Hey all,
I broke my phone over 4 weeks ago now, it was sent off for repair on the 31st of August to the HTC repair center in the UK.
The screen was fine, however the LED underneath was broke and I couldnt see the screen (2 white lines on it). This cost me £120 to repair - where I was told in the vodafone shop by a woman (who didnt even know what the phone was) that it would probably cost £40 - I didnt get my hopes up on that though xD
Now exactly 4 weeks later it has arrived in perfect condition, it had a scratch on the back which seems to have been polished out as it is now barley visible which is nice of them.
So yeah, just a little bit of information for people sending their phones off
Now its time to install a rom
oh my god, it took a month for them to fix it?thats pretty shabby service, mine went last week, if it aint back by friday and i will be pissed and on the phone!
good to hear your phones in good shape but 4 WEEKS!!!, thats pretty piss poor service if you ask me. im in the same boat as OrionCarl, sent mine last monday and they recieved it tuesday, how long does it take to flash a phone...?. i've already been on the phone yesterday and was told to call again tomorrow if my ticket/tracking hasnt changed. really want my phone back.........
I got mine back last week after 2 months of repair. It got crushed in a car door and was actually bent, with cracked LCD and glass. The chap in the TMobile store actually laughed at me and said it was a hopeless case, but Fone Doctors on London Bridge Station came through. New LCD, Digitizer (and possibly mainboard) for £140.
The insurance companies must hate this.
£20-30 excess and brand new phone the next day.
HTC repair in the UK (not far from where I live) are unbelievably shabby, failed to notify me that they would charge me for a repair which should have been covered under warranty so that if I had just waited they'd have destroyed my phone, not return it but destroy it!
well i called back today, as told on monday and was told to call again on friday if the repair status doesnt change by then. the guy said there was a huge backlog of broken phones to fix. really crap service !!!
mine still says repair, service does seem shabby sadly, will ring tomorrow and have a moan, if I left my custmomers waiting for parts for a month, i wouldnt have a job!!!!
As stated in trading standards repair centers have 28 days to repair or replace a phone if it runs over this time scale then you have the right to demand a replacement handset 28days is deamed as reasonable time scale for a repair. If you got it from a network shop eg o2 there repair center will do it as quick as they can but if its not bk by 28 days you will be sent a refurbed handset which is sometimes better than a repair.

so my streak just broke. it fell out of my pocket and hit the ground and cracked the screen. i call dell and ask if they can repair andd they tell me at this moment they have no repair center for the streak, so i have to buy another one. but im not going to buy another, im just going to at t and getting a samsung captivate... Any thoughts????
Thoughts about you buying a Captivate?
Thoughts about the whole situation...is there any thing I can do to get my streak replaced or something and if switching to the captivate would be a good move
Sent from my Nexus One
it really sucks that they can sell a device with no repair options for the customer to pay for I have registered a complaint with my credit card compnay about the purchase with no service options. They stated to me that they had no repair center for the streak i asked them how do the justify the one year warranty with no repair option. i so miss my streak been dead as **** for a week.
yea they told me the same thing, no repair center. how can that be possible.
Oh! I am shocked. The company that is run by Mr. Accounting Irregularity himslef, the king of crappy capacitors, Michael Dell, is taking money for extended warranties to a product that they cannot repair anywhere. This is truly unexpected.
Just say no to Dell!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/22/dell-paying-100-million-t_n_656234.html
ohly smoke! that is sad...............
look on the bright side. you can get a new dell streak now for under $500 with tax through dell
http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/dell-streak-5-inch-touchscreen-android-smartphone/23638.aspx
If it's a guarantee problem they replace it without any quibbles, if it's not you'll just have to wait. The Streak is flying off the shelves faster than they can make them so there are no spare parts available just now. Eventually you'll see parts start appearing and then maybe Dell will start a repair service.
So do you think that eventually they will be able to repair a cracked screen or not
Sent from my Nexus One
I think just what I posted... maybe.
yea but the cracked screen specifically, would it be possible to fix
Writing now from the cracked screen streak as well. Dropped it this evening from the height of about 1.5m to the concrete, right across London abercrombie and fitch. The screen is all covered with spiderweb of cracks but works flawlessly as LCD board survived without any issues. The chassis of the phone proved itself to be rigid armed there is only one scratch mark right where the impact took place. Everything works, when I dropped my streak a friend of mine was calling, so I just lifted it up and answered the call and only after I finished I burst into tears going to carphone warehouse tomorrow, hopefully they will replace the screen for me.
Damn. Still so painful.

