If you have astro file manager you can enable browser downloads in settings, if that is what your having issues with.

Does anyone know why my evo is telling me the file I'm trying to download isn't supported on my phone? Im running the vaelpak rom and was trying to download an mp3. It has done it before when I tried to download an apk file. Thanks for any insight

Don't know why it some times says that but I've had that happen to me before but just go ahead and download it anyways. U shouldn't have a problem. I never have.
It will not download. It automatically stops the download and on my notifications bar it says download unsuccessful??

Anyone? Im still facing this issues.
Sounds like it's trying to open the file, rather than just save it, and it can't find an associate program to open it with... try a different browser, like Dolphin HD instead of stock, and see if that will let you download the file and actually save it rather than trying to open it.
Is there any way to get rid of this restriction with the zip files and other files as well.

Hi,
I don't know of a native method of removing that restriction, but the free app Byte Tornado downloader integrates with the browser and allows almost any file to download directly to the phone.
I hope that helps.

download Astro from the market or appbrain then you can download zip files and extract the apk files from the zip. It's also a great utility app to manage files and backup applications.
I use opera browser to download files. It how's never given me any problems.

Sadly the stock browser restricts a lot of downloads: .zips (and many .apk's if not all).
Probably there to "protect" itself.
But any third party web browser
(Dolphin HD or Opera) can do those kinds of files.
That is if you don't wish to use a download manager app.
Hope this helped someone!

I love that the Honeycomb Gallery app allows for caching Picasa photos offline. I have yet to find a phone app that does it. Would it be possible to pull the app off my tab and load it on my phone? If so how?
Thanks.
You can extract it from the deodexed ROM in the development forum and try that. Download the ROM, unzip, find the apk and load it onto your phone's SD

great idea i will try that now. thanks.
Didn't work. Phone says it can't open it as an apk file.
Is your phone rooted? If so, back up your existing gallery sol (just in case), then use a root file explorer to move the new gallery into /system/app
