Hi, I changed the rom to the energy rom recently, but I seem the original keyboard and chinese writing system is the best. Who can help me? I want to install again the original keyboard ar!
I was looking for the solution but couldn't find one. Now i have CM6 rom on my tattoo and seems that there is only one keyboard type when writing sms which is qwerty. When i bought the phone i remember that there was opportunity to change between qwerty and normal mobile phone keyboard type ( i dont know how it is called). My question is: Is it possible to change the keyboard type in this rom ? Or maybe there is a software or something like that to do that ? Thanks.
I suppose you have SPQRom installed. This rom has android keyboard, but the stock htc rom has Touch input, which suppord different keyboard types.
You can use this keyboard in SPQRom. It's called htc_ime and you can find it on stock htc rom. You can just install it. For me works fine.

Thanks. But it keeps crashing all the time... as soon as i choose new input method i get forced closure of the program.. Maybe it doesnt work on tattoo ?
Strange, cause I'm using this rom(0.4.1 version) and I've installed several times above file, and I never had problems. In fact today, after a restore, I installed it again and works fine.
I recently started using a new rom which I really like, but there was a certain keyboard type on the previous rom I was using that I liked a LOT better. I've been able to dump the rom and I've found the XML file for the keyboard but I'm unsure what to do after this point. Anyone have any ideas?

I want to extract the keyboard layout from my danish desire z and then apply it to the stock g2 rom.. is that possible ? i have read the the apk file im looking for is supposed to be named com.htc.android.htcime but i cant find it in /system/app

I managed to root my tattoo, with many thanks for users palimpala and wormix500. Currently running on ROM nFinityGB 0.93.
Is there a BIG BIG keyboard for the tattoo which we can use on this ROM? Can we put the file into sdcard and install? After root there is no more Android Marekt in the Tattoo.

No Android Market? Did you flash the gapps package? You need to do that.
Regarding the keyboard, you can look for HTC IME for Froyo and Gingerbread in the Android Development section. Download the .apk file and copy it to the SD card. Install it by tapping the file name in the file manager of the phone.
I recommend you MessagEase. A lil' bit unusual, but very handy after you get used to it.
I dont know about big big keyboard but you need to flash the gapps package as sunitknandi said.
