Can't download anything - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got a NC and I got it running with cm7.2 fine but I saw that I could not download anything. It will just say unsuccessful.
Now I got it running cm10 to see if it made a difference with no luck.
So basically I cant save anything to internal memory or move any files to and from

I don't know if it makes a difference but I used the eyeballer guide to flash cm to internal memory.
I also can't change the permissions to the storage/sdcard0 folder it just wont let me edit the internal memory

It is possible that your media partition is not formatted properly. What makes me think that is you have problems with both CM7 and CM10. Did you have problems with stock? You say you just got the NC, new or used from somebody else?
You can try my format zip from my emmc repair thread linked in my signature. But if it is new and under warranty, I would put stock back on it and get a different one from B&N. See my NC Tips thread also linked in my signature for how to put stock back on it. See item A15.

External_sd in Cyanogen

Hi all, apologies if this is in the wrong place but a Google search was fruitless. I'm using cyanogen stable, and I've found very few bugs. The biggest one I've found is not being able to find the files on my external_sd. They still exist somewhere because my gallery shows pics etc. Can anyone tell me where they are now? Cheers.

You'll find them at /emmc. I'm not quite sure, but i think i saw some kernel that fixes this "bug".

Yup mnt/emmc is where you will find it.
I think this was to fix cyan wiping pics and videos on external memory when being installed.

Some apps, like navigon select, require access to external_sd path and there is the way to reconfigure cm7 to mount external sd in that Sammy path, i did described steps and now I have sd card with Sammy path. However, if you are not confident changing system files, don't do that, and even if you think you can, make nandroid backup first. Here is the link for the solution - http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/34456-can-i-change-de-external-sd-location/

I found it, thanks guys. On another note, Cyanogen and siyah is blazing!

Thats the thread I found with links I couldn't get to work. I did get to boot into CWM. Could I just save something like CM10 to a micro sd boot into CWM and flash it to get me up and running again?
Any help would be great I have never really broke a device before and kinda bummed
If you can get into cwm just try formatting your SD and then you'll have to flash a zip or ROM using cwm or odin

The good news is I just out in a brand new sd card and formatted it before I pulled this awesome stunt. So if I save the CM10 zip on my PC desktop I can just use Odin to flash it? Or do I need to save it to my micro sd and the CWM from my tablet boot screen?
So sorry just want to make sure I'm set when I get home
You need to save to your SD and then flash with cmw

You guys rock! First time ROMing this device due to my stupidity. Put CM10 on it last night and love it so far but I guess now on to see what else is out there too. Just heard so much about CM10 figured I would hit that one up first.
Just a big thanks again to the site, posters and developers. Cheers :good:

You basically have three options.
Run a rooted stock on internal memory. To get that use Manual Nooter 5.08.20 in the development thread. Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22480277
Run a Cyanogenmod (CM) ROM on internal memory, replacing stock. Use eyeballers guide to set that up. Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12797652
Or run a CM ROM from a bootable SD. Use my NC updated SD installation guide linked in my signature.
They each work equally well, just depends on what you want.

Right i understand that i was jut wondering why nobody follows the method on the cm website. Does it not work for certain versions? Does it not work at all?

It is probably out of date. Do you have a link. I could look.

That should work, but is so much more difficult than the eyeballer method. You have to make an unooter card, root stock with it so you can use ROM Manager. Then run ROM Manager to install CWM, boot to the new CWM and flash the CM ROM. A lot of extra steps. With eyeballers guide you just make a CWM card and flash with that. No need to root stock first.

[Q] install CM11 internally on nook color

Hello,
I've been reading up on cm11, and finally decided to duct off the old NC sitting on the shelf (CM9), and update to cm11.
I was using a release after 5-16 (or 5-15)? (encore of course)...
and cwm 6.0.4.8
I installed CM9 a few years back, so I'm no stranger to this, but the update to cm11 is not taking, there was a few times it booted up, but I couldn't do anything on it, then it froze.
My question is, are there any step by step guides, to wipe this thing clean and start over, to get it up to cm11 internally, not from sd card? (including all files needed)?
Thanks in advance, and for breathing new life into the Nook Color!
I can help you with wiping clean and starting over, but not on getting CM11 going.
Go to my NC tips thread linked in my signature and make a new bootable CWM SD per item A10 (the 6048 version you have now will not work). The follow item A15 to get stock back. Remember to use the formatting zip there too.

Thanks for the quick reply leapinlar! I feel like I am halfway there!
I went to your thread, and formatted the partitions using the smaller CWM, and then got the 6.0.1.2 to install the NC 1.4.3, and it looks like a brand new nook!
I may just go to the thread I saw and install CM11 to sd ( I believe you were the author of that guide also).
I just heard it ran quicker if it was on the emmc....
I am running cm11 on my nook color emmc right now. Used cwm6048 to do it.

Advice for a Newbie - Porting from SD card to Internal Flash

Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to upgrade an old Nook Color with CM7 installed on the SDcard and want to flash to internal memory to whatever newest / fastest rom / build and would like some advice or links. I tried searching the forum but nothing came up with recent roms / or this specific circumstance.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Just start over with reburning the SD per the instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2629337
That puts a fresh installation of CM11 on internal memory. It does not matter what you were running on the SD prior.

Thanks for the help leapinlar! Reading the link it says cm11 has slow video playback so I'm going to try and see if cm10 or cm9 has better video as that will be one of the main uses.
