It would be nice to confirm any/all differences between the Ideos S7 and the T-Touch Tab which is a rebranded version available through Telstra in Australia.
Does anyone have a comparison available, so far I am under the impression that the T-Touch Tab does NOT have the 8GB SDCARD soldered to the mainboard, however it may just be my ineptitude at finding it.

Same device, except you are correct, does not have the internal 8 Gb card and it has an altered ROM.
Also, some but not all have a compass instead of GPS.

huh, glad I got a GPS one, it says GPS on the box, and google maps works and the GPS icon shows in the top bar, seems strange they would have a compass-only version... like why manufacture 2 different devices, or is it a production fault maybe?
I think the only difference is the internal memory card. I am running the US ROM on mine and it is stable and everything works.

It has been highlighted to me that the american one charges from USB, where as I had to make a special cable to charge mine from USB, can this be confirmed at all?
I mean, can you charge the American huawei S7 tablet with just the USB plug inthe computer and the microusb plug in the unit itself.
No you can't!

I think it's the European or EMEA version. What those holes are though, I don't know.
On this link, under Tech Specs, it also says microSD up to 32GB: http://www.samsungmobilepress.com/2011/03/22/GALAXY-Tab-10.1

That's the pre production ver, the retail ver have the holes covered. Its just a screw on the prototype unit "unpolished". http://futurezone.at/mmedia/2011-05-13/2510_fz4.jpg
I belief samsung removed the micro sd since HC doesn't support it nativity and they can use that excuse to lower the cost of the tab. Anyway i hope i was wrong.
And the tech specs on that samsung site is out updated since march (still android 3.0), here's the new one http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxytab/10.1/spec.html 3G no micro sd.
And here the http://www.samsung.com/us/microsite/galaxytab/index.html on the FAQ they say no SD slot i assume they meant micro sd slot. Since before they update to this page, on the comment lots of people ask about micro sd slot. Once page updated the FAQ say no sd slot.

It says Android 3.0 on many websites, not unusual to find errors like that. That could go for the microSD part as well of course. My source is www.samsungmobilepress.com yours is samsung.com.
I'd say it's not definate either way.

If there are no microSD and THAT is the reason, then the devs are not too bright imo. There is a big difference in file transfer speed, wouldn't you say?
Yes, I totally agree with the speed difference. Also not good for those of us on capped 3G and also capped broadband services.
This was where I saw mention of the cloud service, it say's it unconfirmed but time will tell.

As for the samsungmobilepress its old march 22, 2011. The one on samsung.com is updated a week ago only, before its update giving info like the one in samsungmobilepress.com but now the info is change.

over 10+ 10.1 tab on the floor only one got the micro sd but they type it out
http://www.thaiandroidphone.com/data/attachment/forum/201106/02/161843baz77qn78z7fyjq7.jpg I did talk to the employee and they are pretty sure the retail ver won't have micro sd that's why the have to type it out.
I preorder the 3G ver on the show and they say the earliest is june 30 but will prolly be out on july-aug. I know this suck I myself would love for it to have micro sd. Hope samsung will notice how important it is to have micro sd and do it right before they release it.
Bit of a grey area here but ..
Brought my note from Handtec, Came in the "Blue" box however not sure what country. UK plug and english manual.
Was told by Handtec that it comes with NFC but no support in UK. Well I am in Australia. Had a look through the apps but cannot see any related to NFC.
Support here is not that great either but would be nice to see some sort of functionality.
Tips?

A: The phone does support NFC, however, Samsung have informed us that NFC will not work in the UK yet as it has not been implemented here yet.

Any applications that can start to interface with NFC?
If NFC is in the phone it would work in any country depending on which apps and tags you have for it.
there's no NFC, download z-device test from the market and see for yourself, there's no NFC sensor and no temperature sensor

Android Beam. Google it or better youtube it.
In all the specs I have read, NFC is listed as "Optional"
I do not believe that any European Galaxy Note devices have NFC. I would have liked it as although there is not much use of it here in the UK I suspect that things will change in the next year or so.
Apart from ICS, this is the only thing that might have persuaded me to choose the Galaxy Nexus over the Note. The Note card slot will be more useful to me than NFC so that's why I went for the Note.

Yup. The UK Note does not have an NFC chip in it, and AFAIK neither do any of the European ones - simply because NFC isn't big enough in the EU yet to warrant inclusion (and the higher price that would bring).
However it may be included in models for other markets (perhaps Korea or Japan, idk) where this would make sense.

