I have been cowering in the dark like a scared little girl for almost 3 months now with my vibrant. All i had the guts to go and try amidst all this developement was the OCLF lagfix by Ryan. OH BOY OH BOY i had a 2500 quadrant score that i could proudly show anyone... ya that and a 9 hour battery life and checking the net always hoping for the... ahem... froyo update.
That is until i got fed up and brooke loose.... Team Whiskey presented the Vibrant world with their custom ROM Nero 3, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883379
I mean The boys do a good job explaining the specs so i won't go into that, i simply wanted this thread to put ANYONES mind at ease who is sitting the fence on this one, take the plunge bretheren.
I've had it for 3 days and here are my beautiful experineces..
-My brother Had the same setup i did, stock 2.1 with OCLF. And today we sat down and did a comparrison. After 11 hours of light use ( I was working, but handful of texts and a few calls) but same for scenerio for him, I was sitting at 75, and he had 43 on his battery, and that is a exponential decay, i Made it from waking up at six to bedtime with more than half left, and i'm a night owl.
I am a testimant to the fact that OCLF (lagfix not root) is a energy hog.
-Everything you have heard TW work so hard to provide us in thier time, they have included this in the ROM, so in my personal opinion its the snappiest and smoothest ROM available. my quadrant score is around 1800 with voodoo lagfix. So i am also a testimant to the myth that quadrant scores can be very dishonest.
I'm no dev, but i am a heavy USER, and i am well read about the vibrant. So post all your holdups here and we'll try and get them taken care of .
Preflash checklist:
1. Do all your backups, nandroid, titanium backup, etc..
2. Disable any and all Lagfixes
3. Hold onto your butts, this is gonna be fun
Some recent mods that i've tried and liked, all flashable:
1. http://board.teamwhiskey.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=732: Blue notificaion icons (vs. Green) by jocelyn
2. http://board.teamwhiskey.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=681: Accurate Battery icon by jocelyn
3. http://board.teamwhiskey.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=533: 5 bar signal by Viralblack
4. http://board.teamwhiskey.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=632: Nexus boot animation posted by jocelyn
Behold its awesome glory, thats not launcher pro. that ap dwawer is the real deal.
Metamorph (can't flash these but super easy to apply) mods:
1. nero-blue-oasp: (jocelyn did a great job of making everyting blue except some of the green system icons and dock icons, this will finish the job as seen in my 3rd pic)
2. Gmail: on of my beefs with the nero was that when you get and email or sms message, the two notification icons look almost the same, well the gmail mod changes the gmail notification to the white and red gmail icon, no more confusion

New found mods
1. libflashplayer.so.fix.10.1.105.6 (1).zip (3.55 MB): HEY A HULU HACK!!! So this allows you to watch hulu from your phone, but as of now its pretty slow, but give her a go, at least its SOMETHING. so here are the steps to install
a. Download zip to pc, unzip, and put the actual file unzipped onto sd card
b. Use root explorer, go to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib, and replace file with one you just downloaded, be sure to change permissions for user to write.
c. open broswer now, and in settings (i use dolfin HD) change "user agent" to desktop.
2. nero_nexus_boot_and_shutdown.zip (3.77 MB): Made by jocelyn so its safe. Its that fancy 4 flying color bootup and shutdown, very nice. clockworkrecovery flash, and as with all her stuff, it takes several minutes to bootup the first time, just be patient, after that its back to normal.

Proven Boot and shutdown animation/sound modification methods for NERO 3:
1. Gravis 86 Provided a great website to some software to make MORE of linda talking if you like http://cepstral.com/demos/
-I threw is "Bossman, you have a text", and "email awaiting". If thats your fancy, then download the cepstral software, with it create a few notifications, and the default save as a .wav file. You need to convert them to .ogg (lots of free converstion software out there). Then with ROOT explorer just slap them in /system/media/audio/notifications. this way when you go into sms message settings and click "choose ringtone" it will show up on the list.
-For bootup and shutdown mods follow this great thread http://androidforums.com/fascinate-...change-bootup-shutdown-animations-sounds.html. I can confirm his methods for bootup animation, shutdown animation, and shutdown sound all work great, as do all his animations posted. Only thing i can't get to work is bootup sound. May i suggest droid soiling the mac apple with his urine
Tips:
-When replacing bootanimation and sounds files. Caps matter, must be spelled EXACTLY as the origional file, and you can just change the old ones name if you want to keep it handy.
-Must reboot for it to take effect
-set permissions by long click, as user: rw and the other two as r and r. so it should be rw-r--r--