I just got a letter back from Amex with an RMA number for dell. They are refunding the total amount of the streak to me.
Dell replaced mine without a problem
I called Dell tech support and they forwarded me to Dell mobility who indicated that Dell will replace the cracked screen with a FREE once in a lifetime replacement. Further they paid all the shipping for the cross-shipment.
Two days later I had my replacement unit in my office, and on Monday I will send them back my broken one. I used the Dell PC Suite to back and restore all my data and I am happy as a clam.
Needless to say, I didn't even take the new item out of the box until I had bought my new Otterbox!
Dell Rocks! (On this one at least.) Nice customer service experience guys.
Since all Streak's bought from Dell include a 1 year warranty, why not just tell Dell it won't power on anymore (or something that makes them believeit's a defect covered under warranty). Mine came with something like a 1 day exchange, so by the time you get a replacement and mail back your broke Streak, there is nothing they can do about it. That way you could even blame whatever company they tell you to use for shipping.

Dell is sending me another phone
It sounds like Dell will send you one new phone. I told them my screen cracked. I was asked if I dropped it and said yes. It also sounds like the replacement phone will still have 1.6 and will be locked. I was also told that all the phones will be updated by the end of Dec. My screen wasn't that bad, I wonder if I should have waited. All and all I am pertty happy.
Cracked screen!
Hi,
I have also crakced my screen - well my 1 yr old son did!
I have just emailed O2 asking if they do repair them. As I have no insurance, I am expecting to pay up to £150.
Like above, I can use the touch controls too, but just have the bottom all smashed up and waiting to cut my finger-tip!
Anyone had their screen replaced from UK? How much did it cost?
Thanks!
I posted an ebay link in another thread (don't remember which). Actually it's not a link but an item number you can search. you can order replacement screens/glass and it comes with DIY instructions on replacing it.

I cracked my screen and took it to carphone warehouse. They quoted me £39 to repair it and sent it off but when I went to pick it up they just gave me brand new one.
Thanks guys for the quick responses! I will get back if/when fixed.

Just to give people a heads up that need their EVO's exchanged via service centers or replaced via insurance. For the past few days ALL replacement Evo's that I've had come in have been flashed to the new OTA prior to shipping. There may be instances where some service centers may have some 2.2 Evo's on hand (not likely) but for the most part expect to get a 2.3 Evo if you need to have yours replaced.
got mine replaced and got in Wednesday still had 2.3

What's the refurb date on yours. The ones I'm getting in are no more than a week old.
The biggest complaint about Sprint I could have is that they run everything through insurance. Verizon (who I left to get Evo) would replace your phone with no deductible if it was a defect. IE: not charging, something not working properly etc etc. There basically could be no water damage and the phone had to be less than a year old. I pay for insurance for other reasons, such as loss, theft, drop a brick on it and such.
You guys have the same experience? Just trying to see if its the two stores I've went to that "look" at the phone and say if you want a new one do it through insurance.
i have two repair centers here next to me who always replace my phone for free, as long as there's no water damage, r u sure u r visiting repair centers?
A repair center near me was going to replace my phone for free sure to a speaker defect. No insurance needed. Same for others I've talked to. A long as it is a defect in the phone then they will replace it for free.
Where the phones activated? If so that's why it was 2.3

The only time we replace phones is if there are main board issues, everything else we repair in house. Main board issues are cover under the exchange program and we order the exchange right away. If it's shattered screens or water damage the we check to see if the customer is eligible for an upgrade so we can present the customer with options (upgrade or insurance). If they want to file a claim we walk them through it.
PM me where you live and I'll see if I can't track down a decent service center.

Thank you so much for the solid info. I'll shoot you a message later after I get out of this meeting. Again, much appreciated.
It's usually pretty cut and dry if you take it to a Sprint Service/Repair Center. If there is physical damage then it will go through Insurance. Hardware defect it is swapped free of charge. They have the option to repair some physical damage...... If you take it anywhere else they will insurance it for the $100 or send you to a Sprint Service/Repair Center. We'll they should remind you, but usually don't.
I have never had to pay a single claim except for when I lost my phone.
I went to a Sprint Repair center once to have my screen swapped (I have the white spots that are a manufacturer defect) and they told me I would have to go through insurance. I haven't tried a different Service/Repair center yet. Know of any good ones in the Miami, Fl area?
I recently (Jan 31) sent my Samsung Note 3 to Samsung (Plano, TX) for an LCD repair and saw some of the bad rap samsung has been given over their repair process and decided to post my own experience with their repairs. I shipped the phone without the back, charger, box, manuals with a prepaid UPS 2 day air label (got it for free from samsung), phone got there around February 4 and samsung started repairs on the 5. I thoguht I would have my phone back in no time, just to be disappointed two days later that my phone did not pass Quality Assurance test, after three failures in total Samsung decided to swap out my motherboard and then it passed the test and was shipped! Overall for a free service it took around 2 weeks total (not business days), this service sadly is not like Apple's exchange your broken device for a refurb. I will try to update my post once I receieve my phone back (I heard some people receiving their phones with more problems than they had to begin with, so fingers crossed ).

