[Q] Dual boot from SD card? - Epic 4G General

I have a froyo/htc sense rom on my HD2 that I use to boot from the sd card, and I love it to pieces. I'm wondering if I can load a rom onto my sd card for my epic and just boot it from there. Will I be able to do this without rooting?

This had been asked a couple of times do far with me being the first one to ask. A search would have provided you with an awnser.
is it already done? No
Is it possible? Yes
Is anyone working on it? No

I just bought 2 mt4g's and both of them had bad sim cards. Had to go back to T-Mobile and have them activate new ones and put them in for the phones to work. Hope that helps.

I have to put a piece of paper behind my SIM card to make the phone recognize it. I'm too lazy to try to fix it since it's really not a big problem.
Give it a try.

I had a similar problem... It was conflicting with something on my sd-ext so I had to do a complete format, and re partitioned and re flashed now I don't have any problems
Hope this helps

Well I havent partitioned my SD card at all, would you recommend I partition it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well, I would format my SD card first, and if u want to partition the SD card, do it through amon_ra, then flash DTa2sd, its already on the shooter ROM but it isn't the newest beta... The newest beta allows for the datasd command, moving a lot of ur data to the SD card, but make sure it SD card is at least a class 6 or higher otherwise this could hinder the snappyness (is that a word?) Of your ROM... I don't know if it is mandatory to partition or not...

Ok thanks ill try to do that but i have the standard SD card that came with my EVO is that a good enough SD card?

Can't download anything

I just got a NC and I got it running with cm7.2 fine but I saw that I could not download anything. It will just say unsuccessful.
Now I got it running cm10 to see if it made a difference with no luck.
So basically I cant save anything to internal memory or move any files to and from

I don't know if it makes a difference but I used the eyeballer guide to flash cm to internal memory.
I also can't change the permissions to the storage/sdcard0 folder it just wont let me edit the internal memory

It is possible that your media partition is not formatted properly. What makes me think that is you have problems with both CM7 and CM10. Did you have problems with stock? You say you just got the NC, new or used from somebody else?
You can try my format zip from my emmc repair thread linked in my signature. But if it is new and under warranty, I would put stock back on it and get a different one from B&N. See my NC Tips thread also linked in my signature for how to put stock back on it. See item A15.

CyanogenMod and SD storage

Anybody know if custom ROMs like cm10 would help us get back some SD card space (after bootloader unlock)?
9GB is ridiculous.

Of course they would, they don't have any of the Samsung proprietary stuff that takes up all the space

Yes, we just have to wait for the bootloader unlock to be released and the nightlies of CM 10.1 to start.
So SD card repartition would be covered in the ROM install? I wasn't sure if these were separate activities.

I don't believe the SD card is partitioned different, I believe if you hhave root you can access all the samsung stuff in hidden folders and not on a desperate partition
I have the 16gb and was thinking about upgrading to the 32 on the 10th... I know cm10 and other roms will take advantage of the external sd card. But will the other TW based roms give you the freedom to use external as the main storage? I dont see a point in upgrading if they do...

Even with custom roms you still can't move apps to sd card as the limitation is android where Google does not allow it. You will still need to use some kind of app to accomplish moving apps to sd card.

Would apps like GL to SD work on S4?
I have s3 right now and I'm wondering if I can use this app the same way I did on S3.
Lack of memory is a major concern to me as I have lots of large games...
