Hi,
Is there anybody being succesfull in transferring the I-GO 2008 navigation software into Diamond Touch? I heard that it was possible and worked but I could not figure out how. I found in forums how to transfer the software to my PDA with Win mobile 5, but the same process was not succesfull with Diamond. My Rom is 1.93.479.3. The app would not finnish instalation and cannot be run after (it just would not start, though it appears in PROGRAMMS as if installed... Any advice?
Thanks.
Do you know why there is a search button in the upper bar?

you type postcodes in the CITY box mate
i've got full 7 digit postcodes in uk, BUT not for 2008.4 map only 2008.1
Igo8 will do 7 digit postcode
to get the 7 digit postcode search working in IGO8 do the following
1: download the postcode enabled map from here --> http://rapidshare.com/files/166750423/UnitedKingdom7PPC.rar.
2: after putting it in the map folder in your igo8.content/maps folder start the app
3: when running click find and in the box UNDER United kingdom, the one where you normally put the city put your post code, but (and this is important) you MUST put a space in it, eg DL17 2HR . if you try and put DL172HR you will only get as far as DL172 then it will jump to the 5 digit address.
I have this running on a Touch HD with full postcode search and it works a treat with 3D landscapes, looks very nice.
Have fun

Hi,
I've installed and using the IGO R8.3 with my Touch diamond device. Use this sys.txt file Should work.
I have onCourse, and it's working but voice doesn't seem to work at all.
Want to try iGo. However, don't know where to get the required cabs/files, etc. Any help?
Hi all -
Is there ANY legitimate (non-warez) software for the Diamond that has US maps?
Tomtom - Version 6 doesn't list Diamond as a supported device, not sure it does VGA resolution, Version 7 there's no legitimate source for US maps.
iGo - no US maps
CoPilot - no US maps
Route 66 - seems to require an SD card
Garmin Mobile - requires SD card
Ostia - requires SD card
I just want to legitimately use my Diamond for navigation, but having a hard time finding any options. I've searched through the forums, but had no luck.
Thanks in advance!

you sure about that? i have them on my tomtom7 and they work perfect (aside from missing some new construction)

My Diamond came with Route66 on a DVD. However I needed to contact the supportdesk since i couldn't install it using the standard setup. They emailed me how to install it without using the setup.exe; search this forum or google and you find instructions how to install route66 on your diamond.

Why don't you just copy the contents of the SD card's maps to your phone's Internal Storage? That's what I did and I've been able to use both TomTom and now OnCourse Navigator (iGO) 8.

Hi Ewans -
Thanks for your reply. I had a couple questions if you dont mind:
I have Tomtom 6 on my old P3600. I'm guessing you purchased a Version 6 DVD and used that to load up your Diamond.
- Does TomTom 6 support the Diamond's VGA resolution?
- When you loaded it on your device, did the TomTom Home software recognize your device? If not, did you have to select a device from a list and which device did you select?
- I'm pretty sure TomTom stopped supporting the Ver. 6 maps. It's a bummer but I can live with it. Can you confirm your experiece / have you been able to update your maps?
Thanks!!!!

Hi ND -
Is OnCourse a part of iGo? The reason I ask is because the OnCourse site lists US maps, but the software is apparently only capable of 320 x 240 (QVGA) resolution, while I think iGo 8 is capable of full 640 x 480 (VGA). If I could use the iGo 8 with the OnCourse US maps, that would be a good solution.
Were there any issues with just copying the SD data to your device? Others such as Garmin have required all sorts of finagling to get them to work such as keygens and such, and I really want to avoid any of that.
Thanks!
Mike
TomTom
Just to add another older version, I run TomTom 5 on my Diamond in the USA with no problems at all.

You can definitely get US maps for iGo (i'm running it), but I'm not sure of the legality of it, so it's probably best not to discuss it here.

Hi Nomer -
I like the Garmin software, especially since it has nautical maps available. However, I read elsewhere that the SD card version can't be used with our phones because there is an internal code that prevents their software from being used without the SD. Since I don't want any keygen or other cracks, I don't think this is an option. Anything I do I want to have be fuloly supported by the company and their service department.

Yeah, OnCourse is the name for iGo in the United States. You can use the maps from one for the other since it is the same. For copying the contents, the only problem I ran into was that it couldn't find the directory where the maps are located. To overcome that, you'll need to do a search of the Diamond thread, but the most important thing is to change a certain config file so that it reads from the Internal Storage instead of SD.
Good luck!

