Anything I download on the market gets stuck at the "starting download" phase. I have tried Googling answers and nothing is working for me.
My market was fine before I applied the OTB test4 ul 1300 then updated back to my OTB 1.1 lv 1200 , which was stable for me, due to freezing issues with that test4. Any help would be greatly appreciated. . .

Try clearing data/cache for the market.
Did you uninstall Google talk services or anything else similiar besides the actual app? Because that breaks the market downloading.

I used to have this problem all the time and it seemed like it was something different that fixed it on each occasion. Try clearing all market data and cache. Try backing up the APK, uninstalling it, and again clearing data/cache before replacing it. At the worst, use Titanium Backup and start over from scratch.

Ahh crap guys... I'm at work and yeah I've tried clearing the cache. I didn't uninstall anything recently either... what's this APK? I could teach myself how to do what the last poster said if I was pointed in the right direction.
Much love

My market is currently broken too with the exact same situation... I have reflashed the ROM and Kernel with no luck... And have also messed with cleaning the cache... I cant download Titanium backup currently from the market and I'm out of energy to try that until the morning but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
I often have problems with this but I find that being on wifi really helps. If that's not available then if I start then stop the download it eventually will go through.

I fixed it in my case by reinstalling rom with caution

vending.apk -- the application file itself which is located in /system/app/. You can back it up by using the adb pull command if you're familiar with adb, or just copy it to your phone's SD card using Root Explorer or terminal commands.

They are system apps and need to be either a) pushed to /system/app via adb, or b) copied to /system/app using a root-enabled file explorer on the phone (i.e. Root Explorer).
You dont need it he's using a different device I think but if you really need it it goes in system app

RE: Camera.apk
Hi all, I came across this thread because my camera on my epic 4g is broken. It's not a hardware issue, or a rom issue (broken on stock and on CM7), so I thought i would reinstall the camera firmware and app to try to fix it. I have a rooted device running CM7 and copied this to the system/app folder, changing the files to .apk. However, when I try to install either app using ES File Explorer, it gives me an error that just says app not installed. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Usually you push system apps to the phone and reboot and they are installed.

These apk's won't work on cm7. This is for the touchwiz camera, and probably for EC05.

Thanks, that explains it. In that case, any suggestions on how I can get my camera to work on CM7? I've dl'd some 3rd party camera apps, the only one that seems to work is retro camera (and that breaks after taking one photo). The rest say someone about com.android.camera failing or just failing to load the camera application. Thanks again.

Could be some bad data causing it. I recommend downloading CM7 beta1 again, gapps again, and flashing them. If that doesn't fix it, then wipe data and flash again. You'll lose all of your data yes, but that could erase the culprit behind your camera. If it still doesn't work on a clean CM7 flash, then it is most likely a hardware issue of some kind.

So I backed up my phone, then cleared the cached and formatted the phone. Then I reinstalled CM7 and it didnt work. I restored my original CM7 and the camera still didnt work.
However, it seems like the camerafirmware.apk is working (at least it seems so). 3rd party camera apps are working now, though it doesnt seem like camera.apk installed the stock camera app. Thanks all for the help and the apk files!
I just flashed over to the nameless Rom and when I went to run my batch of apps from titanium Rom manager was gone. I tried to download from the market but it keeps coming up unsuccessful. Checked all apps to see if I could remove it and then reinstall but its not there. Any thoughts?

Do you see the app in the "nameless" folder?
Good call my friend. Interesting layout with this Rom. Kinda like it just got to get used to it.

Aye it is
RM is not the current version however. If you try to update via the market it will fail. I uninstalled via TB and re DL it.
I've searched for the Fascinate, and attempted a few fixes mentioned for other Androids as well....to no prevail. I have cleared teh cache in several different folders, rebooted the phone......and tried a few other things as well. I did notice that if I try to open Google Talk, it comes up immediately saying it can't open and FC's.
I did disable Google Talk with Root Explorer, but after searching.....found out that this is the actual cause of why I can't update. I guess the real question is.....do I just need to reinstall Google Talk, or what? If I can't DL from Market, I know I can download the APK and install it through the computer. Just wanted to double check before I did that.....see if anyone else has done the same before.
TIA
Bueller?

