you will not be able to get HDMI running on ApeX unfortunately, but there are some apps like Real Hdmi that should work but you will have to pay for it...

Thank you...that's what I was thinking

The motoblur media player is what you need to use the HDMI. If there was a way to get that working, then you could. I don't think it's too hard, it's in other roms. Maybe make a feature request in the apex thread?

Yeah but are you able to have full HDMI capabilities, such as viewing your homescreen in like landscape mode. Thats what I'm trying to figure out. Im on Apex 1.4.1 as well and can only view images/video with the blur gallery. As soon as i click out, the screen goes blank.

Real hdmi does work on apex 1.4.1, but I can't get full screen like video player. additionally today I discovered that the video player for apex plays divx avi full screen on my tv. Just like movies app does mp4. It was awesome.

Wiimote

What is your experience with this? With my roms working and hdmi working I want to give it a try. Your thoughts?
Sent from my MIUI powered Evo
I haven't been able to put it down, they run smooth, like if it were on the original systems! The n64 one is being tweaked at the moment but the rest kick ass, do it, you wont regret it

Is there any way to use the wiimote to control the android environment, not just game emulators?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I haven't really researched it, but as far as I've seen on here, no. It would definitely be cool to use it as a remote for when it's connected via HDMI for watching movies or photo slideshows or music.

Yeah thats what I have found too. Would definitely be cool if it did work.

Wiimote is great! I also use it with the classic controller for games that require a few more buttons.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Going to try it.
Thanks
My wiimote doesn't seem to want to work with my emulators. I assign the correct buttons in the emulator settings but they never work. But the wiimote apps notice that I am pressing the buttons so do the emulators settings menu but when in game no such luck.any suggestions?

From what I have been told is that the Wiimote doesn't work on sense roms, what rom are you using?

Yea the Wiimote doesnt work with Sense because of the Bluetooth Stack, anyway I am running CM7 Nightly 22 and am using a Wiimote with MotionPlus built in, I believe this may be the problem but who knows.

[Q] Netflix output to HDMI TV works?

Anyone tried this with good results?
My results:
I use the free "device check disabled" version of the Netflix app, and it operates great on my stock unrooted DroidX. Watched entire movies over 3G with no problems. Works over WiFi too.
Got myself a HDMI cable for the phone to TV (less than $4 incl. shipping, from Amazon)
I've tried using the free "Xternal Display for Droid X" app to send output to an external HDMI monitor.
Works for a couple of minutes, then quits.
I suspect the "Xternal Display" app is getting swapped out by the Android OS, and that kills the TV output.

There's an app in the market called realhdmi that works I haven't tested it on netflix yet but it works great with youtube videos
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I purchased the hdmi app from the market. Afterwards Netflix started right up on my tv. No luck before that. It is somewhat of a pain to use. What you see on your tv is not what you see on your phone. Takes some time to get use to.
This makes the DroidX the smallest Netflix streaming device for a TV?
Sent from my unrooted DroidX using XDA App
I've been using the same app and ut works it just randomly stops working alot and I have to reopen the xternal app. But you could try using the paid app realhdmi, I haven't had any issues with that

sorry, i think iphone 4 and ipod touch 4g are smaller, and officially support tv-out with component, vga, and hdmi (with proper cables/dongles). i wish my droid x officially supported hdmi out for anything useful.

Twonky Mobile App
I'm hearing real hdmi doesn't work under Gingerbread yet. Can someone confirm?
Also, under Froyo, has anyone watched an *entire* Netflix movie using real hdmi without any problems?
Sent from an unrooted DroidX using XDA app.
Realhdmi works on gingerbread as of a few weeks ago.
Sent from my DROIDX
Real HDMI will do the job, but because netflix is a mobile app, the picture quality is passable when it is highest, but not watchable if your connection slows and the video quality drops.

TV-Out?

Hello I currently have a Vibrant and the phone has TV out with a touchwiz rom but switching to cm7 or miui it doesn't....I was thinking about the evo and how it also has tv out with a SENSE ROM and was wondering if you can use tv in cm7 or miui?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
If you want to use hdmi mirroring, that is completely possible on any froyo roms such as mynswarm2.2
Our gingerbread kernel source code, which is needed for hdmi out, was just released, so devs are working on getting full hdmi out working on custom gingerbread roms.

Yes, with the right kernal and the right hdmi mirroring app. And the right cable.
The only thing I can get my HDMI cable to do is display youtube. lol. stupid phone. HOWEVER, NICE LITTLE FACT! what's the point if the phones can't even play back video in the MOST COMMON FORMATS THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR 10 YEARS!
This would be sortof on the same subject. what is the best program to use?
Wow!
I wish we could have an app ...
We use the headphone Jack and so far there isn't any tv out!

There is, its called an hdmi mirroring app.
CM7 has certain kernels with hardware acceleration enabled for hdmi mirroring.
The app in the market is called "Full HDMI Mirroring for Evo 4G."
yxplayer2 in the market plays almost any format.

[Q] HDMI out

Hi all, I was looking at my shift, and even though it says it doesn't have video-out capabilities I see that the charging port is micro-hdmi. Is it possible to buy a micro-hdmi to hdmi cable and watch netflix and stuff on my TV?
That's micro-USB, not micro-hdmi. You use it to connect to your PC or Mac.

There is that samsung media streamer that got posted on the portal awhile back. That would be the only way I think, and it would require you have a compatible samsung tv. Or you might be able to use one of those google tv devices to stream from your phone (was that one of the features? I forget)
I use imedia share to stream to my samsung tv. Can stream things already on your phone but not netflix.

Don't think it will work for Netflix , but it does work for the other stuff on your phone. You can give THIS a try, see if it works for you.