That's what I love about Android....so many ways to do so many things. No idea what switchpro is, don't use LP or BW.
First Pic:
1. ADW (you can use either regular ADW EX)
2. Use the swipe down (or up or whatever) to hide the taskbar
3. Battstat for the battery widget
4. Weather Bug Elite for weather widget
5. Clokr Evolution for the clock/date
6. Found the wallpaper on Flikie
7. ADW theme is default, but icons at bottom are from "ADW.Theme.Two (WhitVert)
8. Power Widget is stock Power Control from the Nero v3 ROM
Second Pic:
Mostly the same as above, just put in the AppBrain & SetCPU (color it to your desire) widgets.
Bluetooth and WiFi widgets are from CurveFish
Green Gmail is form the Gmail Unread Count widget
ROM is Nero V1
This ROM is hands down the best I have used yet. The others are great and all the devs deserve a big thanks and a lot of credit.
This ROM is just so smooth and FAST. It runs with my Nexus S with no problem and finally makes the Vibrant feel the way it should stock. Just the right amount of TW and all the goodness of vanilla.

I've tried lots of wrongs, but this one sure feels right!
Nero V3 is my daily driver. I have voodo enabled. It is fast and smooth.
I have not found any problems with this Rom. I have added joclyn's stay on fix when plugged in, her battery mod, then added the stock icons with color (not green) and circle battery.
Ya i guess that is technically the point, but to me happy reviews and pics are as good as proof as anything, so this is all gold.
Lolcopter, I'm really diggin the wallpaper, where did you find that? And I glanced over that blue keyboard mod, is it swype, one of the other keyboards, or for all of them?

Cyanogen mod Rom:
Pro:
-fast in terms of browsing through the menus and such (IE not lagging AT ALL when I scroll down hundreds of .apk files I have on my SD card)
-barebone ROM ready for customization (void of many apps the stock ROM and Virtuous ROM comes with)
Cons:
-lack of installed programs (had to install Android Market separately for goodness sakes)
-lack of flashiness (not as sexy as Sense Rom)
-much slower bootup time
Virtuous
Pro:
-sexier interface (HTC Sense)
-faster shutdown and bootup time (3 seconds and 2 seconds respectively)
-a lot more apps preinstalled
Cons:
-a bit sluggish when browsing through apps and such (IE trying to scroll through 100+ apps on your SD card)
There you have it folks. The completely subjective guide to these two ROMS.
This should be a good starter for Android noobs like I was two weeks ago when I first got the phone.
These two ROMS have little tweaks and mods that the stock ROM does not have that honestly go over my head but is suppose to give performance enhancements and streamline various processes.
Reason people use CM is because it is like the Google Chrome of internet browers; it is lightning fast.
Reason people use Virtuous is because it is more user friendly. You don't have to spend so much time researching where to download GAPPS and flash it with ROM manager like you would if you use CM.
I personally used the Virtuous ROM when I first started out, and I just moved to the CM ROM today once I got the hang of things.
Stock CM homescreen was kind of dull and unappealing so I downloaded Launcher Pro and downloaded customized docks for it, and now it looks pretty damn sexy.
That's just my two cents on these things.
I have CM RC3 w/ launcher pro. I find that at times when going back to my homescreen the widgets lag about a second or two behind. When I used sence on the device it would lag a lot. I would pull down the status bar and I had to wait for it to pull down, that's why I made the jump to CM. I really enjoy CM and have cut back on the widgets to prevent a lag.
Edit: CM has a separate zip with all the Google apps like market so OP I don't see why that would be a con. CM builds also have trackpad wake built in.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Great starting point on a comparison guide.
However, how is the CM Rom "Barebone"..? It has many features over stock and destroys any other build I have ever seen on any phone to date. The lack of Google apps was from an order by Google to not include any Google apps in roms. That is why there is the Gapps.zip located where the download is for the CM Roms.
I personally hate sense user interface since I like to have a single blank screen besides a clock widget and a pacman wallpaper. No app drawer Icon since i use flick up to open the drawer.
That reminds me.
I forgot to mention that my G2 is overclocked to about 1.2 ghz and I have 1 calendar widget, 1 SetCPU widget, and 3 app shortcuts. That's it.
Overclocking works wonders, for those of you who wonder if overclocking has appreciable differences or not.

