Hello,
I have a qeustion, might be a stupid one, but then again, im just a casual user.
I have used the Darkstone superRAM build, and im amazed by the speed and battery life with this build. (actualy everything with it is very good, exept the white status bar .. bleh).
What i would like to know, is there a way to convert the new Gingerbread to superRAM or is there some special coding of the kernel involved (probably)?
Also i have read something about changing android to add free, something with a host file, but cant seem to find it anymore.
And also i would like to know, with the superRAM there is a stock android build with the white status/notification bar, wich i dislike, cause black looks beter to me (dark theme wallpaper etc).
I have been reading alot of topics to change this, but most have alot of work (flashing with clockworks, wich i dont understand etc) with this, anyone a sollution how to change this?
Thanks.

first off, i'm still pretty much a n00b to android modding. and i'm giving up on hero cause i've just never had a rom work perfectly. So i downloaded GDE and i love it and gives me one of the features i wanted from hero. I can live without the bookmark widget that i love so much. so i've decided i want something stable and with 1.6 so CM it is.
So first things first outside of whats here: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/about is there any special SPL or other mod i have to do. Or do i have to put back an older SPL because i installed a hero rom?
2nd question. I'd really like an eclair icon theme (with all the new eclair icons) but with the HERO style notification bar. i tried searching but there were soo many and many were way to crazy. Basically all i want is just the eclair icons+hero bar.
Okay, now heres the part that i really need some help understanding. I know people ported some of the HTC apps to the G1, can this be done to CM on the mytouch? mainly these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515840 To have the hero gallery/camera/keyboard would be just down right amazing.
Also, even though i know the answer is probably no, is there anyway to get the HTC browser on CM?
Guess one last thing would be, anyway to get the hero lock screen for CM?
And thats that. If any of the answers are no, thats fine i'll still go to CM but i'm really hoping i can get as much hero as possible.
Thanks in advance.
40 views and 18 hours and no replies? kinda sucks.
Well i did a few things myself. apparently CM has the eclair icons now so that saved that trouble. Even though the market one dosn't have the icon unless i use bettercut it seems impossible to give it the icon casue metamorph keeps making the market crash.
found a nice hero style bar which i actually modified myself a bit. Nice to see you can modify the metamorph images before you use them.
But still can't find any answer to my last 3 questions. the haykuro apps, the htc browser, and the hero lock screen
So I just got this phone like 3 days ago. And I like it. But I'm ready to do something with it. I didn't get winmo to use basic winmo, let's put it that way .
So anyways, I've been searching and I've found a few roms that I think sound pretty good to try out.
But the main thing I'm wondering about are what tweaks to look at that people have found to be really useful.
Before I flash a rom, I'd really like to try out some different tweaks to like change the keyboard, speed up messaging, and heck, I don't know what else (I text a lot, lol).
So I'm just asking for some suggestions from the users out there. Like what tweak or whatever you used, and where I can find it. Thanks guys .
I'm going to tell you what every one told me when I asked what rom to use on my touch pro 2. Just try as many roms as you want and see which one you like best or fits you the best. people tent to like different thing so what you like other people might not like or want on their rom. Right now im using the stock rom since I feel that theirs not point to flash it at the moment their havent put out anything special in my opinion (no diss to the developers here you guys make this site what it is). I'm waiting for android to be ported or windows 7.
Ps. read the instructions carefully theirs a few people here that bricked their phone already
Yeah, I really don't want to brick this thing. And THANKS for the advice.
But moreso than just roms, what I'm really interested in is tweaks. Any suggestions there?
More and more roms are coming with the tweaks already added to them. I would say find the ROM first and then find the tweaks that haven't been implemented yet.
I've tried a few ROMS and I have found Kumars the best to my liking. Its the closet to the original look and feel of the HD2 when you first get it. I use Kumars along with BsB tweaks. BsB is super easy to use and is a really powerful tool.
Yeah, I'll have to look at those. I mean, the main reason I'm looking at tweaks more is because I do like the HD2 Interface. There's just some small stuff that bugs me.
But I'll have to look more into some of the roms to really see what I want there as well.
Cookie's home tab is definitely the first thing to do
Cookie's Home tab? Is that a rom or what?
How about the keyboard, is there anything to change that, like get rid of the arrows?

CHT is a cab. That is actually built into a lot of the ROMs you will find. If you like the HD2 interface then I would just say get Kumar's Classic ROM which would probably be the same as what you have now. Only difference is it has some of the tweaks already included in it like modifications of the registry as well as CHT but it lacks all the bugs that the factory O/S has. From there you can find out what tweaks it doesn't have and then add the CABs to it like the HD2 Memory Tweaks or whatever other stuff.
The fact that you like the factory HD2 interface doesn't mean you can't find an updated ROM that looks just like the factory O/S.
Hey guys.
I'm a little confused about Android on the HD2. I've done a little research, but haven't found full answers, could someone clear this up for me a little bit? Sorry to sound like a idiot, I'm just getting in to ROM's and stuff.
1. Is there a FULLY Working Android ROM, with no lag etc. for the HD2, If so, what version is it? If not, what's missing, and will it effect usage majorly?
2. Do you have to ROOT it first, or just use a Bootloader, as I only really know about Rooting on Android, and is it easy to ROOT A HD2?
3. If I do put Android on there, is it easy to revert back to Windows mobile, and if I keep changing the ROM, will it damage the phone?
I'll be getting one on T-Mobile UK If that helps.
Thanks to anyone who can help

there are many threads with guide and faq... however:
1. there is 90% "working" android rom... you can check it out the builds, i use darkstone HD2Froyo_V2.1 and I like it... on top of rom topics chef explains what works and what doesn't work.
2. just use a Bootloader, rom is already rooted
3. you don't delete winmo, android starts on sdcard after winmo starts (haret.exe). you don't need to flash any.
sorry for my english
try to read faq & guide threads for instructions