O ok. Here is how At&t works, they will cover the device for 1 year from purchase date regardless of who purchased it or where you bought it from. I found this out with a phone I bought on craigslist. I was the 4th owner but it did not matter. At&t shipped me a replacement phone 2nd day shipping and I returned my defected one to them. I don't praise At&t very often but their warranty dept is good in that aspect. Now getting a perfect refurbished replacement is another story, I went through 4 in a week and finally got a perfect one.

That is how Verizon was with me.
AT&T (The service center, not a local store, but it happens to be about 10 minutes from here) tried to reflash my Note 3 (bought from a Big Box store). Failed. "Must be a hardware problem, we'll have to replace your phone." I was out of there in 10 minutes with a replacement (after sitting for about half an hour waiting to be taken, waiting for the flashing - I wasn't the first one in the door that day.) They kept my Zagg screen shield (my error - I should have asked for it back), but otherwise no complaints. New phone, old battery, old S-Pen, old SIM, old SD card. I've been treated a lot worse by other companies. +1 for my local AT&T DSC.
still haven not received my phone back sadly. UPS must be under heavy load or the driver is afraid of snow. Anyone know any apps that would do some testing on phones (test bluetooth, wifi, screen and such)?
Ok got my phone back a couple days ago, everything seems to function well and im very happy with my repaired note 3. If anyone has any questions about the repair or quality of it, ask away and to anyone looking to send their phone in, I would recommend only doing it ONLY IF its your LAST option, as mentioned by the other forum members to use AT&T instead (which hopefully i wont have too).
When I broke the screen on my S4, I smashed the screen on a laptop out of anger.
Rough day and that didn't help.
I hate to see what I'd do if I broke this beautiful display....

AT&T does not do screen replacements. You either go through Samsung, do it yourself or have a repair shop do it in your local area or from online.

Today was a sad day for me. I was working with cables under my desk and my phone was next to me. An object fell off the desk and its corner landed right on my screen. The picture says it all.
Has anyone had to get their screen replaced? Did you go through LeEco support? I'm curious what it is going to cost and what the turn-around looks like. I've contacted support and I'm waiting to hear back.
Thanks!
I contacted support to see if there is a way to buy official screen replacements. They offered me a repair service, I had to pay for the shipping (both ways), but they couldnt gave me a price for the repair, they had to see fthe damage first. Finally I bought a screen replacement from aliexpress, 89 dlls with "fast" shipping. It should be delivered next monday.

Great for you. I told them I dropped the phone maybe thats why they have to charge me. Look at their answer:
"Regarding to your concern about the your cracked screen, as you mentioned earlier that you dropped your phone accidentally, we are sorry to say that we cater only for those issue with manufacturer defects. Since you dropped your it is automatically void it warranty. Please mind that you will charge on the repair service that we provided. "
For me the shipping was about 50 dlls, plus the repair fee, wich they did not how much it could be, I calculated around 120 dlls total. Thats why I bought a replacement from China.

They wanted me to ship with FedEx. The cost was about $14 for 2 day business, which included insurance for $400. The package weighed 1.5lbs.
Originally they had asked for me to print a return label, however that isn't possible with FedEx (afaik) because you have to specify a shipping date. I was expecting an email from them, but it looks like they ended up covering the return shipping cost.
I do have to say that the communication is a little lacking from LeEco. The only reason I know it was sent yesterday is because of how I have my FedEx account setup. It notifies me when packages are sent to my address. I never received any confirmation that it was received, had been processed, or that it was even shipped back. Not a huge deal since the turn was ridiculously quick.

I remember checking some prices to ship from El Paso, Texas to I believe it was Irving, Texas, it was around 60 dlls including a return label. Let me know when you recieve your phone to see the how they did it! I´ll will be replaceing myseñf the screen this weekend
I got the phone back today. It is as good as new. It is as if I never shattered the screen! LeEco FTW .
Mine broke too. Kind of random because it broke right down the center without warning. I shipped it to Irving via USPS with Insurance. Shipped it flat rate in a padded mailer with the phone inside a prepaid USPS flat rate box inside. $6.80 each way to ship out and back.
I think they default to saying use UPS and FedEx because that have those mailers in house and also because they are well known in the business world. Figured if I shipped them a box inside a box for USPS they'd ship it back. Will let you all know how it turns out.

No it is not tempered glass. That is a rumor spawned by ignorance.
How easy was it to replace? Did you have to use a heat gun to remove it from the device?