I suppose everyone has their own taste. Some people like to load their screens full of random ass widgets. Some people like it simple and have a clean homescreen. Others compromise between the two (like me)
And your point is duly noted.

Also Sense UI takes up quite a bit more memory and it shows in benchmarks and in high end applications.
CM is stripped down so you can add items you want to add to it such as transitions and other UI tweaks with out having all the bloat of Sense UI.
Sense UI is ok and all but soon as you try to adjust your pixel density it will look like ass =/
It's all personal prefence. I like the Sense ui, but it really does take up a lot of memory. Using the Advanced Task Manager with Sense I can see when I free up memory, I'll have about 100mb left, meanwhile with the stock rom, clearing out apps, will give me about 190-200mb.
Not that it matters, because Android has great Ram management but still for the self conscience ones it bothers them.
i like virtuous because its nice and fast enough for me
Nice little basic write up.
My first ROM to ever flash was the CM V6.1.0-RC4, and I found the GAPPS, after much researching.
I kinda like that way I have stuff set up after 3 days of permroot, and flashing this ROM, so I don't know if I need to test the waters and see about the Virtuous.
I've never had the delay on wake-ups, and the start up time beats the hell out of stock.
I love waking my phone up from the track pad, that was always weird to me having to hit the power key twice to unlock on stock.
BillY
Both roms are VERY good roms. I personally switch back and forth here and there for the fun of it. But my personal favorite would have to be CM. Virtous isnt too far behind it though.
Sense or no sense thats the difference. The only difference imo.

Plus
Virtuous pros:
->Updating is a breeze.. I love the patches, unlike CM that you need to download huge file plus google apps and wipe every time update is around.
->I think there is more camera/video function on the virtuous.
->I love the hidden top taskbar.. multitasking is made easy.
->Built in Titanium back up
->Built in QuickOffice
->Did I say.. DLNA?
...---- You can output your pictures, videos and music to your TV.. how cool is that.
->When you hold and press power button, it gives you so many power related choices.
->Built in, SMS, MMS widget
->Register to HTC sense and when your phone is stolen, you can locate it.
->Much better car panel.
->I love the wheel like GUI when you adjust time/alarm... it is so much easier.
->'Clock' , has many functions.. Timer/Stop watch/world Clock....
->The clock + weather widget.. your screen rains/clouds/etc depending on the weather.
->Flip the phone while ringing and it will silent it.. very good function during meetings.
->I think it rings louder when it is inside your pocket.
->It has it's own navigation app.. It downloaded something on my first use... I think that's the local map loaded in your phone. You could probably still use navigation without data connection.
->FM radio is already stated above.
Virtuous cons:
->no built in swype yet
CM pros:
->unlike virtuous, you can put to phone to 'silent' so easily
->And, I have used CM for a long time.. could be that I am just used to it.
none of the ROMS have built in swype.

Both great ROMS
I think that they are both great ROMs. I keep going from one to the other as soon as a new revision comes out. I do think that Virtuous could use the silent option in the power options, a percentage indicator when charging, and the auto rotate when in the home screen. Other than that, both ROMs ROCK!

