I bought an Samsung Galaxy S i9000 in HKG. Unfortunately I only realize when arriving back home that the phone language can only be UK or US English or Chinese and Korean.
Is there a way to flash the phone in order to allow Eoropean languages to be selected (English, german, italian, french...).
My phone is Korean made and has Baseband version ist I9000ZSJPE/Build nr. FROYO.ZSJPD / Android 2.2. No simlock.
Do anybody have a description or an advise where to find?
Go to samfirmware..com, get your firmware and Odin from there, install the usb drivers and get ready to flash.

You do *not* need to root or S-OFF the phone to do this. Just grab MoreLocales 2 from the marketplace, and choose the locale you want (in my case, English/NZ).
Yeah if you only want the languages settings, just download more locales.
hi to all from saudi arabia
i buy a galaxy tab from uk last week
and its in english and i recive many thing in arabics like email and sms
i use the market in the device and download an arabic keyboard and its ok
i search for app thats make me read arabic from the device and i didn't find
i also search for app to add an arabic layout or font to my GT and also didn't find
i hear that there is an arabic rom for that
any one can help me in that?
thanks
Hi there. There is an Arabic ROM, from samfirmware.com, firmware > Android > Galaxy Tab > P1000JPJJ2
I havn't flashed it yet, but wouldn't advise doing it without some knowledge and experience in flashing mobile devices in general. I came from N1 and the Odin stuff can easily brick your Tab.

The upgrade should be appearing and flashing via Kies, if it did not Odin is the only way and its not that hard or critical (did mine that way)
Sorry if this has been asked already,
I have recently gotten a tab from the UK but found out that it does not display Arabic text on websites or emails and i have seen the ones from the middle east versions do display the.text properly, is there any way i can make it display the Arabic font without having to flash the device? Otherwise, anyone got newbie steps for.flashing and the latest version of firmware? Would i get to keep the Samsung apps and Samsung movies?Apps
Sadly, from my experience, the only way to get full Arabic readability is via flashing.
I have the same pb. My ROM is XXJME
and I would like to flash the JKJK2 but I am getting an error each time...
and I am forced each time to re-flash the XXJME
Ok, you need to flash to JPJK2 this supports Arabic and you can get it on samfirmware

Go to samfirmware.com there you'll find roms (official). Search here in the forum for a flashing guide...
ok i have just found the flashing guide.
i forgot to ask about the CSC. i have a diffrent windows mobile samsung (omnia lite b7300) and when i flashed this for the first time i never knew about the CSC.
my question is this. i assume flashing one package will also flash the CSC, and on the winmo omnia lite the CSC had details of the operators that the data settings are automatically recognised for.
is this the same for android devices and if so does anyone have a UK English CSC for the i5800 or is there any way i can back it up and reflash or am i just worrying about nothing
thanks for your help
Well if you're asking that if you flash one package, it will also flash the csc? Probable and if you want a csc for i5800 just download jpf.
yeah looks like JPF has a english CSC.. hope it has provider settings for the uk lol.
am gonna go try flash when the firmwares downloaded hopefully il be ok.
thanks everyone for your fast replys
anyone got any english i5800 roms with CSC included before i smash it out of frustration. loved this phone before this
found the language option but i still need a english uk default rom or csc because of service proivider settings and when i hard reset
Well download a rom from here and flash and you should be on froyo in the u.k and if not try finding an XW rom

*#272*imei#

Hi @all,
i have a question according the correct image to flash.
I have a Xoom from the USA with CDMA (it was a gift).
I'm living in germany and normally it is no problem to use the xoom with english language. But some apps turn their language automatically to english (acc. the OS language) and there is no option to turn it to german.
So now I want to flash a european image, but which one?
Is this one correct and do I have to flash the verizon update, too?
Thanks in advance

This is not my area of expertise but a more informative post title might help you get attention from someone who knows about this area.
OK, changed the post title
If you dont need "root" but just german language as default locale, then go with official motorola roms.
I have flashed many of the motorolla official roms, on the US Verizon 3G Xoom, and they all worked (without GSM/UMTS obviously!)
http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/
You can pick the German retail one..
if you select the UMTS version, it will ocasionaly get some error msgs, related with the lack of UMTS hardware (you have CDMA) but without creating any usage problems.
If you select the wifi only version, you will have no error msgs..
Follow moto instructions and you will be fine, but DO NOT "fastboot oem lock" the device at the end!
