Any picasa users out there? I know we can sync pics using the gallery, but I'm wondering why the Epic has difficulty with the picasa website using the default browser.
On my EVO, i can check everything out just like on my desktop browser (my albums, photos, slideshows, etc). On my Epic, i noticed that it just takes me to a nearly blank page. I thought maybe it's because the Epic has Android 2.1 and that it would be fixed with 2.2. Then I tried the same on the Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3 and it displays the same almost blank page.
Maybe it's forcing me to the mobile portal? Either way, is there any way around this to make it show up like on the EVO? Thanks.
Set your UAE string to desktop
in the browser type about:debug in the address bar, press enter, then go into settings - youll find it.
Please disregard this post. Thanks.
Just for others using picasa try picasa tool it works awsome.

Trying to download .rar files says "Cannot Download, The Content is not supported on this phone. " Anybody found a way around this? (Yeah we could all use our Pc's but seriously)
I remember this happening when I had the samsung moment and I sent that thing back.
Also. Has anybody found a way to turn off mobile Browsing? So annoying
TIA
Download astro file manager. In the settings for that program you can turn off browser restrictions on what files you can download.
I too would like to know how to disable mobile browsing on the default browser. I feel kind of stupid that I can't find the setting, but the more I look and don't find it, I'm beginning to think Samsung is stupid for removing the option...
My co-worker showed me how to do it. Type "about:debug" (without the " ")in the address bar then go to Settings and you'll have some new options at the bottom. Change the UAString from Android to Desktop and voila. Full desktop browsing experience.
Sometimes you just gotta dl stuff on the puter. Anyways, here's download crutch. People say get this program or that because it's built in. Here's the plugin without the program, just in case you don't have any need for the main program.

I have it on my phone but can't upload from it. I wish the devs would enable uploading from a browser.

wish I knew about this long ago! THANK YOU!
Edit: just realized this OP was from a while back, haha
ok, so a couple of questions about that "about:debug"
1. any way to get it to default to desktop? If you exit the browser you have to type and select it again
2. why is "iPhone browser" an option????
3. I no longer have dk28 installed (waiting for OTA froyo) but for those with working flash, will something like hulu work in full blown desktop mode (or iPhone mode)? My gut still says no, but when I visit hulu in iPhone mode it asks me to download the hulu application and in desktop mode it says nothing about being on android platform -- just that I don't have flash.

it dont work it says u need 10.0.32 also u could use skifire web browser from the app store it has flash built in.
Some websites that use browser detection don't properly recognize the android webkit browser. But they do recognize iphone. So to render some websites properly in a mobile view you can pretend your an iphone...luckily it doesn't turn you into a douche bag iphone user when activated.

I have Download All Files for downloading unsupported files. I went the Astro route for a bit, but I bought Root Explorer, so I didn't want Astro taking up space.
While browsing on here I noticed some sites that have mobile versions with no link to switch to desktop stay in mobile mode even when the user agent is changed to desktop. I wondered if this is a Sprint thing or Epic problem?

open your browser and type
"about:debug" w/o the quotes. then press enter. nothing on the screen will change, press menu> settings and choose user agent string

kill the browser task or restart your phone...

Tried that, killing the cache, uninstalling the other browsers, changing user agents on all other browser (before unistall).

Isn't this a cookies thing?
what site?
I do notice some sites still go to m.********.com
but sites like google and facebook dont seem to be an issue to me
try dumping the nav cache the cookies and if all else fails. Make a backup and restore to stock to see if it is a problem with your rom.
if it works on stock then ok. if not maybe there is a problem with your rom.
P.S.
dont forget to sign out of any site that you are signed into
I'm stock no root or custom yet(waiting for 2.2) but Chase website and Tube8(nsfw) among other flash based sites. Now I don't have flash but some sites offer flv/mp4 downloads which I can play.

I had this issue as well. Here's how I solved it
Type about:debut in the address bar then hit enter (you won't see it do anything)
Go to Settings, change UAString to Desktop
Check the option for Normal Rendering about 5 settings up
Now all sites come up in the full version for me.
thanks los...

Tried this, and BBC.com still reverts to the mobile site for me regardless.

Did that but it still goes to mobile on certain sites. I also recently tried using a frame like when you translate a page the url at the top is say google translate but you're somewhere else but couldn't find one that allows pages to load properly (the mentioned example being the mobile site lol and couldn't translate pages). Next thing for me to try is a web proxy but this method and the one before definitely won't serve me for practical use, so at this point I'm just seeing what works.

Just wanted to share a trick I discovered to delete the Verizon bookmarks from the browser, from within the browser.
Just visit the bookmark, then go into history, and delete the bookmark from there with a hold-press on the history entry. For some reason this worked, even though it wouldn't delete from the bookmarks screen.
NICE! Thanks!
Good work, dude.

Wouldn't work for me, so I just opened up skyfire and it allowed me to delete them just like any other bookmark.

Looks like we found two ways to do it. Good work guys.

Good work, but I was able to delete them like any normal bookmark from Dolphin.
Easiest way I found was to go to the bookmarks thumbnails, long press the bookmark and choose "Delete bookmark" from the popup menu.
hello. ive looked around the forums and havent found anything like my problem. My problem is that whenever i receive an mms, usually a picture, it becomes a video with a cation. like my friend today sent me a picture of his new skateboard and when i opened the messanging app, it shows the little video playback button, you know the little sideways triangle in a box, over a thumbnail of the picture. when i click it has a picture of the skateboard, it is a five second video of the picture that takes up a 1/4 of the screen in the top left corner with a black background and his message under the picture. then the "video" ends and takes me back to the menu of the messanging app. oh, and you cant interact with it like a picture, so no zooming in or panning. this happens with every picture and is becoming really annoying. any help appreciated! thanks!
ps: im on a tmo g2 on tmobile

Same thing happens to me. I don't think there's anything we can do about it though.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Maybe there's an alternateive messaging app?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Because I usually end up asking the sender to email it so I can view either the pic, sound file, video, etc.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
You're going to love this. Long tap on the "text" of that message. You should see an option "save attached to SD card." That option will save the pic to /sdcard/download. And the gallery app will pick that right up.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
Thanks! Its allot better than some "side show". Just wish you could view it straight from the messaging app instead of saving it but ill live, thanks! But is mine the only one that does the video thing?

Continuing this solved thread, I have another bug-like event:
when I send an MMS the messaging app "slows down". A lot. It takes 4-6 second for the app to open, typing letters are VERY slow.
I have to kill the messaging app and the it works fine again.
anyone else having this?

It's happened to me before. It seems it has more to do with the gallery, 3D gallery to be specific.
I'm using gingerbread (cyanogen 7.0 RC1) and I think gingerbread addresses this issue and displays it correctly unlike froyo.

I don't have a 3D gallery, so that shouldn't be the case.
After sending an MMS, it slows down my messaging app, I have to kill it, then it is good again.
I tried attaching a pic from a message, I have also tried tapping on a picture and share it as MMS, same thing happens.