International maybe means that they have a standard micro USB .
Factory Outlet Store is selling the S5 and has models in stock right now. Pricing is a little high compared to what it will cost from TMOBILE or ATT - $799 - but they are unlocked and will ship in two days.
What seems odd to me is that they say the model is SM-G900 and don't mention a letter at the end? The sales floor at their site doesn't know but I guess it will be printed on the box if anyone buys it from them,.
What I am not certain about is how universal the International Versions will be - I assume they will all be very similar - but any difference in file structure could potentially lead to a brick -
I have never considered buying an international phone in the US before - has anyone here got any experience they can share good or bad with other phones?
*(Edited this after realizing the stupidity of my original question - I can really be a noob sometimes...)
I agree with you in regards to the model number.
On websites like kogan and mobicity for me, in Australia, they don't even say SM G900. they just say Galaxy S5 LTE Model.
I think the model codes will become much clearer once the device is officially on sale. This is one of the reasons why i am slightly afraid to buy now, because i might buy a slightly less popular model with less dev support.
EDIT: sorry, i completely derped out, but i also meant to say that it is not clear exactly which model is the international model, so you should just wait out a little longer.

Well, a little more research seems to indicate that the European Internation Version is SM-G900H - and from what I have been able to see - that is the model number offered by several web sites that are selling it and shipping now.
Something else ODD that I have seen - Most of these sites - EVEN SAMSUNG - lists the S5 as only having up to 64GB of MicroSD Storage. I checked the Samsung site tonight to see if there were differnt models with different micro sd sizes - and I was very surprised to see that Samsung had the phone listed as having up to 64 GB micro SD - where all the materials I have seen up to this point has said it has up to 128 GB.
I wonder is it possible that Samsung Changed their mind and did 128 after they released the original material or will different versions of the phone offer different amounts of Micro SD Storage? very ODD -

Yes, that is what I meant - actually, I should have said "western european" version - but then I am just making some assumptions based on what I have read on a number of different web sites - from Sammy mobile - to Samsung - to various Online Electtroics sites to Amazon.com and so on -
Patience is not one of my best virtues - but I will have to bide my tme and wait. I have a preorder for a TMOBILE phone but I got a feeling I am going to be sending it back - from everything I have read it appears more and more that TMOBILE has locked the bootloader on the S5 - I obviosly hope that is not the case - but time will tell....

it is almost certain that carrier branded versions will have a locked bootloader.
for the xperia z at least, bootloader unlocking is not possible for the t mobile versions. they don't even allow you to unlock it.
so you just have to watch out for that.

I know - that is why I am starting to look at buying an International version - they cost a little more than the Carrier versions - but they are compatible with ATT from what I have been told and they are definitely unlocked. The only thing I am struggling with is knowing which version they are selling - they call it the SM G900 - but other sites call it SM G900H - which according to Sammy is the European version -

