haven't tried it, bear in mind that our hd2's only have 2 state led's (orange & green) so you won't get the full benefits of this app.
if your main concern is tracking CPU usage try 'SystemPanel' from the market.
or if you want a live CPU usage indicator try 'Quick System info Pro' which has an option to add a CPU &/or memory load indicator to the notification bar.

Hi ,
Download "advance task manager lite" off the Market. This is a very very helpful app which can close all your programs running and very simple to use. And it is Free.

It's a free version. The actual name is "Advanced Task Manager Lite" so do a search on "Advanced".
I did do a search and can't find it. Anyone else managed to find it under Rogers in Canada?
I can easy find it. I use it every day, but i find it a bit strange that you cant close apps in any other way! And alot of programs doesnt have a "Quit/Exit" function.
Does anyone have any explanation to why its not possible to close programs without download extra programs?
you know,
I think i heard Something about when you leave the app , it does actually sort of close.
It saves the state you left it in (freezes) and unfreezes when you enter it again. So really the App is not running or using any comsumption at all until you are in the app.

This is true.
It is because android is awesome at app management. There is no real need for closing apps. It leaves apps kinda open (saves their state in ram) but not running. That`s why most apps open so fast. And even though more ram is "in use" it doesn`t cost you battery life.
Thanks for confirming ,
What a fantatic way , The OS is fantastic and I can guarantee that Android has alot of potential and Can only get better and come up with more technological breaking idea's!!

Oh i didnt know that!! Sounds really fantastic. I have to get used to a whole new way of thinking then, i think im too used to windows
Anyway. I love Android more and more. But i was shocked when i found out that you cant send or receive files via bluetooth. I hope this is their number 1. priority in the next released. I mean, comon .. phones have been able to do this for 10 years now!

i did not find it either. i m using rogers too
but you can download Close Everything at Market for free.
i think those apps are similar. the only difference is you have to close EVERYTHING instead of choosing an app to end it.
anyway, the system is not getting slower even i open lots apps.
maybe, the "freeze" thing is true
yesterday I had my phone fully charged before i got to sleep, in the morning 8 hours later the battery was almost empty. GPS and WIFI was disabeld, so I think all the programs in the "background" ( a lot ) killed the battery.
Or what do you think killed the batt?

if you disable background data usage in data sync that will save batt life and lower data usage too.
do not know if that helps at all

alarms still work (tested just now)
i do not know how that app works ~oops~
maybe it does not work at all hahaha
not all programs stop running. some are designed to run in the background
the only real way to check what is running is to use a task manager
I paid $0.99 for advanced task manager. Its a good, but basic app. And hardly breaks the bank at that price!
The other issue I get is "go slows" sometimes on the phone. It doesn't seem to crash, just response times go into the seconds. I switch off and on to soft reset and its fine.

Why should I disable data usage? If i have an app that use data, then I only need to close the app. Please correct me if I´m wrong.

Improve Battery life with automated tasking!

I have struggled with horrible battery life. I tried everything from roms, radios, setcpu, registry tweaks, all builds on this site and still couldnt pull much more out of my battery.
I ran across an app yesterday while digging through some articles looking for a battery miracle and found an app on the market called tasker. It is an automated tasking app that allows you to set different variations for anything you could imagine on your phone.
I have only scratched the surface with what it can do. The link below has a simple GPS setup to get started.
It enables you to turn on a certain function (WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth) when you open an app and then allows you to close it once the app closes. No more forgetting to use the power control widget!
Hopefully this thread can evolve with suggestions and other setups to help save more battery!
Today I was able to get 13 heavy usage hours out of my phone. Before this I was in the neighborhood of 8-10 depending on usage.
Any suggestions or new scenarios appreciated.
Hope this helps!

Absolutly correct, nearly the greatest program I have seen for android...
Isn't it a paid app?
Yes it's is. See : http://tasker.dinglisch.net/
There a direct Purchase form the author site that is cheaper from The Market

Does Tasker support turning on/off 3G? I.E. could I set it to turn off 3G ad drop to EDGE when the screen is off, thus saving battery?
yeah.. it works awesome.. so many settings to config up.. endless combinations lol..
good stuff dude!
3g
Fmstrat
Yes, you can set it to turn off everything when you turn the sreen off.
To do this go into tasker
Add new
Click Event
Click Display
Click Display off
Click Done
Click Plus sign in bottom left corner
Tap Net
Tap Mobile Data with the gear beside it
So the same thing but in reverse for Display on!
Along with this you can set a time profile to check turn on data every X minutes to grab your emails
New Time
00:00 to 23:59
repeat every x mins
add task mobile data on
It dues shut off APN completely however, I dont think there is a way, yet, to just shut off 3g. If anyone know a way please add it.
Hope this Help!
Looking for help with a profile
Need some help from the community.
I am trying to set up a profile that will work as follows:
Screen off > Kill all tasks using ATK
If I choose it as an app it loads the app but doesn't kill anything. This would be a great battery saver.
Anyone?
This looks like an excellent app.
Just a quick question (I've only ever installed free apps from the market )
If I pay for this app and validate/register it online using a Desire based android build, but then subsequently load a different build (maybe a nexus based one) will the app still install and work correctly?
Or will the app be seen as being transferred to another phone and refuse to work?
Thanks for any advice
Guys,
Please don't post warez or links to warez (see XDA rules).
Thanks

