This must be a joke.
Navigation in maps 5.0.0 is broken. It is "checking for navigation availability" constantly.
The only fix seems to be uninstalling the Maps update in Market Place, which is also broken as of the 2.7.7 update. It FCs on anything.
Many people are relying on Navigation to get around this holiday. Both signature apps are broken.
Not broken I had the same issue you have to open gmaps before navigation will work. Hope it helps

Not broken..
I have Vending_2.2.7.apk (Market), and Maps 5.0.0.
And work flawlessly ever since a manual software update.
Depends also the kernal or rom you use. Maybe i dont know... i updated to Netarchy 4.2.1 and everything works on my Evo HD rom...

That worked for me! I did a bit of research and was lead to believe that the Navigation was a widespread problem for which the only solution was deleting the file data or rolling back the update, neither of worked for me. Thanks for the tip!

I can't rule out the rom being the problem. I'm using Fresh 3.5.0.1. My research lead me to believe the problem is widespread among Evo devices. I'll check back in the thread for Fresh to see if they have come up with a solution yet.
Glad I could help I had just flashed to cm6 and had that issue just glad I was able to spread the little bit of knowledge I have.

Sometimes when i started the Navi, it would force quit. Got to work a couple times, but i think the update screwed it up. Using the Sprint Lovers ROM.

i revisited the instructions for the Fresh 3.5.0.1, followed the notes for the Market FC problem and fixed the problem!
i got caught up in the discussion on the thread, thinking that the first post wasn't state of the art. i was wrong.
moral of the day: try the instructions before doubting.
Ive had problems regarding installing apks and flashing things.. thats why im always reading various posts regarding the same exaxt instructions..
The 2.2.7 market apk was leaked before the update, so i downloaded it and used Astro to Upgrade the market..

Where's the new Android Market update? I see all of the pictures of the new Market on the tech blogs, but no update love for our Epics? Granted, I'm still on 2.1.1, but what's the deal, yo? Froyo only?
Not sure how they are pushing it out. It isn't just for froyo though. I finally got it yesterday on stock 2.1.

Make sure all of your apps are up to date, it doesn't seem to take unless you have updated everything that has an update in the market.
I got mine after I cleared up remaining updates on both versions (could just be coincidence, but i see merit behind it)
Mine just got updated today... kind of strange as I booted into the old one... was using it and then all of a sudden it was the new one.

I have the Baked snacks rom and it works pretty good but I can't wait for the official Froyo I installed the dk-28 but it was a bit to buggy for me btu great battery life.
I did the manual update for the market and when I did that I noticed that there wasn't a section for widgets like promised. I just went to my market and now there is so that's pretty cool I must have gotten it and not noticed it. And a section for live wallpapers too!!

Is there a manual update for the market somewhere. My epic does not seem to be getting it.

Opened up the market and saw that I now have the updated version. Wasn't asked to update.
Is it laggy for anyone else? Doesn't force close but seems unresponsive and it seems like it chokes the network. Takes forever to download an app. Maybe it's just me. I even rebooted. Even after reboot, when I try to browse the market, my phone just freezes...
got the update here too. wasn't asked. its laggy as hell. glitchy as hell.
wtf?
im stock.
You have to leave background data on and I would turn auto sync on too for a bit. Open the market and hit the home key so it doesn't close it should do its thing.

I got mine about a week ago by flashing from CWM. However, if you have Titanium Backup you can force the new update out of ram and have it integrate back into rom.
Well, we all know by now that Netflix streaming isn't working with Gingerbread + Sense on our Evos, but now it looks like Netflix pulled the app entirely from the market for us. I've tried searching for it on my phone, and it doesn't show up. When I searched for it in the market on my computer, it says my device isn't compatible.
I hope this means they took it down to fix it, not that they're dropping support for us completely...
Netflix has already told us they are working on a fix. Check twitter or call them. Guy on phone told me their engineers are working with HTC to get this resolved.
I noticed that too, I figured there will be an update soon or theres a bug in the app.
Yeah, it was on there long enough for me to install it, now it's not on there, or on my list of installed apps.
And when an app isn't compatible with the os version you are running it wont show up in your app catalog. The are 3.0 only apps and apps that aren't available in the US that we never see.

haha i didn't update and checked and its gone even from my market.
thankfully still works. I'd imagine by the time my rom gets the update netflix will have the fix in place. Shouldn't take them too long to fix the app. It's clearly a Netflix problem as their app checks the device before allowing streaming to work. Would think that since they are currently specific to device and OS combo's that they only need to add the EVO on 2.3.3 to the accepted list in a sense....
Yeah, Evo is removed now under list of compatible devices.
Thursday... i tried a GB+sense3 ROM... i found the Netflix app in the market.
but was not able to try it.. due to bad data connection.
because of other issues... i went back to WarmZ (froyo with sense)
just checked to see.. and netflix is not there!
glad i still have it

There is a GPS driver fix that is linked throughout the Deck ROM thread. It works really well. I'll see if I can find it and link it for you, but if you want immediate results search through that thread and you'll find it. The dude who made it keeps it updated too, so I flashed his driver every time I flashed ROMs.

