Hi
Just got a new Wildfire A333 (Buzz?).
Have had experience of playing with the internal settings on an old XDA2i and am now wondering what are the TOP 5 "must haves" for the Wildfire (A333).
The phone was with tesco mobile and just unlocked (£21.99) to use my 3 sim.
Ive read thru the site (a little) but it all gets a bit OTT for someone looking to make those first steps with their brand new phone.
So, anyone care to give me their TOP 5 changes / additions to their Wildfire (A333 / Buzz?) please?
Thanks
Paul
root, custom rom, custom theme, overclock, get rid of sense if possible, turn of cell broadcasting, do something to screen density?
DON'T UPGRADE
Check if call, wi-fi, gps, messages, radio, camera, flash etc work
Sync your contacts and messages, if it matters to you
Get phone housing, screen protector accessories
Check Market for apps that're interesting/essential to you.
Check OS version, if you're on 2.1 (and give no #%$ about warranties), root, nandroid back-up, flash custom ROMS
If you're on 2.2, you can't root it yet, but your phone's awesome anyways, so enjoy it as it is for the meantime tons of stuff on the market anyway.
Good Luck and Congratulations
Thanks for those replies.
I put the wifi button on the screen yesterday (so I can click to turn wi-fi on/off).
Today, my wife has managed to remove it from the screen - and I can't find it again to put it back.
Any ideas please ?

OK just download LCD Density from the market change it to whatever 100 is smallest 200 is largest (in terms of icon size). It should then reboot with the resolution, if you don't like it turn off and pull battery out and it will revert

Cell broadcasting uses loads of battery checking things like the time etc. LCD density is the resolution (or scaling) of the screen, you can change it with an app I described in last comment
1) Root the phone if it is the Android 2.1. (If 2.2 you will have to wait for root).
2) Install a Custom Rom (I like WildPuzzle v0.8)
3) But Screen Protector and Case (Trust me, buy these now)
4) Get LCD Density and change it to 110/100. (Which ever one you like more)
5) This is optional: If you find your phone sluggish - Overclock and take out Sense.

Have a nice day you all
New kernel [LV 0.6.2] download it from here
Thanks go to erasmux and riemer for the kernel work
Hallo, this rom is really fast, light and very minimalistic and the best for me is that colorize widgets work with the stock launcher! In this configuration its superfast with all widgets i need.
But i have a problem with my signal. Everytime when i hold the hero in my hands, the signal drop down to zero. Its like the bug on Iphone 4g.
a second bug is when i chose the cyan theme, the signal bar switches between white and cyan all the time.
I tested it with the stock kernel of this rom and with las venturas 0.5.
Im on O2 Germany and i have the latest radio
I just remembered this thread. When I was using this rom (yesterday) the market wouldn't show certain apps, e.g. Tweet Deck, and Catch That Bus

The problems with the market is an old one... in many roms you can't use these apps because the limitations of the phone...The best solution is to google them and after that install them from the SD card...be sure to check UNKNOWN SOURCES
If you experience any other problems please tell me

The color thing is with every theme u use...i personally use the same theme because i like the color, but i don't experience the same problem with the network loss...you can have this problems because u use a 3G connection and if it runs out of signal it switches back to 2g and that not so bad for talking..but it's bad when using the internet...
If you don't use a data connection all the time to watch youtube or other things...switch to 2g and see after that
Keep me in touch if you have any other problems and i will try to help you
Stefan
Thanks for your reply!
When i switch to wifi i have the same problem that i lose the signal. So i think its not a problem of switching between 2g and 3g.
In the developing area, there was another guy who had the same problem.
Im now on Floyo1.4 the bug is gone
But i will come back to this rom because its so minimalistic as no other one and thats what i want!
Try this

i sometimes have the same problem... but the phone rings and stuff like that... i think it's sometimes from the thickness of my apartment walls... but outside i don't have any problems
test the phone: if you're in WiFi and the phone rings... If yes that means that the widget has a problem, if you can't be contacted then it means you loose signal
PS: do you keep your phone in a case (like a silicone one or things like ) to protect the phone?
My phone isnt in a case.
Im now on Floyo, but i will move back and test a little bit.
The main reason that i changed was that im searching for a new job and my phone has to work 100%. If a possible new Company want to call me and my phone doesnt work
i will give a feedback soon

Market Issues
Any update on the market force closing?? It closer after the market has been open for about 15 seconds
OMGB 1.2.2:
When I receive a call it takes forever until the screen is lit so I can see who is calling
Running Google Navigation the GPS looses lock after 10 minutes, have to restart application to get it lock again for about 10 more minutes.
Some applications are reported as not compatible with the phone, the cannot be installed from Titanium backup or from market although they should work fine. For example Noom, Handelsbanken, STHLM Traveling.