[Q] TOP 5 things to do to your new Wildfire

Hi
Just got a new Wildfire A333 (Buzz?).
Have had experience of playing with the internal settings on an old XDA2i and am now wondering what are the TOP 5 "must haves" for the Wildfire (A333).
The phone was with tesco mobile and just unlocked (£21.99) to use my 3 sim.
Ive read thru the site (a little) but it all gets a bit OTT for someone looking to make those first steps with their brand new phone.
So, anyone care to give me their TOP 5 changes / additions to their Wildfire (A333 / Buzz?) please?
Thanks
Paul
root, custom rom, custom theme, overclock, get rid of sense if possible, turn of cell broadcasting, do something to screen density?
DON'T UPGRADE
Check if call, wi-fi, gps, messages, radio, camera, flash etc work
Sync your contacts and messages, if it matters to you
Get phone housing, screen protector accessories
Check Market for apps that're interesting/essential to you.
Check OS version, if you're on 2.1 (and give no #%$ about warranties), root, nandroid back-up, flash custom ROMS
If you're on 2.2, you can't root it yet, but your phone's awesome anyways, so enjoy it as it is for the meantime tons of stuff on the market anyway.
Good Luck and Congratulations
Thanks for those replies.
I put the wifi button on the screen yesterday (so I can click to turn wi-fi on/off).
Today, my wife has managed to remove it from the screen - and I can't find it again to put it back.
Any ideas please ?

OK just download LCD Density from the market change it to whatever 100 is smallest 200 is largest (in terms of icon size). It should then reboot with the resolution, if you don't like it turn off and pull battery out and it will revert

Cell broadcasting uses loads of battery checking things like the time etc. LCD density is the resolution (or scaling) of the screen, you can change it with an app I described in last comment
1) Root the phone if it is the Android 2.1. (If 2.2 you will have to wait for root).
2) Install a Custom Rom (I like WildPuzzle v0.8)
3) But Screen Protector and Case (Trust me, buy these now)
4) Get LCD Density and change it to 110/100. (Which ever one you like more)
5) This is optional: If you find your phone sluggish - Overclock and take out Sense.

WhatsApp connectivity S8

Hey guys!
I just moved from a rooted LG G4 running Lollipop to the S8 Exynos. It really seems to be a great phone but I'm having issues with WhatsApp.
Sometimes I feel like the messages aren't really coming up in time, I can open the app and see no new message, close the app, open it again and it will reconnect and show me new messages.
It is even more noticeable while using the WhatsApp desktop program on Windows 10. I see a lot of yellow messages saying I'm not connected to the phone OR when I send a messages I see the "clock" instead of the single-double check right away.
My WiFi setting is set to "Always".
I'm not using any battery save option from the phone.
I installed Greenify (not rooted) but WhatsApp is not in the list to hibernate
Any ideas of what is going on? I didn't have this problem on the G4.
have you added whatsapp into the 'unmonitored apps' section in battery settings?
Can you check BBS and see if WA is using crazy amount of sensor usage? Mine is. I had to turn off battery optimization for WA to work.

Sorry, what is BBS?
I've been playing and trying to figure out what is going on. I found out that my phone is running on "optimized" and not in High Performance, Game or Entertainment. Do you guys think this has something to do with it? It shouldn't be this way right? I also have WhatsApp set to ignore any battery save option, according to the app options.
Also, yesterday I turned off my router. I received a message just before turning it off and I saw the notification on the Windows program like I usually do but it took a couple of minutes for the phone to let me know I received a notification, even though the phone had no connection to the internet. lol what?

Thanks! I downloaded the app but I need to do the ADB thing and I left the USB cable at home lol (now I need to buy multiple ones and aren't cheap)
I also noticed that I do receive the visual notifications (like in the notification bar) but the sound and LED notification comes way later.
Anyone solve the sensor issues
I was finally able to solve this problem and decided to put how I did it in case anyone can benefit from it.
I did check that Whatsapp was listed as "Unmonitored apps" in the battery section of device manager, but still had the problem. After further internet research I noticed that people where pointing to the Android's Optimize battery section, which seems that is doing a very similar functionality but is accessed from a completely different place, so make sure Whatsapp is not being "optimized" from here either.
To find this section go to Settings-> Apps -> Click the 3 Dots menu in the top right -> Special access -> Optimize battery usage -> Select "All apps" from the dropdown menu. In here, make sure Whatsapp and any other app that you cannot risk to go to sleep unintended shows as disabled (not being optimized).
Hope this helps someone with this disconnections.

Any App/Mod That Display's Battery Percentage In Notification Shade?

Hey everyone,
I'm rooted and running renovate ice rom and I would like to know if there is a mod/xposed module or whatever that would display the battery percentage in the notification shade. Maybe besides the clock and date. I want something clean and basic.
Samsung have already included a setting for this.
Settings>Display>Status Bar>Show Battery Percentage
Why do you want to install an extra app that will add to your bloatware and incrementally slow your phone down a bit?
I won't recommend installing an app just for that.
This thread has been cleanedLets keep the rude comments and language down as this is a site for people of all ages!!!

Going by the Q's in the Renovate thread I think he (& they) want the percentage ONLY - they want to get rid of the battery symbol as well.
One wanted the %'age inside the batter as well...

It'll walk you thru setting up permissions when you first install the app, as for the battery it's one of the quick toggles you can enable
