guys,
i urgently need your help on this..
i was looking around in the diagnosis mode code and i may change something while i was looking at the setting and now i cannot send SMS.
i have tried to change everything back to normal but i failed.
please help me, how can i restore all diagnosis mode setting to the default setting or which setting i must change to get my SMS work again..
It's a bit of an obvious answer, but if you can't get it to work again, perhaps a hard reset would do the trick

Why don't you try going to the Settings > Applications (Swipe left) > messaging
Check the SMS center. This is not a device settings, it is stored on the SIM card and maybe it is removed

the SMS message center is fine, and i have already reset again.
Hi, I got similar issue. did you manage to fix your phone's SMS issue?
Sent from my OMNIA7 using Board Express
Perhaps this would help, go to main menu in diagnostic, choose common (6), and then factory test (7) and go to sellout sms (7) and turn on sms enable (1) and restart your phone

Hello!
I've purchased a Touch HD a couple of weeks ago.
But I have a problem with the notification on TF3D homescreen saying there's one new voicemail message.
When I call voicemail, listen to the message, delete it, the notification does not go away.
I've searched the forums, and the solution to call myself and leave a message and then delete it does not fix the problem.
Also a soft reset does not make it dissappear.
Is there a register hack to remove the message?
Or something else I can do to make it go away?
H.
this is a bug - mine is doing the same thing.
And there's nothing we can do to solve it?
H.
Not sure if this will help but I had the same problem with an old wm device. The trick was to listen to the message, delete it/save it then wait a couple of seconds before hanging up.
similar problems with my old hermes and the problem was to do with sms_providers.dll file.
I had to replace this file.
Do a search in hermes directory
I think this may be due to the phone not being correctly setup for the network. I've had this on other WM handsets after flashing the ROM - and sorted the problem by installing the correct settings for the network, otherwise I'd get these kind of problems and sometimes strange SMSs with control characters in them.
Try going to "Connection Setup" in Settings -> Connections and resetting to the correct network & country.
Hope that helps.

lol - of course its set up for the correct network. I made sure it was one of the first things I did!
Well, tried the solution with the sms_providers.dll change, but no luck.
Actually I don't think that was going to work anyway because I don't get weird text messages saying new voicemail.
That works just fine. The only problem I have is that it displays the 1 one voicemail message in between the call info and the calendar on my home screen. And what I try, it just won't go away.
I've also tried to reset the connection setting, but that didn't help also.
I'm going nuts about this!
Is no one else having this issue?
For your info, it's a dutch official rom version.
H.
Also when I leave myself 2 voicemails it still displays 1 new voicemail message.
It appears to be stuck.
Is there a registry setting for tf3d to remove this or something??
H.
Ok,
I've done a hard reset and the notification is gone now.
Hopefully it's not coming back anymore!
Thankz for all your help!

Okay, I just sent myself a voicemail and when I retreived it I deleted it and waited until the voice said deleted and then I pushed * to exit and now the notification is gone from my screen. I don't know if I had to do all of that but it worked anyways.
Registry Fix to Clear Voicemail Indicator
Using any registry editor go to the following keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/System/State/Messages/vmail/Line1/Unread
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/System/State/Messages/vmail/Line2/Unread
Display values and change Count value back to zero.
Worked like a charm!
HTC TyTN (a.k.a HERMES)
Windows Mobile 6.1 (CRC's ROM)
I copied all my contacts from the SIM card to the phone. Now I have them duplicated on my contacts list. I've search everywhere and can´t find a way for it not to display the SIM contacts. I installed a advanced configuration tool that has that option, but it automatically changes back to show sim contacts
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

Try this reg edit.
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\ShowSim: 1 change to 0

SIM contacts again
OK, but after turn off/on SIM contacts are visable again.
How, make them invisable permanently?
There isn't any option in menu to display only HTC contacts.
A big mess, I think.
you can use advance config tool
Hi ariana,
having the same problem.
Advanced Config Tool as well as editing registry directly do not work.
Specific registry entry is reset to 1 after reboot. And SIM Contacts still there...
Also tried Kaiser SIM Fix and Niki SIM Fix found here. Does not work either....
Very, very sad....
for me this is working very nice. i have 2 sims (vodafone and orange) and i'm changing both of them. and everything is ok.
How did you deact. SIM contacts?
Have you made any other changes (touch deact., other apps, etc)?
Perhaps the reason is somewhere in the start-up apps.
Just an idea.
I installed an app called iContact in my HTC Touch 3G, and is really useful, mimiking the iPhone. And obviously, you can ocult your SIM contacts. I recommed it!.
Only way is remowe manualy contacts from SIM, I think.

Yes, I gave up long time ago. I copied everything from the SIM to the PDA and then remove everything from it. It seems to be the fastest and simplest solution. Whenever I want to take the SIM out and use it on another phone, just copy the contacts back to the SIM using the built-in function.
has anyone found a better solution for this yet?
Hi.
Is there anyone that capable to redo a file like NikiSimFix.cab that works on Jade?
Thanks
With the Spb-Mobile-Shell you can hide SIM-contacts permanently.

I am not sure why it's not working on yours. On mine when I changed any registry settings and softreset, the changes stays there. For the settings HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\ShowSim: 1 change to 0, when I changed to 0 (and then softreset), the SIM contacts does not show anymore even after many many restarts/softresets.

