There aren't any true AOSP roms that work on EITHER the D2 or the DX. Obsidian/Tanzanite isn't ready, Ultimate Droid isn't ready, and last I heard Matt on Epic Unleashed was giving up on android for a while...

CM is non-tweaked AOSP. With that being said, there are some ROM building tuts over in the "ROM Developer Education" forum. Also, you should check out XDA-University.

This thread is OLD. The Defy already has a lollipop port, so getting lollipop shouldn't be a problem.
I seriously recommend you guys fix your device tree so that it build correctly.

You have to wait patiently... Alpha builds will release soon
Check out the g4 forum. There is a build of CM13 being worked on. Give it time, the device is still very new.

In my opinion AOSP ROMs are better than CM based. I have tried almost every ROM for Moto X Style / Pure
There are only 2 which I liked most.
1) BrokenOS (Substratum Theme engine)
2) Dirty Unicorns (CM theme engine )
Happy Flashing
Another vote for du. Best ROM I've tried. I'm more of a cmte kind of guy though. Didn't really like substratum.

Pure Nexus is also good but if you going for substratum based ROM I will recomend you BrokenOS.
Battery life on BrokenOS is good as compared to Pure Nexus
Chop chop works on Broken OS

I find it to be the most stable and best battery life compared to 6.0.1 ROMS. I don't have to go through battery tweeking or screen dpi changes/dimming to keep my phone running for the day.
