, can i just run the official update from HTC when they release Froyo for us, and have their update on it?
And the last question, in MoDaCos guide to root, it says the HBOOT should be of version 0.43 or below, mine´s 0.43.0001 - is this the same as 0.43?
Regards, patrick
>I´ve read that i can´t apply my own custom recovery, so how do the recovery work then?
Don't know how recovery works on other phones, but the ROMmanager app works as expected.
>After i´ve rooted the phone and installed a new ROM, can i just run the official update from HTC when they release Froyo for us, and have their update on it?
don't know. Mine offered me an OTA right after rooting (which also required a downgrade), but I didn't take it since I wasn't sure if it would break anything.
Custom ROMs that just take the official OTA and add root should be out quite soon after the official release though.
>And the last question, in MoDaCos guide to root, it says the HBOOT should be of version 0.43 or below, mine´s 0.43.0001 - is this the same as 0.43?
Same hboot here, worked just fine. I think some other guide actually stated version 0.43.xxx or below, so it seems the 0001 doesn't matter.

[Q] New upgrade help

Hi,
I bought a Legend a couple of weeks ago and I been playing with it, I'm to afraid to try to root it and at the end I'm leaving this phone to my wife and getting something more high end for me.
Now I noticed that Froyo is out for the phone. But when I try to find the update OTA it says that my phone is up to date.
The specs are
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband
47.39.35.09U_7.08.35.21
Software number
2.06.709.3
I don't want root access or anything (but if I need to root it I will), what I do is
Downloaded the debranded ROM
put it in the SD Card Root file.
Start the Phone in recovery mode
But I get a big red Triangle with a ! sign after that.
Do i need the "golden card" to be able to upgrade?
The Froyo update is not available to unbranded Legends yet. You just have to wait a few more days (maybe) for it to be released for unbrandeds or your specific carriers ROM.
If you really can't wait you can root your Legend to install the Vodafone Froyo ROM which is already available as rooted version here.
Here is a thread with a good overview of some important threads you might want to check:
Development FAQ
You will find the links to two threads you need to root your phone.
1. [HOWTO] DOWNGRADE to 1.31 which you can then root for Legend 2.1
2. [HOWTO] Rooting your Legend! Guide from MoDaCo!
after successfully rooting you can download "ROM Manager" from the Market and for example this rooted Froyo ROM:
[ROM]FroYo - Android 2.2 -Kernel 2.6.32.17 - Build on Vodafone release - ROOTED!. Just move the .zip to your SD Card and choose to install a ROM from SD in the ROM Manager menu.

help me please

i have updated my,wildfire to 2.2.1 official ota but now i am unable to root it with unrevoked so
i wnt to know, how can i downgrade it to 2.1 os or when the latest version of unrevoked will be launched.
AFAIK, Downgrading doesnt work on the latest OTA Froyo upgrade. It just did on the old CN (Chinese) Froyo ROM. However, you can still have a look at that thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847443
NOTE: It is potentially risky, and, you may end up bricking up your Wildfire permanently.
As for Unrevoked release, it will be released when it is ready. Dev Teams work as per their will (And rightly so), and, there is no ETA or date of release.
Thread moved to General.

[Q] HTC WildFire updated froyo OTA revert to 2.1

Hi,
I have updated my HTC Wildfire OTA with 2.2
I want to revert back to 2.1
How can I do that ?
I don't want any unofficial version to be installed.
You cant, sorry.
BTW, 2.2 OTA is official, and since you dont want any unofficial version, you should be happy I guess. :/

It is possible but there is a moderate to high probably brick your phone...basically you're stuck with Official 2.2 unless you change your mind and root your phone and put a ROM on like Cyanogen or Wildpuzzle.

Hello, just wait or try to find the latest rom on the forum ...
You will not receive the OTA udate on a rooted handset. You will either have to unroot and wait for the 3 software release or download the stock 2.3 rom and install.
can i not just unroot some how and leave it on the stock unbranded to be able to recieve the ota update?

I have my phone rooted and i receive the OTA update saturday ...
I have just re installed visionary to attempt to unroot my dhd - but it says my device does not appear to be rooted!?!!
maybe i should just install the RUU
does anybody have the link?
cheers
You should instal 1.32 ruu exe then do temp root through visionary. Open the radio s-off tool which you can find somewhere on the forum and you need to do stock cid which is HTC_001 and you'll receive update
Forgot to add that I have a three branded dhd but now it's unbranded
1.32 can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824357
radio s-off here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
and you'll receive update
legend!! cheers mate, its now found the update...
now just hope the install doesnt crash or anything
if you have original recovery and you didn't uninstall any system apps you'll be fine