I generally use Battery Watcher for power percentage (shows it even when charging). Virtuous does have a silent option in the power options thing and also rotates now.
I use a sense based virtuous rom with launcher pro since I like the HTC apps (not so much the widgets). Uploading to facebook via gallery could not be easier and better managed. Also, the HTC camera app is really good! HTC sms app lags a little when I have over 400 messages to load and the contacts app lacks a filter.
HTC apps are the only thing holding me back from going CM
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I think they are both excellent roms however I don't care for all the dev added stuff. Its like t mobile only with the developers marks all over the place. Personally I use Enomther's rom and will always recommend him over any other. Stable, added optional goodies and lightning fast everything anyone could want. As far as sense roms go I would use EvilD'S mt4g rom as its amazing!

so far i am loving it
Great job.
It is just amazing this rom has now survived two devs who bailed on it(for good reasons, not hating).
1.) Again as with the others fast fast fast and with the OC/UV kernel and running everything as ext4 its smoking fast
2.) love the new framework mods, very gingerbready
3.) New market is freaking awesome!
4.) did i say fast!
The only thing i could think of would be the new swipe that is out. But i know some people dont use it so i am not going to harp on a personal preference!

man, awesome timing....just did a roundabout with the darky's JPU that's based on 2.2.1 and after hours of going through the long install it still paled in comparison to aospMOD
i dont think people realize how amazingly fast this ROM is here.....in fact, there was a version of 1.0 that was linked in the original thread by a guy named tim that incorporated setiron's kernel into it and i'll be damned if i ever find anything as fast as that ROM
i'll give this one a go, though....apparently if you give it the ol' circle-jerk thread title people will actually download it
just a word of polite criticism, btw
the theme on this thing is better suited to black notification bar themes
i never updated to 1.1 on aospMOD for that reason alone (he did a similar theme with the green battery, etc etc).....the plain ol' vanilla theme with black icons is as good as it gets.

great rom...just did some gps nav and the tracking was great...it was only about 4 miles and 6 turns but tracked perfectly in first test.
the one thing i am missing is the ability to SPEAKNOW.
Is there a way to enable or reinstall (specifically the speaknow microphone is gone from google search bar and is gone from where i used it even more frequently Google Nav).
nevermind just had to reinstall voice search from market and it restored
i need a little help, i love roms but i dont love some of the layouts and what nots
but ive been strongly looking at miui and it looks really really nice but i wanted another opinion, what rom would you recommend?
and if youre using miui whats the cons? pros??
and if you can screen shot the way you txt? thatd be awesome =]

I am currently running MIUI 1.9.16.1 and I just love it. I have also used Liberty and CM7. Both are great but I love the battery life, customizability and smoothness of MIUI.
I just installed Cyanogenmod last night and I love it. It's fast, seems stable, and has tons of customization options. I also liked Liberty, except for the pee yellow color (I'm sure there's a theme to change that), but I wasn't a fan of MIUI. It looked very polished, but it was like some weird iPhone wannabe, and wasn't as smooth or fast as Cyanogenmod.
Which version of CM7 are you using. I'm thinking of trying it out but I'm not sure which nightly to go with.

Dunno, mine is pretty good. I also use Juice Defender which helps.
Liberty had decent battery life, but CM7 sucked when I was using it. May be they fixed it in the latest updates.

The mod version is 7.1.0-RC0 and the build number is GRH78C.
I'm personally on Liberty 0.9 Gingerbread.
While it's great for a Beta ROM, it hasn't been updated in a LONG time, and there are still some outstanding bugs that are starting to get a little annoying. It turns out one of the Devs left, and the other was planning on working on a version of the ROM called Justice based on CM7. I'd use it any day over stock, but I'd love to see some work done on it.
It looks like the DX is reaching the end of it's development sadly, too bad it didn't have a run like the OG Droid.
Anyway, for those of you using CM7, is there anything that's still not working?
Last I read, things like GPS still weren't working, which in all honesty is completely unacceptable for me. My phone is my "every" device; MP3 Player, GPS, Phone, etc etc.
How's the battery life on CM7? It's not great on Liberty, but maybe my battery is getting a bit old.

I'm running CM7 on my X and my GPS works good, and my battery life is much better than GB was... charges almost twice as fast as that blurry rom I was on as well.

