I don't know what is wrong with my EVO. Just the other day my notification bar stopped working. I have a fully updated EVO NO ROOT. I just did a factory reset and it did not fix the issue. The notification bar works in landscape mode. Screen seems fine so I don't think that is problem.

"Stopped working " how?
It won't drag down to view items. I can click the menu button and see all my events when clicking the notifications button but for some reason it is like the top of my screen is not working to drag the bar down. The notifications work just fine I just can pull the window down.

Interesting and you said you're not rooted...
What did you do when this started
No not rooted. My phone was locking up so I pulling the battery out. I noticed it after that. I reset my phone and have done everything I can think of. Screen seems to respond it that area so i'm not sure why it does not work.
But he did say it works in landscape and has factory reseted. I think the top if your screen is dead and needs to be replaced.

Well I just ran a Screen test and it looks like the touch screen is broke right where the notification bar is. Even when I turn the phone to landscape mode it is broke. It is a perfect line. I can draw everywhere using the touch screen test app in market place.
Hope I get a new EVO and don't have the pay the $100 fee. Seems like a hardware issue to me. Has there been any issues with screens doing this? Can I calibrate my screen?

Nope. Sounds like the touch sensor. I had a similar problem, and Sprint replaced the screen for me. If you have TEP, it will be a free repair. If not, you'll be out $35.
They replaced the screen for free. Only took them 30 minutes and they gave me a new screen protector. I love sprint today.

Not a full screen protector though, just the actual square display right? I have a few dead pixels and light leakage.

Recently (starting hours ago) When i try to text and use the physical keyboard it jumps around. It may scroll up the message or go over to send or things like that. I have taken my screen protector off (great, now i buy another one) and wiped it all down but it still does it.
I also reset it a few times.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I am getting the same thing. I think something is conducting on the capacitive screen as when I set the phone down or don't touch it at all, this never happens.
So should i exchange it?
I don't know. Like I said mine seems to do the same thing. I am not sure if it requires exchanging or if my fingers are brushing the side in a way they shouldn't. I'm open for suggestions myself
Hmm no mine just jumps up the text page like it scrolls the chat message up even if nothing is touching the screen.
Same thing here. Used to happen with my old myTouch but it was after a couple months of use. Uncool for it to happen on the G2 just after the 14 days have passed.
It is probably the capacitive pad thats not working right. Its probably detecting heat and scrolling on its own.
Yes get a replacement.
It's the touchpad. Move to a room with different lighting and try again.
I second the touchpad. It messes me up in the terminal by sending special characters.

I did notice it was the light now. Still does it sometimes tho.
Thanks. What do you guys mean by captive ? Heat ?
Mine does this randomly too, and I've also concluded it's the trackpad. One time I went to my home screen while it was doing it and I could watch the selection scrolling from left to right.
Haven't figured out how to fix it, usually if I lock then unlock the phone it works fine.
Mine just started doing this today. I was sitting under the A/C and i noticed whenever i would try to swype during SMS text messaging, it would highlight "Send" in orange or it would highlight and scroll up the text thread. After I moved away from the A/C, it stopped doing this. my trackpad has been fine and I have never had any issues prior to this or even after moving away from the A/C vent.
This trackpad works on heat I would guess or like others have said, possibly electrical ground current which is probably by a grid I would imagine.
Thats kinda bad for you guys. I havent had this problem at all but seems like a trackpad problem. This happen to me on my g1 onces and that was a dirty trackball

So I had to replace my ear speaker on my atrix. That went well but when I put it back together I lost the ability to hit the 2,w,s,x&z keys on the keyboard when the phone is held upright.
I've taken it apparent and put it back together again to no avail
Any suggestions on what to try to fix it?
It does sound like it is hardware related. I assume that this patch of screen doesn't function at all on other apps (not the keyboard)? Try a touch test app on the market and see if it recognizes the touch on the broken bit of the screen
Thats the odd thing, with the mutlitouch tester app you can click and then drag over to that area and there is a line where it won't cross but you can get close.
I must have bumped or scratched something internally, the screen itself is fine.
sounds like the fragile digitizer ribbon had been riped

Yeah if that is the case, i'm afraid that it broken and you'll need a new digitizer, sorry
Had SAME exact issue. And when I had it in lanscape mode it the backspace button didnt work either. I got it replaced yesterday under warranty