My version of TT6 was on an SD card. I just changed the communication mode on the TD from Activsync to USB and connected it to the PC. Then put SD card in card reader and copied all files over. When I unplugged the USB lead TT automatically started to instal (that got me panicing a bit!). Went through normal installation, got correct code from TTcodes and it installed and automically found the internal receiver.
No new version 6 maps coming out, but plenty of old ones still for sale from TT - I bought one for Southern Africa a few weeks ago and could not find any errors in it when I used it when driving around Western Cape province on holiday.
TT6 works fine with the VGA screen - but everything is smaller - I find I now use 3D view rather than 2D I used to as that comes up bigger (as it does on all screens)
Another poster here today says when he installed TT Home 2.5 and plugged in his TD it automatically offered him a free copy of TT7.9 along with demo map. Still have to buy version 7 maps but they are more up to date than version 6 - although there have been lots of reports of them still not showing changes in roads.

Landshark - at the moment TT are not listing any maps for US or Canada for TTN7 - presumably because no legal version of that is available there. Strangely they do list maps for Mexico and Brazil!
In reality the price quoted for those (presumably Version 6) maps seems expensive - you can download US & Canada maps (version 6.75) direct from TT website for $70.
How do I install TomTom on this phone? I have tried to install from a cab file that I used successfully on a Touch Pro but the installation fails on the Touch2 reporting the application as incompatible.
Can you please point to a TomTom cab file that works with WM6.5?
Even better if it is a version where I can activate a free local map as in fact that's all is need on this phone....
Thanks.
There are certain sources that provide QVGA cabs, google is your friend.
The QVGA version easily found googling has problems with WM6.5: it screws the Bluetooth stack.
Ah that explains why my bluetooth isnt working anymore, well Navigation is more useful then bluetooth for me.

Do this and both bluetooth and tomtom will work.
i didn't have a problem with tomtom 7 installing on the htc touch 2 aka mega.
I even got it working with my external gps. so bluetooth doesn't stop working with my cellphone. I will try tomtom 7 + bluetooth external GPS + Bluetooth earphone this evening to test if even that will work
After installing TT7 just delete these 2 files BtSdkCE30.dll & BtCoreIf.dll from Windows directory. Bluetooth stack will work again
Touch2 Tomtom screenshot
Can any post a screenshot of Tomtom on the Touch2 please.
I'm thinking of buying this phone but i'm afraid the screen will be too small for tomtom.
Would be much appreciated.
From the small test i did, it works fine although it seems to suffer a small lag, it remembered my previous diamond, ...
Here a screenshot i've take inside my home, for me the visual it's good ( not awesome but still good )
Good enough to use. Bought this phone. Loving it more the more i use it.
Thanks for the trouble making the screen. xx

You can make the visual map screen bigger by selecting less elements in the statusbar....I use only remaining distance, arrival time and speed.....
Also the colorscheme you use makes quite a difference in visibility...can recommend you "default contrast" for the day and Vapno for the night. Via TomTom website many many schemes available.

Trouble installing Navigator 7
I have a Touch 2 with Windows 6.5 and recently bought Tomtom Navigator 7 on a memory card from Handtec. I had trouble getting it to install so here are my notes & instructions which I hope will help others in future.
The Tomtom web site says that the Touch 2 is compatible with Navigator 7 but when I tried to install the software it said my device was incompatible with the version of software. Strangely, given that Navigator 7 is supposed to be new, the newest “modified” date of any of the software on the memory card is June 2009, more than a year ago.
I logged a question with Tomtom support after logging into my account on their web site. After asking me to send them a copy of my invoice for purchasing Navigator 7 they said there was a software update ttn7.zip which I could download from the web site. The support response was very prompt – less than half an hour – but their installation instructions were poor and it took several rounds of questioning to figure out what actually had to be done.
I had copied the contents of the Tomtom memory card on to my own card. The correct instructions for the update are as follows:
- with ttn7.zip downloaded from Tomtom and on the PC, click on it in Windows Explorer to display the contents.
- This is a folder called ttn7. Click on it again in Windows Explorer to display the contents.
- You will see two items – start.exe and a folder called “2577”
- Delete the existing folder “2577” on the memory card (which had been copied from the Tomtom memory card earlier
- copy the new “2577” folder from the Tomtom download on to the memory card so it takes the place of the old “2577”
- there is no need to copy start, exe as a version with the same date is on the memory card
- With the Touch 2 off, load the memory card
- Power the Touch 2 on.
- During the power up process the Tomtom software will auto-install
- Worryingly my Touch 2 gave the same old warning message that the device is incompatible with the version of the Navigator but the installation process ignored this and carried on.
- Tomtom will prompt for the usual installation questions including the activation code that came on a sheet of paper with the memory card
- From now on it’s a case of answering the questions and configuring the various options to taste. Navigator 7 seems to work fine although I haven’t taken it out in the car yet.

