I had installed Axura 2.0.6 and Voodoo Lag Fix.
I noticed my GPS was no longer working so disabled the Voodoo lag Fix.
It was causing me problems, without knowing i decided to ODIN my Vibrant while Voodoo was still installed. After a long period of a Black screen of death and various problems. I got it finally but my wifi wasnt working buttons were inverted wouldnt recognize my sim card and i couldnt mount the phone. I attempted to do a data wipe but was unable to saying it was denied. I have no idea what to do and ive been up for hours. I am on Windows Xp and im just going crazy. Im attempting to use adb but my knowledge with adb is minimal as well. Please can anybody please please help me.
This is why I hate voodoo. Not that this happens, but because nobody reads up on how to fix it. Download eugenes froyo that doesnt brick from the bible sticky. Click repartition in odin and flash it. Then flash to regular jfd with repartition unchecked.

1. Do exactly what he said. Use 512.pit
2. For god's sake please don't install a lagfix unless you are 100% sure it's compatible with the ROM. READ the description of ROMs.
3. Please post in the right forum next time.
Well
It didnt work.
The applications i had are still there
i still dont have access to my phone
wipe data failed.
no internet at all even after putting back apn settings

Did you check repartion when you load the pit file?
After you've repartitioned it, did you UNCHECK the box and then load JFD?

Try this if all else fails. And please be very careful with any lagfix next time. It's dangerous to mess around if you don't know what it does to your phone.

Did you flash the JK2 rom or Eugene's froyo that does not brick? JK2 won't work.

And I forgot: don't check re-partition when flashing Eugene's froyo. Check it when flashing JFD. You will get an error message after flashing froyo that does not brick. That's normal.
Yay
I finally got it to work.
Thank you guys and have a good day.

Hi everyone, I decided to finally root and flash to axura today. I saw the one click vibrant root link today and did that one successfully. I did some searching and ended up with Austiclees instructional video.
My phone is currently rooted and after downloading Axura 2.0.6. I loaded it onto my internal sd. I downloaded the newest clockwork and when i click install from sd card it seems to be working. However, the screen just goes to android system recovery and I'm stuck having to choose between reboot now or reinstall packages. I'm very frustrated right now and was wondering how to get Axura to actually install..
BTW I did not root from one click lag fix.. I hope thats not the problem.. Any help would be appreciated PLEASE!!!
I just flashed onyx on my vibrant like a day ago.
When you have the rom on your phone you go to rom manager install clockwork i cant remember if you need to restart... after that you click reboot into recovery ...
wait for the prompt to come up and choose to reinstall packages the phone will reboot and open another prompt (you may have to repeat this step if you didn't get into clockwork recovery just click reinstall again.)
Once you are at clockwork recovery you choose install from sdcard and navigate to your rom.

The way you rooted is not an issue.
Click reinstall packages that should take you into cw recovery. Sometimes you have to click twice. Once in Cw recovery scroll down to install zip from sd card, then click choose zip from sd card. After that click on your chosen rom, let it do it's thing and when it brings you back to Cw screen click reboot now. Then enjoy your new Rom.
thanks guys... i figured it out... for anyone with the same problem, I just clicked reinstall packages twice; which put me into clockwork recovery. And for anyone deciding if they want to root and flash or not, let me just say axura's rom on the vibrant is undescribably wonderful. I love not having to reboot when I go to gallery, wifi problems are non existant, as for gps, I haven't tried yet but will be most likely flawless.
thanks ironlood and icandy...
sigh, why didnt i do this before -_-
No prob .. I was actually thinking about flashing Axura in a week or so ... just watcheda video that showed absolutely no lag

For me and my setup, Axura has been the best, and I tried most. I don't think you even need Voodoo lag fix kernel, I just could not resist. Stick with plain Aura 2.2 for now. It's smooth like butter.

Yeah I have read a few guides on Odin but the program itself is still hard for me to understand.
There needs to be a wiki or something that has a entire glossery for the program's terms.

I am looking to flash the KA6 Voodoo kernal to my Vibrant (This One). I was told to flash with SGS Kernal Flasher, but in the kernal post, she references CWM. I have never used either. Should I go with one or the other, or it doesn't matter? Also, what do I do (yes, I will search also), copy the file to the SD and tell it to run, or what?
Thanks...
I have never used sgs kernel flasher to flash a kernel, only to backup an older kernel. Its a newer app and clockwork is still the far more used.
From her instructions I would use clockwork to flash it.
Download and flash with clockworkmod, its safe to flash with voodoo enabled (I did several times tonight.)

Good enough for me. Thanks a lot...
*Edit: How do you flash? Do I place it in the MicroSD root, or the phone root? And then do I just run it? Need to rename, etc?
Thanks
It doesn't really matter they are both very similar. The only difference being with sgs kernel flasher you can back up your current kernel in case you don't like the new one. it also easier to use since it's just an app.