I just got mine updated to .24 as well. I checked the official ASUS development thread and it was reported to be a few days out, but I guess Google approved it, didn't enforce the quality check, or ASUS just went ahead and released it. Anyway, let's see how much of this firmware is a fix to the reboot problem.
One should do a cold boot after updating. See asus Facebook thread.

I downloaded the .24 firmware and went to install and got halfway thru and got droid on his back with the yellow triangle.Rebooted and when i unlocked a window popped up and said DM CLIENT has stopped.I went to settings apps ,manage apps pressed all to show all apps went to DM CLIENT cleared data then forced close and rebooted. After reboot went to settings about tablet check updates and got the .24 firmware update and pressed to install and the update went in smooth as silk.Just posting this incase anyone has this problem. Mine might have come from that i waas rooted on .17 and went back to stock for .21 because ota rootkeeper didn't work and when i cleared that and installed stock .17 and updated to stock .21 ....so hope this helps someone
Hmm..of all the things people are experiencing, Gmail crashing is the one thing not happening to me at all (on any release).

Gmail has always been fine for me too. The only real issue I have had is the RR's and only in deep sleep. Until the last patch (.21), they were always clean. Since then any RR I have gotten has resulted in a boot loop or frozen at the Asus logo. If I run WakeLock, no RR's at all. So heres hoping .24 will fix the one issue. I will add .24 did not break my root either.....applied the patch, restored root, did a cold reboot, turned off WakeLock and all is well....so far.

It's a hardware revision problem. Some people experience force closes in applications like GMail due to (I suspect) a memleak in the GPU driver. Lots are effected by it but don't notice it unless they do a lotta stuff in gmail. Others have no issue.

Hi guys, does this update fix the problem where you can't wake the TF101 with the keyboard dock's keypress (with the power saving feature disabled)? Since ICS was released up till the last update, this feature has been broken and it was working very well in HC but broken since ICS was out for the TF101 - is it working now (or has it been working before for anyone in ICS for TF101)?
I haven't rooted yet, so I'm just sideloading the latest 7.5 version of Google Maps on my HDX (14.3.1). It installs fine and when run displays the base map normally, however all the labels are unreadable. It looks as if they are overwriting themselves. All other functionality works as expected, but the map is basically unusable in this state.
I'm wondering if anyone else is using Google Maps on an 8.9 HDX? I'm hoping to not have to root right away, but I know I will eventually. Unfortunately there isn't another good mapping app so getting this working is key to me. Thanks in advance,
Steve

I have the same issue with the 7" HDX. There is a better Mapquest app on 1Market (better than the one in the Amazon app store) that works pretty well.

It's good to hear it's not just my HDX, maybe there's a chance it will be fixed. I tried the latest Mapquest and it's pretty good, but I still prefer Google Maps. So far out of 30 Google Play apps it's the only one with any major issues.
Steve

I also noticed Maps wants to install Google Play Services when you attempt to set the current location (GPS on my LTE version). I was able to sideload GP services, but that didn't resolve the problem.
Does anyone have Google Maps working on an HDX, rooted or unrooted? Updates to Maps haven't helped so far, but maybe an update to the Kindle OS?

I found some old versions of Maps on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357873
However, none of them seemed to fix the problem of the app not showing street names or overwriting names to where you can't read them. This is REALLY frustrating as I use google maps a lot and this bug makes it practically unusable.
I've gone back as far as version 6.8 and I still see the label overwrite problem. One thing I noticed is after I install and run Maps for the first time, I see the message "Updated to latest version". It seems as if Maps gets an online update the first time it connects to the server. If that's what happens there may not be anyway to install an old version.

I have the same issue on my HDX 7 -- and have also tried other versions of Maps.
However, I am running Cpajuste's AOSP 4.2 rom on one of my slots and the Google Maps rendering works fine!
Therefore, it would "appear" to be an issue with the Amazon OS.