I went in and they did the same for me WOOT!
They noticed that it was rooted and said 6 days ago they would have told me I was SOL but they got an email from somebody at AT&T that said root didn't matter I guess.
I did have another rom on my phone which they didn't say anything about?
My phone has lately been a bit unresponsive. I flashed the upgrade to 2.3 and the Neutrino 2.1 ROM. I am still seeing the unresponsiveness...
Frequently if i use the power button to turn the screen off, and then bring it back on, it responds to what i was trying to do. But the bad battery I've had since forever (8 months) and just dealt with it. I hoped the upgrade to 2.3 would help, and Neutrino, still not where it should be.
Is it just worth trying to get a warranty replacement from ATT?
Same issues. Kind of. Digitalizer problems it seems.
Sorted kind of with a bit of tape near the fingerprint scanner. Seems loose connection is causing it

I'm having largely the same issue, can it be fixed by re-seating the digitizer or do we need a new one
Update: THe biggest issue i am noticing is that the top 10th or so of my screen is not responsive. So i can't pull down the notification bar, and access a lot of other important items in that area of the screen. it's just a very specific area that doesn't respond on the screen

It's a bad digitizer, definitely. You need to buy a new one and get it replaced.
Ever since the recent update, the touch screen seems less sensitive and slightly out of calibration.
anyone know how to re-calibrate the touch screen?

I would try this..
Go to settings, then language and input, then Samsung keyboard settings, then handwriting, then recognition time. This may or may not solve your problem but it's worth a shot!

My issue as of late is that when I click on small links surrounded by other links on a web page using the stylus, an adjacent link often opens. I am using the hover-dot for the stylus, and both it and the tip of the stylus hit the link that I want, but it actuates another one. The work-around is that I have to double-tap-zoom the screen and tap the link I want, then I can zoom back out.
Anyone else having this problem?
JC
I am also using the zoom feature to open the links. It's a bit annoying, but a workaround...for now
Hey, I still am on the very first version of the note firmware because I don't want to screw up s note.
I get the problem you are describing once in a while, specially if the tablet hasn't been rebooted for days. My solution is a simple reboot and then the responsiveness of the touch is perfect again.
Also to mention is another issue which I get after a few days once in a while, the screen resolution all of a sudden seems messed up. The colors turn out weird and u can see definately more pixels. Maybe the display improving system of the note screen gets turned off some how and i get the pure 1280x800 screen. Luckily a reboot also fixes this. Also both issues happen very very rarely, maybe once a week.

I've found mine doing this too, however it's done it twice in the four days I've had it, it's making me think about exchanging and/or sending it back. Mine is an N8000 International 3G one.
My new Note too

I got a new Note 10.1 about a month ago (July 2013) and I believe it already had the updated version. The touch worked perfectly for about two weeks then - bang - can't touch link at all if it's small, can't get right link if they are close... Sometimes I don't know if I'm trying to touch a link that's "grayed out" or if I'm having a touch problem. I've even had to rub at a link to get it to work. But the keyboard and system buttons seem to work fine???????? How bad do dry hands/fingers affect touch?

Today i was watching video on YouTube and play store was updating some apps in background. Within 10 seconds YouTube app crashed so i closed the app and suddenly my screen started to twitch (homescreen stuck between page 1 and 2 and constantly moving back and forward). i hit power button once and wake it again then i realized that i was unable to complete my lockscreen pattern because it was loosing the touch between 2 dots. i restarted the phone hoping it would start to work again but the problem was still there. i read on the internet that it could be because of the water contact. so now i disassemble my N4 and put it in bag with lot of silica gel pouches. I'm gonna reassemble it tomorrow hoping i that it will solve the issue. my phone is out of warranty now and I've already replaced my screen 3 times before during warranty period for various reasons.
anyone has any suggestions? please comment
before putting it in the bag i updated my official CM rom to latest nightly but problem was still there.

Sell it for parts. Mine has 1/4" stripe across the top of the screen which doesn't respond, effectively eliminating any hope of using the status bar, notification drawer, or any buttons at the top of the screen in apps, like menu, etc.
Same as you, it just happened one day. One minute it was fine, and the next that portion of the screen stopped responding for good.
The only solution is to use xposed with the app settings module for a force 4 way rotation, system-wide, and rotate that damn phone like crazy, every time you need to click that dead spot....which will literally drive you to buy a new phone, like it did me.

Mine is right middle of the screen
There was no contact with water neither do i dropped it then How the heck this happen?
That's terrible, sorry! I haven't even bothered looking for a replacement screen because I've heard rumors it's a common main board issue. I don't want to spend that kind of money just to find out the screen wasn't the issue.
I've a touch screen issue too... Seems common, but I've got a new one for 12€

Story of my life ):
I got the same problem, one minute before it was working fine, the next minute it started ghost touches. I restarted but was of no help. At the time, only the touch screen height equals nav buttons was not responding, I installed pie, but the dead area kept on expanding and now is about half of bottom screen. I've been rotating my phone and trying to keep up for last 2-3 months.