So, using SGS, how do I flash it? Do I copy the extracted .zip to the SD, or do I put the uncompressed .zip somewhere, and if so, do I rename it? Not sure where to go from here...
leave it as the zip you dl, put it in the root of your internal SD card, flash.

Its going. It's been sitting on the "Google" screen for 4-5 minutes now, and a robot voice talks every little while, although I can't tell what she's saying...
So... It did that for a while, shut down and rebooted, now is a blank screen and just vibrating a little every 2-4 seconds... Is this expected, or am I F***ed?
Help! So, I went through flashing this kernal. The phone went to the Google screen, a robot voice said something every so often, then it rebooted. It looked as though it went through the Samsung screens, then went blank. For maybe 10+ minutes now, it has been blank, the phone is giving small vibrations over and over every 4-5 seconds, and the menu/home/back/search lights are on...
What do I do? Do I let it go, or do I pull the battery and restart...? Help!
Sounds like you have a bootloop of sorts. You will need to odin to stock then reflash the rom and kernel.
Don't worry, your fine. Sorry this happened to you the first time around, but it does from time to time. Did you make a Ti backup or nandroid backup, doubt the latter as you were not sure about clockwork.
Checkout the stickies for help with odin. Will reply more when I get home.

Hello all, I'm basically freaking out as I just got my Samsung Galaxy Continuum within the last 24hours and already managed to screw it up. I used superoneclick to root the phone with no issues. I then got Titatnium Backup and enabled the chuck norris thing to freeze bloatware. I rebooted the phone and now it says Samsung lights up the intro screen and then after that I can't see ANYTHING. Please if anyone can help I'm moving to Seattle in 2days and this will be my only source of info/communication till my things arrive 10days after me. I NEED this to work : /
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate the quick responses, I'm honestly losing it the phone was a gift and here I am mucking it up. I would like to keep it rooted as my last phone was and never had an issue. I think the issue was somewhere with the Titanium Backup Mod. Is there anychance you could link me to this odin flash program you speak of? I'm very new to this and confused, would rather not make this problem worse. Thanks again!
Ok I have downloaded Odin3, now I just need to know how to use it and with what files to get my Continuum working again. I tried to read through some posts but everyone is so confusing >.<.
Ok so I think I did it in the correct order but, I'm still not sure I'm so lost. I go Odin3 and the .pit file for the continuum and the .tar file for CWR. I put into recovery mode or whatever with the little android guy digging, and then ran the odin program. It said it was succesful and passed but, when it rebooted itself it's the same deal. It loads up and then halfway through the intro screen it freezes and turns the screen off while the sounds finish with there little jig. I've tried to call my cell from another phone and it's acting as if it's turned off.

can you still get into recovery?

VooDoo convert takes a long time. Have you tried to wait it out?
Hello I too have prob. I flashed clean rom then tried to restore my nandroid backup but it says error mounting system and I cant now wont go past samsung no matter what I try?
Go to the link below. The only problem is the one-click unroot has a peculiar side-effect: it will make you believe your Continuum is invincible, and you'll try all sorts of crazy stuff with it!
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/one-click-unbrick-for-samsung-phones-having-odin-guide/
I forgot to mention, you need to be in download mode. Remove the battery, and hold the vol- while inserting the usb cable until the screen indicates that you're in download mode. I hope this helps!
Ok I got it to boot into clean rom again but along the way I did a system wipe so my question is how to restore backup and get apps/data back? What was I doing wrong? I have titpro and nandroid backup saved and copy of sd card on my laptop so any help is appreciated...

A nandroid backup isn't going to be much help without root. If you have it, get rooted, and flash adrynalyne's framework and cwm. Then you should be able to restore.
Ok...so I need to reroot? This why I wanted to restore it in 1st place. Su is installed and it opens from appdroor but says bin needs update but the zip wont work that it dl's to my sd? I thought root was included on clean rom? Or do I have to SOC again?

You might have to SOC again. Alternatively, if you really need it, I have a DL17 ODIN bone-stock rom, both rooted and unrooted, and if push comes to shove, I can upload it and post it here.
The yellow CWM uses edify which to my understanding is only useful for 2.2 and above. You wont be able to install any zip files designed for 2.1 or before. You need the cyan version of update.zip which will allow you to reinstall the stock rom software. Send me a PM and Ill email you the proper update.zip file if you need it.