Thanks to MyronJ906 for the start of this. FINALLY!! Anyone who's having trouble with My Apps not showing in the Market, here's what did it for me. To get Market to show My Apps, change the following in build prop. (I used prop editor via ROM Toolbox.)
Changed:
Code:
ro.build.id=4.5.133
ro.product.manufacturer=motorola
ro.build.product=olyatt
ro.build.description=olympus-user 2.3.5 4.5.133 111012 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=MOTO/olyatt/olympus:2.3.5/4.5.133/111012:user/release-keys
to
Code:
ro.build.id=4.5.91
ro.product.manufacturer=Motorola
ro.build.product=olympus
ro.build.description=olympus-user 2.3.4 4.5.91 110625 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=MOTO/olyatt/olympus:2.3.4/4.5.91/110625:user/release-keys
ro.buildversion.release=2.3.4
I had this problem when I was using the 2.3.4 BLUR ROMs (retail UK, wet dream, etc). These problems made be rollback (or rollforward depends on how you see it) to CM7 week4 rom.
Will flash a blur ROM to test this and report my results.
Cheers!!
Flashed retail UK ROM (SBF), have the "market problem".
Apply the change to build.prop, no luck.
delete data & cache from market app, no luck.
wipe data & cache, no luck.
Flash Wet Dream 1.3 lite, modify build.prop,
clear market data & cache, restart.
still doesn't work
Cm7 redpill. This did not work. I even had the problem with cm9

I don't have problem on CM7/9 (touch wood). but I have problem with all blur based roms.
In my case, I managed to fix it by
1) Uninstall Preset 1.0 using Titanium Backup
2) Clear Data from Market
I compared the CM7 market database and Blur market database, found com.motorola.contacts.preloaded in the blur version, but not in the CM7 version, and traced it back to the Preset 1.0.
i just download something from the market and all they appear again...
do you mean, without making any change at all?

Will try this but went from Cm7 to CM9 and still the same bullocks.
Edit Cannot find preset 1.0 maybe cause im on C9 but looked at all system files on system files using Tit back
check the market database, see if there is anything likely to caus problem.
preset 1.0 is only in the blur roms.

Weird, I cleared data on market and froze updator as well as cleared its data. Loaded market, as soon as I accepted I hit my apps and my apps populated. I could update and did update an app. I closed the market, reopened, went to my apps and the same old thing happened.

one of your app is causing this issue. when you wipe data from market, it rebuild market links from apps on your device.
after you wiped the data and check back to the arket, it is still busy building the database, that is why it worked for a short period of time.
look in data\data\com.android.vending\database
the market database is there. if you can find the app causing the issue and remove it, you can get your apps showing again.

just to add, the app might not be what you have downladed, it might be something in the rom.

Thanks but couldnt find problem in databases. Will wipe and restore in batches.

News; found the culprit, warez app (blackmart) don't use it anyway since I've spent like $100 bucks on apps. I like the updates. All is well now. Thanks
OK title kinda says it all. I have 4.28 GB left on my 16gb n7 trying to install a couple apps from apk files. I'm getting a warning that it can't install due to not enough memory and the n7 requests that I remove apps. The files don't go over 40mb in total so I'm confused as hell as to why its telling me I'm short non file space.
I tried fixing permissions clearing cache and dalvik but no luck. Anyone have a clue as to why it thinks this.
Running stock 4.2 unlocked rooted with trinity kernel.

It might be b/c when the apps you're going to install will be updated in the future and the N7 has a built in limit in other words the apps will go beyond the limit good luck and GOD BLESS YOU Oh yeah you might have to bite the bullet and delete some other apps

You probably have a left over .odex file for an app left in /system/app
Titanium backup has an option to look for orphaned dalvik files as well.
I had the same issue. I downloaded "Lucky Patcher" (google it) and went to Menue>Troubleshooting>Remove fixes and backups
That fixed the problem for me.
I have the same issue. I'm trying different approaches. About the post above... It won't let me install lucky patcher either. I'll try doing it in adb next.

I had the same problem and tried several things to fix.. The only solution to the problem was to indeed use Lucky Patcher... Use it to clear and then reboot and back to happy application installation...

It's because you have orphaned Odex files in system/app or data/app
Naughty naughty. Usually created by a cracked app.
Lucky Patcher makes the Problem go.
The Trick with using lucky patcher worked! Thanks man! I had the same Problem.