0.5 seconds is almost ahead of time when being used to Hero...
For me it takes at least 10 seconds before the display is lit, very annoying. I am using SetCPU 352/614.
Nom is here for instance https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wsl.noom&feature=search_result
STHLM Traveling is here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.markupartist.sthlmtraveling&feature=search_result
Both shows as not compatible with HTC Hero in Android market on the web too. But worked fine in Elelinux 7.3 v3.2 GB-ROM.
Is there some way to see exactly why they are not compatible?

Ok...google maps has the same problem...you got to search them on google as STHLM.apk download ; and you install them from the SD card, that is the sollution.
Ele mad a thing and tweaked something in a script and the market works with everything...but it's not so hard to google an app and put it on your sd card
and i recommend flashing the ROM again...maybe there is a problem, i still use the 1.2 version, kind of lazy to update))), ohh and set SetCpu with 691 max and 176 min and tell me if you still have the problem with the answering
Keep me in touch of you manage to resolve the problem,

Nope, I just got a call and the caller showed up as expected so that one seems to be fixed too. Now running smartass/691/352.
So, now we have the possibility to have custom ROMs, flasheable with CWM. THere are already two guys who have put effort out there, and maybe they'd want some ideas on what you people would like. What do you consider that should be in your custom ROM of choice?
Myself, I would love a Reboot and Screenshot option in the power off menu.
Maybe a minimalist version of 2.3?
I want the touchpads to be able to contol the system/launcher, like the D-Pad cans.
Great question.
I already have reboot options in the power menu of my ROM. Taking a serious look at the Screenshot option. Not many ROMs appear to have it though, but I'm going to give it a shot.
Landscape mode for the launcher would be awesome. I know you can use a custom launcher, but I really like the one that comes with the phone

there was a guy who edited the HomeAPK and made it 3 screens landscape
you can edit the Home through comp. to make it more
The stock launcher, at least in the last build, does have landscape support
Enviado desde mi R800i usando Tapatalk
USB OTG would be nice, though that would take some work to do since the stock SE kernel for our play do not support it

The one that comes with the phone does have landscape mode.........
1) Auto Brigtness disable
2) Overclock
3) Use the touchpad as a touchscreen emulator (eg swiping on the touchpad is the same as swiping on the screen, great for browsing without touching the screen)
4) Enable the FM radio

+1 for this. The only thing I liked about the Verizon Play is that it's basically running stock gingerbread. Currently, I'm using my custom "hybrid" of r800i rom mixed with r800x launcher/apps. The upside is that I removed all the sony junk and replaced it with stock android apps (dialer, calendar, contacts, etc) while keeping stuff like working touchpad (which failed me in cyanogenmod) and playstation pocket. The downside is that I can't replace the sony lockscreen and statusbar with the stock one. For now, I'm just using widgetlock to emulate it.
If someone can get a working stock gingerbread rom with NOTHING extra (not even hidden SE apps and services), but still have working playstation pocket and touchpads/xperia optimized apps. I will use it.
AndroHero's ROM is certainly in that path.
But really... the stock GB Launcher too? It couldn't be more spartan if it tried...
I took a good run at adding a Screenshot menu item to the power menu but haven't been successful yet. Ends up crashing on boot, unfortunately, so I'm doing something wrong. Not giving up yet though. Decompiling JARs and trying to understand it all is a huge pain in the ass.
I've got reboot options already though along with the ability to overclock and undervolt.
I was looking towards pretty much going as stock Android as possible, but I wasn't sure anyone would want it.
need a 3g and wifi transfer rate in status bar, to make sure all the things running at the background and another app like fpse or psx4droid just for play ,bcz this is xperia play

Vanilla GB Rom, with PSPocket and Touchpads working (which if CM7 did, would be AWESOME)

I can't get reboot in power menu working. Well i can get it to work, but then the power off option reboots the device too
There's also the issue with Recovery just rebooting and not directly starting recovery yet. I'll take a look at what Power off is doing on mine as well.
Power Off seems to work fine for me. Are you maybe running it with the USB cable plugged in?