This is a case of "I have no idea what I'm doing. I shouldn't have messed with crap I don't understand."
I have an Epic 4g that I've rooted previously and, using Odin, installed a custom ROM (forget which one). Yesterday, I attempted to flash Legendary ROM, following the directions in the How-to video linked in the Legendary post. I have an earlier version of CWM (v2.5.1.0 if that makes a difference) than what was on the video. I wiped the data, the Dalvik cache, and the battery stats before I began the flash.
The flash consisted of downloading the zip file of the ROM to my phone, booting into CWM, and installing the zip file from the SD card. The screen said that it installed correctly, but I got an error "E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log". When I went to reboot, it got stuck at the Samsung screen permanently.
I tried to flash again the same way - same thing happened. I read on a forum post somewhere that the SD card partition may not have enough space to flash the ROM, so I partitioned my SD card. Yup, I'm that dumb. Now, when I boot it up, it goes to the Samsung screen for a few seconds, then directly to CWM screen. It even goes to CWM when I plug the phone in without turning it on.
I've searched the forums here and elsewhere for this problem and specifically the error message (E: Can't open ...) and can't really make heads or tails of anything. The replies are over my head as far as my knowledge of my phone and these processes. I don't know what the exact problem is nor how to fix it. If you could help an idiot through the steps, I would greatly appreciate. If you live around the Philly area, I could offer you $50 to fix my phone and install the Legendary ROM.
Thank you for your time in reading this.
as long as it turns on and you get some kinda life you are still good couple things you can try
1 since you are on a older version of CWM wipe data 3 times cache 3 times and dalvic 3 time then try installing your ROM again give it a shot wont hurt anything
2 if that doesnt work you will have to Odin back to stock and re-root...i know it sounda like a pain in the ass but its the best option ill find you a how to for this if you need it

doing the 3 wipe on older versions is just to ensure you completey wiped everything on some older versions it was mandatory to do it 3 times i believe because not all info would be cleared resulting is bad flashes

Its not bricked if it turns on! And you don't have to wipe 3 times... only 1 time each on all 3 things! Update your cwm and try to flash again, if that doesn't work odin to stock and start over... this time don't use an old version of cwm use the newest (5.0.2.7)

I don't really know how to get the stock ROM back on there with Odin. Is there a stock file I could download somewhere, or would the file still be on my phone? A how-to would be helpful if you could provide one.

The link i sent you has everything Toadlife put together awesome packages for us
doing the 3 wipe on older versions is just to ensure you completey wiped everything on some older versions it was mandatory to do it 3 times i believe because not all info would be cleared resulting is bad flashes
On the other had Biggoron is good at what he does and he really can fix your pohone remotely hes a good guy you can trust him.... i think in this case it might be the way to go and im sure he will explain to you everything he is doing

Just so you know, bricked isn't unfixabe... I have unbricked a couple epics... it involves a jig and hooking directly to the motherboard... kinda complicated but doable... so no a brick is not unfixable...

That's the file you'll have to use with Odin to flash your phone back to stock 2.2. That file will go in the PDA slot of Odin. Don't bother with a PIT or repartitioning (probably not needed in your case).
Once you boot with stock 2.2, let the phone OTA to EI22 and EL30 to get to stock gingerbread with the updated modem. From there you can start the root/rom flash process again.

Thank you all for your help. Man, you guys are awesome! I'm going to try to reload stock using Odin this evening. If I'm unable to do this, I'm going to get Biggoron to help me via teamviewer.
Thank you all again. It seems that the only way I'm able to learn about things is by breaking them.

Dont sweat that... most of it is all through trial and error. Truthfully, that's how I really got to know my phone better and the stuff I can do w/ it. That and this community. That's why trying a new rom isn't no big thing. If it doesn't take... it doesn't take. That's why we have "nandroid backup" and in "bad" situations, we have ODIN...

Welcome to the Sponge club and also the halls of Asgard to visit Odin or heimdall.
It worked!
I was able to successfully set my phone back to stock 2.2 and just received the OTA updates.
Before I left work last night, my wife called and told me that I locked the cat in the office the night before and she chewed up the USB cable for the phone (I'm so "internet"). I stopped at the Sprint store on the way home and got a new USB cable. I was using Odin for the process, following the video, using my new cable, and Odin couldn't see my phone. The guy in the video was completely right about Sprint/Samsung cables being crap. The chewed cable was originally from a Blackberry. I tried the chewed cable, having to hold it stretched out and tilted to the left, and Odin saw my phone. It went smoothly from there, though my arm got a bit sore.
When I get a chance within the next few days, I'm going to root and try again to install Legendary.
You guys are fantastic. Thank you all for your help. It's obvious that the people here know a lot about this stuff, but it's especially great that you're able to explain this stuff to people who don't know much at all. That's a talent.

Replace that cable ASAP, if you had lost connection in the middle of Odin'ing to stock you could have really bricked your phone! You might need to use Odin again soon..when learning my phone I had to Odin to stock probably 15 times, especially when you start flashing between MTD and BML ROMs (if you don't know what that is, just keep reading on here you will figure it out soon)

I have a good cable that I'm planning on using, I just left it at work last night. I'll read up on those types of ROMs. Thank you.