I was a firm believer in Liberty back in the day.
Then Kejar left and the team went to hell.
Liberty 0.9 is still a DECENT rom though.
Try it out if you're used to the stock experience.
But if you're feeling brave...
I was a FIRM believer in CM7 for a long while.
PROS
-Adjust screen brightness by swiping the status bar
-Take a screenshot by holding power until the option comes up
-Change songs by holding the volume button up/down while the screen is off
-Pause music with camera button while screen is off
-Tmobile themes (You don't need to flash ANYTHING to theme CM7. You simply open the "Themes" Application and swap out a new one [found in the market or online] and it themes your phone without even rebooting!) *Rebooting is recommended for most themes...but you can get the feel of a theme in 5 seconds rather than flashing it...rebooting...checking...deciding you don't like it...flash stock back...yada yada yada*
-FAST I get scores of 3000 in Quadrant running at 1.2ghz.
-%1 battery icon in the status bar (on official froyo kernel only. the "unofficial" gingerbread builds still haven't gotten this working yet).
-Yes, GPS works fine. Everything works fine.
-Lockscreen can have a separate wallpaper.
-Control bar is built into the status bar (change brightness/turn on wifi/etc)
CONS
-No HDMI (I didn't use it anyway)
-No 720p video recording
*These are both RUMORED to be being worked on. Who knows.
I recently, however switched to the newest MIUI build.
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?6392-ROM-MIUI.us-1.9.23
I recommend it HIGHLY.
PROS
-Fast, once again. Same speeds as CM7, it seems.
-THEMES. Woah buddy. Themes are a HUGE part of MIUI.
--You download themes from within a theme application...and they once again, theme your phone without the need of a reboot. The best part is, you can swap out pieces of themes for other pieces if you don't like the whole theme.
I'm rocking a theme on the status bar by one dev...a lockscreen by another...a sms by another...yada yada yada.
-Lockscreens...OMG lockscreens. The lockscreens are AWESOME. There are literally HUNDREDS of options for lockscreens. They are changed via the "themes" application...but woah buddy. These aren't just themes.
There are ICS-like lockscreens. Lockscreens that you can drag in like 10 directions depending on what application you want to open.
http://forums.miui.us/showthread.ph...s-lockscreen-theme-collection-new-theme-26-08 there are some good examples in there.
-A little-known trick...MIUI takes screenshots...faster than CM7 =]
--Hold menu+volume down = instant screenshot.
--*Holding menu+volume up = turns your brightness all the way up!
-Fastboot option (rather than a full reboot) is in the power-menu along with bootloader, full reboot, stock recovery, cwm recovery.
-Control-widget's are, again, built into the status bar (change brightness/turn on wifi/etc).
-Blacklist people from calling/texting you by simply adding them to a list available in the contacts app.
-Reply with text message to ignored calls.
-Blur-like dialer in that you can search via t9 for a contact...rather than memorizing the number or opening the contacts list.
-Lockscreens, again, can have custom wallpapers.
-If you're on your phone, a message pops up at the top of the screen when you get an sms that allows you to reply directly without closing the app you're in.
CONS
-No HDMI
-No 720p
*The 720p IS being worked on...haven't heard about the hdmi.
Thanks. I think I'll check out MIUI this weekend.
How good are they about updates?

Holy crap Kejar! I ended up with Cyanogen because Liberty was lagging behind... now I might need to switch back once it gets updated.
Can we start expecting regular updates from this point forward?

Notice this tweet
"Liberty 2 for the DX is coming along nicely.... Expect test builds as early as this weekend.. enjoy this teaser http://t.co/7cD87duk"