Being a noob I am not allowed to post on the development forums...........
last night I upped my Galaxy Tab (Thai ROM) to Gengerbread 2.3.6 and Acudroid V3 ICS Themed.
1st I would like to comment about the instructions and the process:
My Tab is an important work tool for me - and I was a bit worried about bricking it and taking days to recover... BUT - I followed the instructions of Acubens - and where pointed to teamovercome.net kept following their instructions to the letter, and happily after a couple of hours my Tab was running 2.3.3 with teamover's ROM and later 2.3.6 with the Acudroid V3 ROM.
Restoring apps + data was fast and easy using Titanium and very soon I had my phone up and running just like I want it
As far as I can tell so far - seems everything is working fine - phone calls, sms, camera, email, GPS, wifi, GPRS, sounds and notofocations. As I didn't see and speed improvement I downloaded and installed no-frills CPU and overclocked the CPU to 1.2GHz - and now the Tab is FLYING.......
Now that I've done the up and ROM change - I hope to see more new ROMs for the TAB

So far 2 small issues I came accross -
1. Some notification sounds are not right - i had chrome2phone app and instead of just a short bip like it used to be - it was a non stop bipping for about 15 minutes. I removed the app and try to re-install only I can install it now for some reson. I installed for now the "browser 2 droid" instead, but the notification sound is the same 15 minutes non stop bipping...
Don't get sound notifications for "what's up", and on Gtasks. Probably some other apps that I didn't notice so far.
2. On some of the menus the text under the icons is white over white so can't see it before actually pressing it...
as for battery life - seems a shorter than the stock ROM I used before, but that might be becuase I play with the phone a bit more now...

To reduce the issues i only make wipe versions from now on, and nowipe will not be available. I know it is some work but see it this way i have a lot of work to make the rom available, so all i ask from you if you like to use the rom to make an backup and flash a wipe version and it is worth the trouble i think.

Hi,
Sorry but no, i included a app called quickboot, this app shutdown or reboot your tab much faster, and you do not have to use a mechanical button that can be outworn if you use it much.

I looked for a solution and seems there is none... many users complain about the notification sound, some also mention it lasts forever (like mine...), but no 1 mention what version of Android they are using http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/issues/detail?id=239 . It worked fine on froyo - short sound and thats it. so probably some changes between froyo and GB cuases the problem. Only way to stop the sound is by forceclosing the app

WIFI
It seems I have a problem with the WIFI scanning. It only scans when I reconnect the WIFI. If I go out of the WIFI area the tab goes on EDGE as should be, but when coming into a WIFI area it wont show it nor connect to it unless I stop WIFI service and start again. Didn't have this problem on V3... Anyone else got this problem? any solution?

If I go out of the WIFI area the tab goes on EDGE as should be, but when coming into a WIFI area it wont show it nor connect to it unless I stop WIFI service and start again. Didn't have this problem on V3... Anyone else got this problem? any solution?

Hi,
Wifi scanning is set for 180 seconds to save battery, if you like to change that you can install rootexplorer and change settings in build.prop or delete the complete line and save it.
Cheers
Change the build.prop file