Oh okay, so its sort of like Dual-booting then? And is there a guide for using the Bootloader etc?
And, if I just removed the SD Card, would it boot in to Winmo? And are people still making Android ROM's for the HD2?
Thanks
Your phone will automatically boot into windows whenever you reboot your phone unless you have a dualboot program installed and then you get asked the option.
i've been running the darkstone HD2Froyo_V2.1 android rom also and i like it too, although i still primarily run my HD2 in windows and just goto android for some of the apps and have a look about in the market etc...
Its an awesome feature and has made the HD2 which i already loved, just plain awesome...
So this ROM that you're both talking about, does it have calls, texts etc? Anyone got a list of what works and what doesn't?
Also, how hard is the Dual boot program to install?
The dual boot program is a .cab, so its retarded easy to install.
Yes, calls and texting work. But you'll get a robot voice unless you flash your WM to a cooked rom.
I'm also using darkstone's froyo w/ sense. Its the only version that has proven to provide me with consistent stability, and I currently use it as my primary o/s. Granted its not as smooth as mattc leo 1.6, it has yet to give me a SOD or lock up on me. The battery drain was too rediculous for me at first, but I flashed my radio to 1.11 and it's been great ever since.
Minor drawbacks: screen will lag from time to time (small 3 second freeze, easily fixed by lock/unlock), 3 mp camera is a bit of a set back, and the Facebook integration is limited to the people you've only recently become friends with v/s your old friends.
For me, these are minor set backs. I came from an iPhone, so WM felt limited in some areas that Android has let me feel free in again! (Both great os's though)
You're going to have to play around with it to get the best personal results.
Check out some of the threads talking about different combinations.
Good Luck!
I was going to to grab the spoon.
But it seems that everyone has done it for me. Take a look around.

Wow, thanks for all your help. Do you know if there are several guides for all these? I'm not to experienced with all these :/
There's literally a *how to* guide stickied on the android forum. Don't get how all these noobs keep missing that. It literally tells you everything step by step... Like seriously...
Have any of the developers ever come out with or began work on a completely custom build? it seems like all the builds are basically ports with tweaks here and there. I dont have the programing knowlege or know how but i think it it would be cool to have the menu load from the side or drop down from the top. things like that would be cool, and i would be willing to use my artistry skills to help develop icons, menus, etc. I'm not saying i dont appreciate all the work any of the developer have done on the current builds available, I am just wondering.
I think that's because they have enough to do to get Android running on a HD2? They don't want to spend their time for such things. At the moment their working on the NAND anyway.
But if you really want to have a real custom build you should have a look in the developement forum and search for coffee shop or something like that. It's a tool to do some work on the UI and enables you to do such things as you asked for I think.
[Q] A MIUI ROM with multi-lingual T9 support? (aka. "I can't find the ROM for me")
Hello everyone.
I keep playing around with my phone, trying all sorts of ROMs. As you can read in my sig, the "main" ROM I use is WinMo6.5 Energy, which, as far as WinMo ROMs go, is pretty darn sweet.
But I'd really REALLY like to give NAND Android a go.
Unfortunately, every version I try seems to have something missing, and I'm having a hard time finding one that's "just right". Especially since the features I'm looking for aren't at all so bizarre I think.
Sense ROMs lack "cleanliness" due to the graphical glitches. I know it's not the chefs fault, but until HTC kindly releases the source code, I think I'd rather stay clear of those.
Typhoon Cyn ROMs are smooth and fast, but the really interesting loader features require me to make a purchase. It's not an expensive application, but I'm a "try before you buy" sort of person. I can't really tell if I'd like to use it unless I keep using it on my phone for a few days first.
And finally, there's MIUI ROMs, which are awesome except for one, main thing: they lack a localized T9 dialer. I'm from Poland, and as you could expect, I've got a bunch of people in my contacts list who have weird letters like Ś or Ł in their names and NOT being able to dial their numbers (EDIT: dial their numbers "quickly" I should add) is a huge problem.
The only thing I found so far is this: http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?7898-MOD-Multilanguage-T9-dialer-(ES-RU-GR-PL)
However, this doesn't seem to work: it installs fine, and then... nothing. An earlier version of this mod, which required manual install via recovery, DID enable the T9 dialer, but one of the main settings app would constantly FC afterwards.
There's also a small matter of MIUI ROMs having trouble with the theme manager and no smooth "flip" animation. Both of these are minor complaints however.
So... the question I'm laboriously trying to get to is this: Is there a MIUI ROM for the HD2 which would have a multilingual T9 dialer buil-in? If not, has anyone managed to get that mod working with any recent MIUI ROM on XDA and if so, how? Finally, perhaps some kind soul read my post and thought "ahh, I know exactly what this lad needs"... in which case, please share this knowledge.