Alright,
So, like most of you, I am anxiously waiting the day a stable AOSP build of ICS comes out for our phones. I saw the SamMobile leaks come and go, I saw the CM9 alpha being released, and while I have immeasurable respect to the entire dev scene going on with ICS and CM9 none of the ROMs that have come out are stable enough for daily use.
Well, I needed something to scratch my ICS itch. I installed a theme over CM7, no use. I installed a theme of MIUI, no use. Everything came close, but nothing quite fit the bill. So earlier today I set out to make my phone look and feel as ICS as possible - and I believe I managed to do just that... and I now jokingly refer to my phone as running the GingerCream operating system This whole thing is based off of CM7, but there are elements that don't require CM7 if you want to apply them to your current ROM.
Its important for me to note that absolutely none of the things posted here are my work! All I did was experiment with a ton of different resources that each excel in bringing one specific element of the ICS experience to our phones, and combine them. Well, I can say that I finally think I put together something that will hold me over until a stable AOSP-based ICS build comes to our phone, and I'm pretty sure it can hold you over too. Without further ado, the process:
Step 1
Install the latest CM7 build you can get.
I personally downloaded and installed update-cm7-galaxys2-20111227 from here.
Step 2
Download the following zip archive: Link.
This zip file contains a whole bunch of sources (fonts, sounds, animations, wallpapers, etc) that are properly organized. Extract this archive somewhere accessible - I will be referring to it throughout this guide.
Step 3
Install Sonny Sekhon's ICS Theme: Link.
This theme is fantastic, and built specifically for the T-Mobile Theme Engine present in CM7. When you apply it, ignore the missing assets alert, and reboot your phone.
Step 4
Install ADW EX: Link.
Yes, it costs money - but it has two major things going for it:
1. It supports folders that look almost exactly like the ones in ICS.
2. Its smooth as all hell. Don't be fooled by thinking it has the same performance as the regular ADW launcher - with a live wallpaper in the background my phone remains buttery smooth.
Overall, I've tried a whole lot of launchers, and this is most definitely my favorite.
Step 5
Install the ADW ICS Theme: Link.
Apply it. Now, for some reason my app launcher icon in the dock did not change - I fixed this by dragging it out to the desktop, editing it, changing its icon and dragging it back to the dock bar.
Step 6
Install the ICS Phase Beam Live Wallpaper: Link.
Its free, it works, its sexy, 'nuff said.
Step 7
Replace the bootanimation.
Navigate the zip archive you extracted earlier. Look for the "Boot Animation" folder, inside is a bootanimation.zip file. Make a backup of the original bootanimation file, and push our file to "/system/media/". Reboot your phone.
By the way, we're going to reboot the phone a lot. I don't know if its absolutely necessary, but I do just to avoid any weird mishaps along the way. I advise you do the same.
Step 8
Install the Roboto font.
Install and run Font Changer once, then navigate the GingerCream zip archive and look for the "Fonts" folder. Inside are four font files - copy them to the .fontchanger folder on your phone's SD card. Run Font Changer again, choose "Roboto - Reguler", and reboot the device.
Step 9
Install the transition animations.
Navigate the GingerCream zip file and find the "Transition Animations" folder. Push the zip file inside to your phone, and install it via recovery. Easy enough.
Step 10
Install ICS sounds.
Navigate the GingerCream zip file and find the "Sounds" folder. Push the zip file inside to your phone, and install it via recovery. Again, easy enough.
Step 11
Install WidgetLocker: Link.
Yes, it costs money - but I think I've tried ALL other lockscreen replacements, and this one actually has smooth animation and the ICS theme built in. It will also use the live wallpaper for its background.
Step 12
Install the ICS Keyboard: Link.
This is the one I use... works well, and it has a bunch of downloadable dictionaries for different languages.
And... that's it! You're done. The GingerCream zip file also includes static wallpaper images and launcher icons in case you don't want to use ADW EX - even though, again, I can't stress how smooth and beautiful this launcher looks.
What will this thread be without screenshots? This is how my phone looks after doing all the steps above (attached). Obviously I can't show you animations or sounds, so take my word for it - they look damn good, and they're damn smooth.
I hope you've enjoyed this guide! If you have any comments/questions/additions, don't hesitate to write 'em. Happy holidays!
I just use Checkrom revo with the ICS theme. GB with TW and ICS theme=perfect.
Haha, I'm digging this thread. And I'm gonna retweet this.

If TW is your thing, good for you I personally can't stand it. Still, you could pick up some parts of the guide - for example, the keyboard / live wallpaper / lockscreen.

im no dev so just asking
isnt there anyway to use the ICS phone and contacts [including fav. category] in a gingerbread rom ?
cause thts 1 think i find to b really good , and the only visual things missing from the mods posted above
asking cause back when i owned a spica there was a frozen-eclair rom [froyo-eclair mix] , so mayb this can also b done ....
I have similar on my phone, but I used GO Launcher with ICS theme and there you can get GO Locker, which is similar to ICS locker, but is free. Also GO Launcher with ICS theme on CM7.1 with ICS theme looks great, very close to real ICS.