Changed it to 45 - hope it fixed the probel (will see next time I leave the office).
For the benefit of other noob's (it took me a while to find out how to do it...) here's how I managed the change step by step:
1. Used Rom Toolbox / scripter / Mount System Read Write / Run
2. Used Root Explorer to go to /system/build.prop << Long press on the file name and change permissions to rwrwrw
3. Used Astro to open the file (long press, select open as / text << select astro's text editor), located the line I wanted to change [wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180], changed the value, saved
4. Used Root Explorer to go to /system/build.prop << Long press on the file name and change permissions to rwr-r-
5. Used Rom Toolbox / scripter / Mount System Read Only / Run
6. Reboot system
Careful not to change something you are not sure about as you might brick the phone....
use ES File Explorer.
Just make sure you go to its setting, Root Option and enable its Root Explorer and Mount File System.
Then you can browse to "Favourite" and select the "/"
and go to systems and edit the build.prop using its own internal ES Edit note, and it even make a backup of the original file for you.
A lot less step than what you needed to do there.
Hello LG G2 section!
I recently bought this beauty and the only things I didn't like were these 2:
1) 2GB ram is typically 1GB since the the other half is reserverd I guess? -Does root changes this?
2) I don't like the Dialer and In-Call UI at all.
I tried some "apps" but those are for having a better number pad UI, so it doesn't change the incoming calls or general in-call UI.
I don't want to root (not yet) and as I know, my last stupid phone (HTC HDmini) was able to change that with a simple .exe file.
Is it possible to do that in android without root/flash?
Any kind of redirect links would be awesome!
My version is 4.4.2.
-Thank you!
1. No of 2 gb 1.8 is available for user the system uses around 1 gb
2. No you need to flash something or use app like full screen calling screen that lag and they doesn't replace the call in screen

If you haven't made any changes to your dialer as of yet, try ex dialer. It's quicker and easier on the eyes....plus you can change themes.

If I am not mistaken, exDialer is an app. That means you have to replace the current phone app with the exDialer.
Also it does not support incoming call changes (which is the ugliest part I think).

Correct....it is an app and you can use it as your default phone if you choose.
But still, my problem is the dialer (which can be changed quite easily with an app) but I want to change the incoming call/ in-call UI too...
I'm also quite unhappy with the looks of stock G2 dialer and the rest of the LG apps and I'm currently looking forward to jump to Cloudys G3 port....but it's too buggy still....so as a temporary workaround I've been replacing most stock apps with 3rd party apps and some G3 app ports i 've found here and there like the keyboard and notification panel...the only app that annoys me the most is the Dialer!! I haven't found a way of completely replacing it...and there hasn't been a G3 port for it yet either....as far as I'm aware of. Anyone has had any luck replacing it?
Exdialer for your dialing needs and this for the call screen.
Wow thank you revan17! This could actually work!

Both cloudy g3 1.0 and 1.1 are running perfectly fine. Give them a try. You may be surprised.

I already have I decided to take the leap yesterday with Cluody's G3 1.1, and after a full wipe and clean install I'm very impressed with the stability and performance..I haven't run into any bugs, FC or reboots for now..I'm even using Viper4android and Xposed with Gravity Box, G3 Tweaksbox Beta, with no problems, so I haven't lost any functionality either...I highly recommend anyone wanting to get rid of the ugly G2 stock UI to give it a try! But be sure to do a full wipe and follow Cloudy's recommendations regarding the bootloader and kernel.
btw. I have a D802
Thank you for the comments!
I don't look forward to root my G2 (since that "cloudy g3" is a ROM right?) and I also found that these dialer apps are very buggy and they don't replace the initial apps, they just overlap them (which I find bad).
Maybe I will wait for a 4.5 version, I don't know...

Yes, it's a rom. Is there any reason why you don't want to root? There's so much more potential you can squeeze out of your mobile by rooting it....and you can always unroot it and go back to stock if you're not happy or need to take it to warranty (as long as it's still functional of course).
I also had the same thoughts after starting to clutter my phone with mods and 3rd party apps to get a nicer UI and get rid of G2's stock one....I ended with apps overlapping and the UI looked fragmented..though nicer every app has a different style which isn't great for a seamless and fluid UI experience...plus the more apps and mods the more posibilities of running into bugs and errors.
That's why flashing Cloudy's G3 rom was the perfect solution for me [emoji106]

Well, the reasons I don't want to root right now are:
1) I rooted my previous phone alot of times and I have battery problems (HTC HD mini). I went back to the original ROM, and the service guy told me that I had flashed it and it shouldn't be on warranty.
2) I will probably wait for and 4.5 version. I don't want to do 10 roots in order to find the perfect one for me...
3) I don't have time right now to learn how to flash on Android (therefore this specific phone). I learned how to do it on Windows 6.5 so, I will look forward to it.
If there are any specific guides, I would be glad if you can link them to me

