It would depend on her camera settings. She might have the resolution set to low therefor creating poor pictures.
well its the same thing when i send her a picture from my phone to hers. my camera settings are set to high resolution too...

What are your MMS settings?
Messages>Settings>Maximum message size? I have mine at 1000K
Check to see if yours is set lower and try raising it.
Also, try going to Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names and make sure those are set like the image below. If not, menu then reset to default.

Not that I can think of. If your settings are correct then everything under advanced should be ok.
I have the same issue, but what i noticed is, like Windows mobile if the picture is to big you can compress it, but unlike windows mobile android does it automaticly and you cant select to which level you want to compress it (low, high, medium, 1024*768 ect...) so its turning a pic thats about 1MB in size to about 60-70KB. is there a way to edit the level of compression?

That is due to ATT network only being able to handle 600k max. Anything over that will get that error.

I have the Tilt 2 on ATT. I have the same problem as the picture posted above. On my original Tilt a MMS picture would take up the entire screen. On this new Tilt it is so small I can barely see it. Would love a way to make the picture maximize on the screen. It seems wasteful to have such a large screen now but can't see what was sent to me. Also, I am currently running the stock ATT rom but thinking about changing.

Try this .cab http://thewingster.com/Documents/MMS Size Increase.cab
As far as I know it should work on all ROMs. I have a T-Mo US TP2 and it worked on mine with a couple different ROMs that I have tried.

that's to increase the limit of 300 to 1000. which i always install after flashing a new rom and that doesn't make the picture any bigger.

how!? in opera mini you have the option to select image quality. I can't find this option in opera on hd2. To me, it seems like it is set to medium.
Registry tweak?

I did mate, can't find anything to do with increasing the image resolution. Only thing i found was increasing the resolution of the 'back' thumbnails, which i've done
try this thread:

I think he's referring to something that was discussed a while ago, but I can't find the link right now.
Basically, it looks like it's your network provider compressing images for bandwidth reasons. If you find an image that looks a bit pap and then close Opera, start wifi, open Opera again, clear the cache and then look at the image again it will look better.
No way round this was ever found as this was obviously in the hands of the network provider (that's if it's the same issue).

Opera Mini has this setting because the content is read and converted by their servers to reduce size and suit your screen. Opera Mobile downloads the "real" images from the web itself, so there's obviously no setting, you get the images how they were posted, or how they're delivered to you by your provide if they do something like mentioned before.

It may only be HTTP traffic that's getting compressed, and the facebook app is more than likely connecting on a port other than the usual HTTP port (80). I don't know that as a fact, but as a developer it's what I consider a sensible guess!
It seems to be specifically HTTP requests for JPEG files that are affected by this. You'll notice that PNG images aren't affected in Opera, while JPEGs are affected in both Opera and IE. Skyfire dodges the problem, naturally. There is actually a setting in Opera that is supposed to have this effect: it's called Turbo Mode and is accessible via opera:config in the user preferences section. But we all get this problem with it turned off (which is the default) and if the same thing happens in IE then clearly it's not an Opera issue. You get the same problem in Opera 10 beta as well. Turning turbo mode on or off has little effect as the opera turbo compression is indistinguishable from what the network does by itself.

Edit:
If I invert the wifi aqcuired image and set the transparency to 50%, when I put it over the image from the original data connection there is quite a lot of pixelation, but when I put it over the one I got with the new data connection it's pure grey, which is what I'd expect with an exact duplicate. Basically, the above fix does give uncompressed images.
Good times
Interesting. I wonder if there's a similar trick for T-Mobile?
Does this apply to turbo mode too ?

Yes mate.
Go to the settings tab, menu, all settings, connections, connections, advanced (tab), select networks and click 'edit' in the section that says "programs that connect to the internet..."
Next, since we don't want to overwrite your existing internet connection settings, click 'new'. Call it something relevant (if you wish), change the modem to 'Cellular Line (GPRS)' and click next.
Set 'Access name' to mobile.o2.co.uk and click next.
Set username to bypass and password to password then click finish.
You're then given a choice of connections to use for the internet. Select the one you just created and click OK a few times to get out.
There is one problem I've noticed with this thought. I couldn't use my wifi until I switched back to the other connection. I can't see why this would be the case, but it was.
Hope that helps mate

Hi friends.... all fine?
i have a problem with my Desire hd .... a display problem... i have the AUO display
When I turn the screen (I remove him from stanndby) appears for a moment a vertical strip. Then he goes immediately away
this occurs only when the brightness of the display isn't set at minimum.. if the brightness is set to maximum or minimum it happens ...if the brightness set at minimum it will NOT happen
here is the video .. so you can look what is the problem
look the video
i have the original rom froyo 2.2 ... software 1.32 ... and i have make a format ... now i don't know what to do...
help me please... and sorry for my bad english
sorry, I can't help you with your problem, but in my opinion that looks like a hardware defect. I'd bring it in for a repair simply to prevent this issue from turning into something worse.
On another topic: to improve visibility of stuff like that, you should set your camera to manual exposure. Also, y did you film your phone, play that video on your computer and then film your computer screen?

are you sure it doesn't happen or could it be that it happens, you just can't see it (as the line would be darker or maybe some other effect that delays the backlight-on until the line already disappeared, or ...)?
Another way to eliminiate a software problem: just turn your phone off and back on, does the vertical line appear or not? (at that time there should'nt be a lot of software loaded that could mess with this)

no no ... I think the problem is related to the fact that it is caused when the cell has to raise the brightness as I have set this
if I put the brightness to a minimum the display does not give that problem powering up
so i think that the brightness case the problem and not the switching on
any supportfor me please?

If you go to contacts, selected one and than change picture, you select a good resolution picture from your sd card and confirm, this way the pics won't be blurry. That was the solution on the x10, which had the same problem. Don't know if its the same with arc, as mine will be delivered today, but the problem of blurry contacts sounds very familiar.

I can confirm this.
Original sync -> bad picture
manual set the picture -> good image
This is a real pain in the ass... but since there is no solution since the x10 (at least none that i've heard of...), I think we'll have to deal with this.
Only way out might be a way to change the dialer and contacts app. Is someone already looking into this??

exactly what i was looking for.. thanks buddy!!
can you also post incoming call screen?
the issue isn't caused by SE or Android... it's simply because the images held on facebook are small thumbnails.. so when they're stretched to our screen it's quite pixellated.
I might try putting a higher res image on google for one of my contacts and see if that syncs well.

Hi all,
Under the Quick Settings pull down menu, the first button is the User Account. It shows the user's name and profile picture(if there is one). I've associated a picture with the user profile; but a while later, even after I removed/deleted the picture, the picture still shows up under the Quick Settings pull-down. My question is, is it possible to have the icon revert back to the default android user icon(below)?