I contacted mobicity recently and they said the international version was called the SM G9005.
dunno if i can be certain about that though. But yeah, as you said before, you're a patient person so that will come in handy
EDIT: couldn't find anything on the SM G9005 :/ only found a bunch of leaks from january
Whatch out it's a fake!!
Hi, I'm not trying to pun on anyone, but I bought a SM - G900 (*no letter after it), it is an international phone, it is factory unlocked, works with a micro SIM, I have a 30 Gb micro SD card in it, rooted, making phone calls and connecting to the internet via my provider's data plan (Ultra Mobile) and through wifi, but here's the truth about this phone!:
* It says that it has 16 Gb of internal storage (BIG FAT LIE!), even though I says that in the settings, you will fill it up with a couple of applications, and it will quickly state that there's not enough space, I connected it to my computer using MKT drivers, and it still shows those 15.something Gb, but the files in it just take about 3, including the ROM, and it says I only have 500 MB left.
* There's supposed to be a 1.27 Gb phone storage (1.27? Really? not 2 Gb, not one, but 1.27), and that fills up pretty fast too. And displays it as an internal SD card in the file browser.
* I added a 30 Gb micro SD card, I actually purchased this card specially for this phone ... Which now it's just a waste of money, it mounts, but, when I installed Link2Sd on the phone, it just keeps transferring the applications from the internal to the phone storage to the phone storage itself, I tried formatting the card as ext4, ext3, ext2, swap and it keeps getting reformatted to fat32 every time the phone detects it, it says that the sd card is damaged and needs to be formatted, so you're pretty much stuck to whatever the real storage amount the phone has. I even tried making a 2nd partition with Mini Partition tool and Aparted, but then, the phone doesn't mount the 2nd partition, only the first one.
* The pictures and videos taken from the camera, can automatically go to the sd card, but they get corrupted after a reboot with no option of recovering them, **ssed me of because I had taken a video of my 2 yr old son saying "I love you daddy".
* It is rooted, but not through a custom rom or anything like it, I mean, IT ALREADY CAME WITH A CUSTOM ROM! So it was already rooted, I tried One Click Root and the application said that the phone was successfully rotted, but Super User had not been installed on it, downloaded SU from play store, only to find out that the phone already had root acces, just had to install SU to give apps permissions.
* The screen mirroring on Samsung smart Tv's doesn't work, it's not even picked up as a media device when connected through USB to it.
* The battery literally dies after only 3 hours of use (as opposed to the battery life on the real S5) without any low battery warning.
* The smart pause and smart scroll doesn't work correctly, the videos pause as you are watching them and the scroll actually makes the screen twitch.
* Cannot download any Samsung apps to it BECAUSE IT'S NOT REALLY SAMSUNG!
* Doesn't come with the Samsung Navigator, you have to download google maps, and, at least to me, Samsung navigator is better.
* Driving mode NEVER enables, even if you enable it manually or put it in a dock.
* IT IS NOT WATERPROOF!
* IT IS NOT A RUGGED PHONE!
* CANNOT flash another custom rom to it (or at least I have been afraid to do it) because there seems to be nothing compatible with it and don't want to turn it into a brick.
* The IMEI on the phone DOESN'T exist on the IMEI check list!
* Even though I had to use the MKT drivers to connected to the computer, I tried the original S5 drivers and it doesn't connect, and the mass storage driver never installs succesfully, so no mass storage device driver for it.
* Custom recovery? Well, it already comes with one ... IN CHINESE! So you really can tell what to click without erasing the phone.
* Stock recovery ... it does have it, so you press the volume up button and the power on button at the same time, and you get the dead android logo, then you press volume up again along with the home key and you get into the stock recovery, but can't partition from there ... lame.
* No gorilla screen on this one.
* It cost me $300.00 usdlls, which is not fair, the phone does exactly the same and works the same as a $50 - $100 usdll phone.
* It is a replica, there's no original Samsung anything in it, even tried Samsung live support (the one that you can see the live representative through google hangouts) and the guy said ... literally ... and I quote: "I'm sorry, I can't give out any support for your phone because that serial number is incorrect (I sent him the picture of the sn from the sticker inside the phone), the IMEI doesn't exist and Samsung doesn't make a SM - G900 model, it has to have a letter at the end of this for identification", and then he just closed the session, without any further explanation, just like that, without noticing me that the support session had to be closed.
End point being: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!
Got the 64gb international version from gearbest last week to replace my Nexus 6 ( previously phones Sony Z Ultra, Huawei Mate 7, Galaxy Mega previously, Dell Streak). Best phone so far by a long shot. 4G Telstra works fine here in Australia with this model.
Build quality is great and got an OTA update this morning which was a surprise, wasn't expecting much from a Chinese phone after my experience with Huawei. Put Google Now launcher on because its what I am use to which works fine.
Only complaints are the lack of Australia in the region list which means I get an American accent on Google Maps. Screen is a bit washed out compared to the OLED Nexus 6 but that sucked in the day light where as the Mi Mix 2 is heaps better out doors. I need a good out door screen for my drone flying and the Mi Max does a great job.
Honestly thought I would have more issues with this phone but its great and cheap too.
thanks for the review. Can you kindly confirm if the sd card when inserted is working nicely?
sd card work great as well as battery
I too ordered the international 64gb version, just unpacked it and damn... A worthy replacement for my Nexus 6. Prior to that, I checked the wiki and contacted my mobile operator just in case and two out of three bands for LTE work with this phone in Estonia (Northern EU).
Ok a week in now and oh boy is this a great phone, battery is phenomenal!!! Not sure about the SD card, I don't need one with 64gb on board.
Navigation bar button lights were irritating when reading using the Kindle app at night but just disabled them for the kindle Kindle app in the settings, too easy.
10/10 so far for me, a Xiaomi convert.

I actually did have a problem with the SD card. It worked fine on my old phone (Sony C5 Ultra), and my computer could read the data too. But the Xiaomi told me it was corrupt. Switched it back to the Sony and it was fine, so whatever the issue was, was with Xiaomi. I copied all of the data to my PC, let Xiaomi re-format and then copied the data back. A little bit annoying, but had no issues with it since then. Maybe the phone cannot read some format types (ExFAT etc)?

Same with me, I think the phone can only read FAT32 or whatever, SD card works fine but only after phone re-formats.

global rom causes this. Use xiaomi.eu ROM and you won't have this issue.
I bought the 4gb/64gb Indian model. Looks and performs like any premium phone.

Hey mate, we have similar taste in phone. I can't agree more with what you said. I don't think that region option affect much to your phone functionality besides the bookmarks on the built-in browser, you can change the Google TTS voice from the language and input settings and change your voice to Australian or UK English.
Just got this baby to replace my Mi Max 1. I love huge phone, and this by far the best phone I've owned so far (Mi Max 1, Nexus 6, Z Ultra, LG V10, Samsung Note 4, Mediapad X2, Honor Note 8) the best thing is it's so cheap, 300 AUD shipped from Ali.
Black global, 64GB, Aldi mobile (Telstra), Vodafone Dual standby, and 128GB micro SD card altogether with the extension thingy.
Also, you're right, stay away from Huawei as far as possible. Total crap. (Honor Note 8 & Mediapad X2 owner here)