If this is no solution for you, it is possible to write an mortscript and autostart it to set the registry-entries on every new start of the phone. For details you have to read here:

Hi
Try these:
1. Go to Settings - Connections - Advanced Network, select SMS Service tab and select "SMS over GSM Preferred".
2. If you still have problems:
Settings - Personal - Phone - Band, select GSM as your network type. (You lose 3G services though).
3. Another solution is to update to the latest RADIO (see ROM DEVELOPMENT section TOPAZ area) but first ensure you MUST have HARDSPL installed first otherwise you will damage your phone!
4. Lastly Hard reset your phone (Settings - System - Clear Storage) but backup pictures, data etc as this method will remove everything (except format memory card which you dont need to do).
Good luck!
Aussie
thanks for all that but it still wont work
Have you installed any programs that changes sms like Zenyee's disable HTC messaging? Only saying it as I installed that particular one and couldn't send sms until I took it back off. May be worthwhile going through the list of installed programs to see what you have.

Hi,
I have a Samsung Vibrant. As I'm in Australia, I was playing around trying to connect to another frequency via *#*#4636#*#* > Phone information. I set it to AUS and backed out (pretty sure that's all I did). Then I couldn't send any texts .... at all. Failed.
I switched back to Automatic frequency - no difference....
I have re-falshed the OS with Odin, both with the most recent 2.1 release and also with one that is supplied on the xda post "OFFICIAL T-Mo Vibrant JFD ODIN/Nandroid Backup Images" (I'm not allowed to post links) (I've still got this one installed right now). Both made absolutely no difference.
I deleted all user data... no difference.
Now I have a stock phone entirely, that will not send any text messages.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Andrew
I've noticed that SMSC is blank - I tried to set it to the right number: +61411990001, but it just returns 'update error'. So I tried 0411990001. It didn't 'do' anything, but didn't return an error. It disappeared when I backed out and came back in. it didn't fix the problem.
Is there a trick to updating the SMSC that I've missed? It seems likely to be the error??
there is also no information in 'Your Phone number', and I recall that the default way to access voicemail never worked because of 'no voicemail number on the sim card'...... does this all add up to my sim card not having the correct default information? Is there a way to fix this?
....help

Here are a few tips:
1 in mobile settings click apn and make sure there is a green circle on thee right of the name for your apn. If not just tap on the circle once and out should turn green.
2 in mobile settings, click automatic network discovery then try step 1 again
3 open mms app, press menu and go to settings. Make sure auto retrieve is checked.
Let me know if this works or not.

@crazy25000: Thanks heaps, that led me in the right direction to correct the texting issue. I had no apn at all - no options and had to add it manually. I'm not sure that it worked, but perhaps. I did get to the right settings menu to fix the smsc number though, which is great.
I still feel like my sim card is not quite right - there seems to be no default data for the carrier on the sim.
Immediate problem solved though. thanks again.
i have done the same thing while fiddling with my vibrant. sms wont send because the gateway # is blank . what i did was pop it in a friends iphone and type **5005*7672*61411990001#
(61411990001 is optus smsc # yours may be different)
then i put it back in my vibrant and viola!
altho i still cant send or recieve mms..

Glad to great it's slowly getting resolved. If you don't have an apn, click on automatic network discovery in mobile settings and it will automatically generate the correct apn for your carrier. Keep me posted because this it's relatively easy to resolve so don't stress

Hi there, in my new s7 edge,
when i was trying to send a premium sms text,
it said "do u want to send? YES NO" and bellow there was an option like "always remember".
i wanted to press YES and always remeber, but i accidentaly pressed NO and "always remember".
now there is nowhere i can find the spot to reset it back and i cant send that sms...
its not an ISP issue as when i try the same SIM to another phone, it sends it without problems...

I had the same issue and I had to factory reset because I couldn't find it anywhere. Very fristra5

I am having the same issue. This is absolute garbage that this cannot be reset. I do not want to hard reset my phone to fix this. It takes me hours to get all my apps back in place and everything logged in. If Samsung's back up saved where my apps go and how I like things customized I'd be a little more reluctant. There has to be somewhere in the phone to fix this Short code texting.
People with high Wi-Fi drain try this:
Backup and Reset -> Reset Network Settings
This will only reset WiFi password and Bluetooth and it did had a positive impact for me.
Not sure what Wifi drain has to do with this topic...
Default app manager pro can clear default apps and bring back the open with menu. Pretty sure the lite version can do this too.
Nope no defaults set anywhere
Has anyone found a solution except for factory reset?

It's an sms sent to a phone number to approve a charge. Kinda like a 900 call.

You could try settings > application manager > more > reset app preferences
Try this:
Settings > Application Manager > Find the app (most likely it would be Messages > Storage > Let it compute (which can take some time) > then CLEAR DATA. This might delete all your texts though (not 100% sure since I haven't tried)
Go to Settings / Applications / App Manager, scroll to the SMS app (Messages is the default SMS app), tap the app, tap Set as default, tap Clear Defaults.
That should do it. This is how you clear defaults for every app.
I just did the same thing. I bought my S7 today. But there is no premium sms setting in the phone. And I do not want to reset my phone. I gave my 3 hours for it
Any chance that this is under App Permissions? Ir simply install Google Messenger.