If they didn't accept it in warranty then you probably didn't set everything back to stock correctly There are plenty of guides explaining the process for the G2. And regarding the battery problems, on the contrary, you should probably get better battery life with a custom ROM as most of them get rid of LG's bloatware and useless apps which eat up battery and memory...and then you can even try different Kernels to further improve your battery life.
But for this you need time to read and get some basic knowledge on how an android system works, for example what Root is (from your post, I think you confuse rooting a phone with flashing a Rom), what's the Baseband, Modem, Bootloader, Custom Recovery, ADB, Kernel, Rom..etc Once you understand each of these terms and their function in the Android system it's very easy to get things done...and by using common sense it's actually quite difficult to completely **** up your mobile! But again...for that you need some time, and if you don't have that luxury, it will be more complicated..
Since we have the same model of the LG G2 (D802) I'll write you a quick step by step so you can have an overview of the process..and then read further yourself...but I won't take any responsibiliy if you run into trouble..
Thank you for the further information!
I will have some time after Monday so, I will try to look up all of those things you told me.
Don't get busy typing a guide for me, I am sure there are many guides out there and I can search for them
Thank you very much for the precious information!

ok, good luck! If you need any help just send me a PM.
Hey, for some reason I'm not able to respond to your PM, it's says you've either restricted the receipt of PM's or that you're not allowed to reveive them...so I'll answer you here.
-When you install a Rom, you "Flash" it (in PC terminology, it would be the equivalent of installing the Operating System, like Windows for example).
-The Kernel is a sort of "lower level" part of the operating system, which acts as and intermediary between the software and hardware. You can flash it (install it) independently from the ROM, but most of the Custom ROM's you'll find already have their own Kernel integrated, so you just have to flash the ROM. As an example, I'm using Cloudy G3 Rom which already came with it's own Kernel integrated, but I read in many posts that this other Kernel from Bruce2728 works very well (better battery life, faster, etc) with my LG G2 model D802 and Cloudy's G3 Rom, so after flashing Cloudy's G3 Rom I flashed Bruce2728's Kernel on top of it.
-Rooting is the process of gaining full privileges to the Android Operating System, so you can accces, modify and install anything you want (in PC terminology it would be the equivalent of upgrading from a restricted User account to an Administrator account)...normally, as long as you flash Custom Roms, you'll only have to root your device once. And as I mentioned you in my previous post, you can manually un-root your phone if you need to take it back for warranty for example, I never had to do it yet, but if it's ever necessary you can find guides explaining how to do it.

Enjoy.
Hi all.
New S7 Edge owner, coming from the Edge+. On that phone I had a major overheating problem after making a theme with Samsung Theme Editor - I posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=69298488
When trying my themes on my new phone, I'm not getting the same heat, but very high battery use - Edge screen currently 34% of the last 5+ hours.
I think my themes must be guilty, but no idea why - they're very simple, solid black backgrounds, a few icon changes and font colouring. All themes from the Theme Store behave fine.
Any advice? I really want to use the edge apps screen, don't need people or tasks edge. Obviously I can't greenify it. Just about to see what I can do with Amplify, but otherwise I don't know how to get that %age down.
Thanks in advance. 935F and the very wonderful Superman ROM.

And some don't. Which app, and how would that help? I know you mean well, but that doesn't address my problem.
This is a specific problem that can't be solved by any one-size-fits-all "battery saver".
I'm not a noob, I know that somehow the edge screen - aka cocktail bar service - isn't behaving. What I don't know is how to isolate and limit it while keeping full functionality - hence looking at Amplify.
If anyone is interested and/or has the same problem, the solution:
Don't install the theme directly to your phone (the "install to device" tab in Theme Editor.). Make the apk, transfer it to the phone and install from there. I used the M version, everything fine, no more edge screen wakelocks.
All credit to my new hero @envy~ for the fix?
try custom kernel, u can also try this new thing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/guide-double-battery-timing-t3491185

glad I helped, it's not really a fix, upon inspecting the apk of different resolutions I can confirm that the M version is for us s7egde users, because FHD resolution has some assests only for note7.