Maybe there's a way, I'm not a dev either. But right now it's not available, and I think we would all rather the devs to work on the ICS port itself rather than porting apks to work in Gingerbread

Yeah, I gave Go Locker a try. I had three problems with it:
1) It requires you to use Go Launcher as your launcher, which doesn't have ICS-style folders
2) The animation on the lockscreen is really choppy, and it really detracts from the overall experience.
3) You can't set the live wallpaper as the wallpaper for the lockscreen if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, if you're using CM7, you can still grab the transition animations / sounds / fonts / wallpapers / keyboard / etc. - I found that when combined it really works together to create a very authentic ICS look and feel.
Thanks for the guide! This is a perfect setup until a stable release of the CM9 is available for the SGSII!
Would like to recommend the exDialer with the ICS theme to get T9 dialing and the ICS look Just makes it perfect!
Thanks again.

I'm addicted to t9 dialing, so it's a must for me. On another note, I see the calendar and the messaging app is not themed, any solutions for that? or did I go wrong somewhere?

Nice one
But I am too lazy to do all that and worst of all I ain't rooted yet as find the SGS2 is great as it is for the time being
Having said that the GOOD NEWS is that we will get a stable ICS release in January from the same people who leaked the first two * so fingers crossed*
Once again a good post for those who wanna go for it
^^Who said it's going to be stable??

Nope, the calendar and the messaging app aren't themed. I try to avoid installing too many additional apps to replace stock ones, so I avoided installing things like GO SMS or calendar apps. I also didn't find these apps to detract from the overall feel of the phone, personally.
Brilliant - good work.

Is there any themes out there that changes the default icons for Phone, Contacts and Whatsapp? Those are the only 3 icons that are ruining the look for me right now. Using ADW EX.
The answer is yes

Yep sure, just download ADW EX theme packs (I use ADW elegant)
After doing this just simply:
-Long press your icon.
-Click edit.
-Select ADW theme packs and pick ADW elegant *or your choice
-Select your new icon.
-Done.
There's a section of this in my 3D UI tutorial vid.. Hope that helps!

Yea I know it works, I wouldn't listen to the note without it, no way. Make sure the box is ticked for enabling and try playing with the eq while listening to a song
What theme are you using for the one more clock ?
Looks Fantastic, is there a way to make it work in some fashion when in portrait mode. Thanks for sharing... has given me a bunch of ideas in terms of customization.
In terms of battery how much of a difference do you find over touchwiz, i had done this with my galaxy s2 previously using goEX and ADW but found the battery to be 15% less on average, using the same widgets etc. Is that old news now and do any of these widgets have any noticeable drain, as it does look fantastic.
you wouldn't mind sharing all those wallpapers, would you?
Nice video. The suggested apps should certainly augment to make the ULTIMATE NOTE even more interesting...
I froze the original launcher. Is there a way to make the interface look a certain way in landscape (like your interface) and a totally different look and interface in portrait mode? Would I have to keep two launchers active in order to achieve this and swap launchers depending on if I want to be in landscape or portrait? I think having two active launchers would slow the note down if thats what I had to do...
You showed SVOX in this vid. Did you ever try Ivona? It certainly needs more space but IMO it's way better.
How did you get the background To change as you flipped through the home pages?

After watching your clips, I go wild installing live wallies here and there. Not too fond of the aquatic wallpapers though PP, and I notice you may not have checked this one out (market.android.com/details?id=com.ramdroidstudios.livewallpaper.fireflies) which is far more playful and fun than staring at 'season zen' of that nature. I do love 'blue skies' a lot, thanks for recommending that!
Installed the A.I Keyboard and it's great. As a former WP7 user, I'm loving the theme and "click" sound from the WP7 keyboard. The keys are larger and I can type fast as well. Thanks!
