Version 3. What are the changes?
Sent From My HTC Evo 4G On The Now Network From Sprint Using Tapatalk Pro!
Not breaking your WiMax? That sounds like a good feature. I think I even saw a commit for CMR to back up WiMax partition. Not entirely sure yet.
I keep getting an error when trying to flash to version 3? Error is generic......"There was and error when flashing your recovery"...
Thoughts?
Mine just flashed successfully. Was on an earlier version of cw previously. Does Rom manager have root privileges?
I installed it on my early 003 evo. And couldn't do a nand it attempted to but it would only do boot.img. same thing on wife evo

Same thing is happening to me. I saw a post somewhere stating the update isn't playing nicely with pre-004 hardware and a fix is on the way. Wish I could find that post again. Sucks, I was about to test out a new theme I've been slowly putting together.
I spoke to clockworkmod himself. He did state that it doesn't work proper on older hboots. He didn't mention anything about a fix, but I'm hoping there is a fix in the works.

I'm sure he will fix it. Otherwise he's cutting off most devs that use the ENG verison and a plethora of other users.

Worked AOK on my 97. I wonder what the common denominator is for those that it's not working for?
I got this while trying to flash recovery 3.0.0.0 "An error occurred while attemping to run privileged commands!"
I wanted to update here and say that while the update to the new 3.0.0.0 went smoothly, it does prevent flashing of zip's.
For you guys still having problems, just flash to the RA recovery, rename your zip to PC36IMG.zip, place on the root of your phone and flash zip from SD and you'll be off to the races.
I'm sure there will be an update to the new ClockworkMod but for now, to get the job done, Rom Manager will quickly and easily flash the RA recovery for you and get you on your way.
HTH
I just got a message that version 3.0.0.2 is available. Perhaps the flashing issue has been addressed already.

Disclaimer: While tested, and working on ECLIPS3's test device, this is a risky flash. Flashing this is at your own risk. If data or property loss occurs, its you fault, not mine.
The s-off spl allows you to use fastboot, and can make recovery of a "softbricked" device much easier.
Flash this like any other flashable file through recovery.
Nice way better than doing a battery pull when flashing the original root zip.

The battery pull method won't even work on phones with a newer mainversion, so yeah way better.

I was trying to flash my EVO to Boost mobile and this is where my trouble began. After I had went through the steps of flashing I had to reboot. Upon reboot I get a constant reboot. When I try to go to recovery it goes to the htc screen and then keeps rebooting. I have tried flashing clockwork...I have tried the PC36IMG.zip...I have tried many stock RUU's and none of them work. Has anyone ever heard of this because of flashing? I have a link to a vid I posted on youtube....

I just tried to flash a stock recovery...supposedly and it still didn't work. I'm thinking I need to get s-on but can't. I have to admit I'm pretty good at rooting and the whole rom thing but have never had a problem like this so I might be over my head. I thought I found a link to a stock recovery but maybe Im looking in the wrong place.
Hey trying to help my brother with his phone and I've never encountered this problem before.
He downloaded Rom Manager from the Market and proceeded to flash CWM.
After flashing I told him to use the "Reboot into recovery" in order to create a NANDroid back up.
His phone reboots and then gets stuck on an image of what he says is a "phone with a red exclamation mark."
I've checked with him and he says "fast boot" is off. His phone IS rooted.
Obviously this is the first time he's ever needed to use CWM.
I've never personally encountered this problem and I've rooted 10 (6 replacements for me and one for my wife, 2 for my brothers and one for their girlfriend lol.) MT4Gs and have installed custom ROMs.
If you guys have any suggestions or ideas PLEASE let me know.
Thanks a lot.
The forum search yielded some threads about turning off "fast boot" or maybe a bad flash.
I've had him reflash CWM. Still no luck.
Again, thanks for any help.
I'm assuming he's rooted right? With S-OFF? In any case, it seems that it's not sticking. One common mistake is that he might have accidentally denied the SU permissions while opening RM. So un install and re install RM and make sure you accept SU permissions.

Yeah Macky...he is rooted. I'll have him try it again. He did mention something about su.binary something or another.
I told him to update Superuser. We'll see if that helps.

Yeah try updating the latest SU and make sure he didn't deny RM. That's might be what happened. If not, try updating his CWM manually via terminal emulator, ADB or Fastboot.
Here's how to do that.
For clockwork recovery to actually work, you have to download rom manager and from within rom manager install clockwork first.
You just do not download rom manager and right away boot into recovery.

Whoa! Why don't we chill out a bit yea. I just mentioned it because some people think that just downloading rom manager and trying to boot into recovery that's how you flash the thing and get it working.
And I did read the whole thing and did read where you said rom manager got downloaded and prceeded to flash cwr. But you also stated you told your bro to press reboot into recovery. Which made me think he probably mistakenly, try booting into recovery before actually flashing it. I was just trying to cover steps to help you guys out.

I would say you need to specify more of what you're doing. I'd recommend installing Rom Manager, then in the Rom Manager app, do the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" (the app is in the market).
Then download whatever rom you want, like CM 7.1 and copy it over to your cf card. Then run the Rom Manager again, and tell it to 'Install ROM from SD Card'
Realize, as is always stated, I am not responsible if you brick your phone. Be very careful to ensure everything is done right.
Bad downloads sometimes abort. Have you verified the MD5 hash of any of the zips before you tried flashing? Also, what ROMs did you try?

Assuming you did everything else right, which seems likely since you got S off, this is the most likely answer.
It's also the easiest thing to try and fix because you can just redownload the ROM and try again with a fresh copy. And ROM's do get corrupted during downloads more often than you're think, so it's not unlikely that this is your problem.
Also, download it from the phone using Clockworkmod. Less chance of the file getting borked on the transfer to the SD card.

The downloaded rom should already be zipped, so no need to zip it. And if you need to zip them back up I think it has to be without compression.

Not being rude, just trying to help you get to the bottom of your problems.
Not sure exactly what happened. I was using the tablet and all of a sudden the bottom three buttons disappeared as well as the top bar. The system kept getting force closes. I rebooted and it just sat in the reboot mode. I tried to recover from the system but that is not working. I cant seem to get the system to mount via usb now. I am in clockwork mod v5.8.0.2 and do not see an option. If I could mount it I could put an img file back on and get it to work. Any help would be great.

You could try to flash back the stock software to see if that helps? Look here for some help.
Are you running a custom ROM or anything else? ALSO, once you do manage to get everything fixed, I would upgrade your CWM to the most current version 6.0.1.0 by flashing this in the older (5.8.0.2) version.
Sounds like it might be permission related, you could try a 'fix permissions' in recovery
