Imagio contact picture problems.

I have an HTC Imagio, and when I first got it, the contact pictures imported from FaceBook looked great. I have since wiped the phone a few times and reinstalled everything and now the photos look blurry and lame. I cant find any setting anywhere that seems to impact this. Any ideas?

Never mind I think I figured it out. I sync my contacts with Gmail, it looks like when the phone gets the piic from facebook its fine, but then active sync kicks in and sync's the contact then the pic resolution changes somehow

I've done more testing and its pretty obvious its a gmail thing. When I sync contacts with hotmail it works fine. As soon as I sync with gmail all the pics go to crap.

Just to confirm your theory Exchange activesync doesn't distort them. So must be gmail.

FYI I had this same problem when I synced with Outlook. I had contact pictures saved in Outlook and when I synced over to my phone they were all blurry. I had to replace them all and now I use MS Myphone to sync contacts.

i sort of have a simailiar issue.
When scrolling through contacnts they start out blurry but then when the icon changes to facebook they become clear. I am synced to Exchange with Activesync

ive had to flash my phone and it resync'd with outlook and all my contact pictures on htc hd2 (ALMOST 100 of them have pictures) are blurry..
is there a easy fix for this? or do i have to manually fix them all by searching my caller id pics on storage card?

I've the exact same question...

I thought this happened with just using gmail sync with outlook but it appears from your posts that it's an outlook issue. I tried shooting contact pics from the phone, setting the pics online, and same thing each time.
So I switched to syncing my contacts with MyPhone and they are nice and clear. No more blur

outlook defaults to 128x128 and I have yet you find a fix as I expect exchange servers will maintain there size also. to get your hi-res pics back you need to link them though sense again either manually or by facebook.
it might be worth a forum search to see if anyonI has found a fix

No fix to it.
Instead I just backup my contacts with pim backup, it's very easy and fast.
I do not update my contacts too much so I'm happy with that. It's worth it.

Finally fixed!!
I also had this problem, but now I finally found a way to fix this.
Install outlook 2010. Outlook 2010 has the automatic option to attach High Res contact pictures.
So what you need to do is:
- Install Outlook 2010
- Add your contact pictures again, and Outlook will put the High res version into your contact.

Low quality contact photo's?

When I check my gmail it syncs my contacts updates but then makes contacts pics on my phone low quality. Why? Anybody else with this problem?
Will it still do it if I upload pics from my computer to gmail then let it sync to my phone?
I keep my fav contacts pinned so when i scroll down it just looks like pics from a vga camera lol

unfortunately, this is the problem with contact pictures at gmail... for some reason when your phone syncronizes with your gmail account the contact photos are reduced in quality by google (I don't know, maybe google is saving on their server space? i really have no idea why) the only way to keep good quality contact images on your phone is to enter them into your phone each individually and store them under 'phone contact', not 'gmail contact'...

I have way to many #'s to do that lol I will just disable google syncing contacts until a fix comes or if I have to.

Syncing Facebook Pictures to Contacts

I had to do a master reset on my HD2 and have gotten everything back to the way it was and working fine EXCEPT that I am not able to sync Facebook pictures to my phone contacts. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it? Please share your expertise.

Am i missing something ? for some reason i cant get my facebook contacts (account) photos to synch up with my google /phone contacts and merge them together. previously on my HTC Evo this was done automatically and i had the option to sync all contacts, sync with existing contacts and this would allow peoples pictures to synch up properly. Is there something with the N4 thats different thats not allowing me to do that. thanks for the advice

This phone doesn't have native Facebook integration as do HTC phones, it's vanilla android after all. So its an issue with the Facebook app and eventually Facebook will fix it but don't hold your breath waiting for them they are slow. Most of my contact pictures synced up but I had some that refused to so I downloaded the app Contact Sync for Facebook and problem solved. This is the best sync app for Facebook I've seen.

I use HaxSync. It's also very good.