There is may be a workaround here but i don't know about it. Officially Tomtom home won't support HD2. But use a t7.915.cab will be the easiest way to install Tomtom in the HD2 and it works great. You can find this cab file also here in xda. Just search

is there any possibility with windows xp, so it means, with activesync instead of mobile device centre.

Try tomtom home 1.5. I'm sure this works but will try and check and post reply.

TomTom Home 1.5 on XP does work with HD2 but there is no map share and you can not download anything. All it does is recognise the handset.
P.S. If you have active traffic subscription, you don't need to connect your HD2 with TomTom home to update traffic. Just enter your account details in to the MY ACCOUNT section in TomTom software on your handset and enjoy!
TomTom Home does'nt currently support HD2 so we need to wait for an update. I notice in your SIG that you have a touch Diamond,If you still have it, You can update the map on your Diamond and transfer the 4 files needed to HD2 (MapServerPatch,ServerLineIndex,ServerNameIndex,PatchFilter)

These are the files placed in your map folder by TomTom home, used for the mapshare updates. You can tell by the dates on the files, eg. if you update the map today, those 4 files will be dated todays date. If you copy them over to your HD2 Map then you will have the latest mapshare update.
I can install Tomtom Navigator 6 on my HD2 up to the point that the cabs are moved onto my SD card (16GB) and the card is installed. At that point the cab installs successfully and TomTom opens a setup screen, which seems to ask the interface language and left/right hand preferences. But this screen is scrambled (wrong resolution) so it's impossible to enter a response and it locks up. Has anyone got a work-around for that?
Strangely, that happened the first time I installed on the TyTnII; but then I was able to make out enough to press the right buttons and it worked fine after that.
Tomtom version 6 or 7
I tried to install tt6 - installation from cab without problems - but cannot open the program. Installed tt7.915.916 black, but it cannot recognize my maps from Western europe or Scandinavia - and installation was not possible on SD card.
I bought a licence from TT (version 6) and the programme was running very well on my HTC 3300. Are someone able to solve that problem ?
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610864
I know this is not the real key forum for Navis but I thought I give it a try as my prob could be related with the OS.
And I know this device is not in the compatibility list for TomTom Navigator 7 but usually the TT Navi7 works on Win 5 and Win 6 devices.
I have:
- an HP ipaq (model hw6915) with
- Windows Mobile WM 5 (searched this forum for a Win 6 ROM and it looks like some smart guys are currently working on that so I could not yet give it a try with Win 6)
According to the ipaq user manual, the device has this GPS receiver installed:
- GL20000 from Global Locate. In case a manual setting is required for a software, the ipaq manual mentions to set it to COM 7 and a BAUD rate of 57600.
Here is my problem:
I had installed Navigator 6 and it worked fine – but with outdated maps as the new maps require Navigator 7. So after some years of using the old Navigator 6 I installed now the TomTom Navigator 7.917.9186 plus the recent Europe 2GB maps.
The new Navigator 7software starts fine and accepts the new map, but it does not recognize the internal GPS antenna. I receive the message “no GPS devide”. Then I tried a bit and switched (in TomTom Navigator settings) from the “internal” to “other NMEA GPS receiver” and tried different Baud rates. With this setting the Navigator does receive GPS signal – once in a while (1 signal about every minute – just enough to locate the current position but not enough to really navigate).
So obviously the Navigator 7.x does not get correct GPS signals from the built-in antenna (while the older Navigator 6 always did).
Oh and I tried a free utility called GPS Proxy, which copies GPS signals from the inernal antenna to another (virtual) COM port, and I configured TT Navigator 7 to read out from that virtual COM port the GPS proxy is sending its data to. No success.
Any idea how to solve that problem?
Once again, I know this is not the right forum for Navigation software but I thought I give it a try....
sometimes ago on my hw6915 i used the 7.910 version without problems.
try to use this version.
regards,
Sold
Thanks Soldato. Tried the the 7.910 version again but same result - except that in addition to the problem the phone´s speaker gets de-activated. Somehow this speaker problem can be overcome by deleting/replacing a certain file in the Windows folder (I had tried the 7.910 version already half a year ago and I found out how to switch on the speaker but forgot what I did....)
Hmm. Also no loader or converter etc. seems to exist that would allow using the newer TT maps with the older (but working) Navigator 6 software.
Looks like I will keep my ipaq hw6915 in the box for a while till a GPS-supporting WM 6 version can be found.
i can try!!
can u send your tomtom soft, n charts, i have hw6915

Ähm sorry if I might look stupid, but how can I delete a single dll file from the Windows folder? I tried in Active Sync and directly from the ipaq file explorer but can neither replace nor rename nor delete it. And was also not able to change the file parameters.
using file explorer tap on 'show all files' to see the dll or try "total commander" file manager (needed for wm2003se)
