Hello,
I have a new desire z that i got off ebay (from HK) and after starting it up i can only select english singapore, or thailand etc etc.
How can i get a US rom on it? Do i have to root it?
Thanks
Yup rooting then s-off ..look in our android development section for Gtrab thread

You do *not* need to root or S-OFF the phone to do this. Just grab MoreLocales 2 from the marketplace, and choose the locale you want (in my case, English/NZ).
Yeah if you only want the languages settings, just download more locales.

Hey, sorry if this has already been posted on how to change language, but i have some specific questions i would like to ask.
1) I bought the Touch HD from Taiwan and the language of it is Traditional chinese, i was actually thinking that it was an international phone and would have several languages to choose from... but apparently not.
How would i go about changing the language from chinese to english?
What would i have to do?
2) If i change the language, do i lose everything that is currently on my phone?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
You could just flash a new Rom, it will change the phone to that Rom and replace what you currently have, a lot of Roms have the same stuff just tweaked for better performance so you would not lose much.
That is assuming your not on a phone carrier plan of course, check out the different roms to suit what you want
This phone was bought outright so im assuming im not carrier locked (Kinda hard seeing as im in australia and it was bought in taiwan )
So i would have to use HardSPL?
There are two options to do it there are excellant directions for both in the ROM section I used HardSPL but the choice is yours
I bought an Samsung Galaxy S i9000 in HKG. Unfortunately I only realize when arriving back home that the phone language can only be UK or US English or Chinese and Korean.
Is there a way to flash the phone in order to allow Eoropean languages to be selected (English, german, italian, french...).
My phone is Korean made and has Baseband version ist I9000ZSJPE/Build nr. FROYO.ZSJPD / Android 2.2. No simlock.
Do anybody have a description or an advise where to find?
Go to samfirmware..com, get your firmware and Odin from there, install the usb drivers and get ready to flash.

guys need a quick help pls, I do not seems to able to search some apps on my DHD for e.g "imediashare"
while scanning the cr code also do not return the searched app on my market
iMediaShare mobile app for Android :: iMediaShare
but the same is able to be searched on my friend's desire z bought from UK
mine is indian DHD, can anyone who bought their DHD in india try to search this app and scan the cr cde in the link I gave and let me know if u are able to search it pls
and any reason why I am not able to search it...
Got the same problem. Seems that some operator sw versions are not "signed" or registered at Googles database. So some can "see" all apps and some not.
Try to install a free sw version or rom version. Maybe that helps...
what you mean by "free sw version or rom version"
No operator version. try 1.XX.405.X e.g.
mine is an unlocked DHD
What sw do you have on ur DHD?
With ulocked u mean unbranded?
even more frustrating...an app called "mobiesta" which is an indian app, even this is not getting searched in my DHD but same is searched from UK Desire Z
common who can explain this nonsense
I tried to find with my DHD the mentioned apps - with no succes.
But I figured that out before, that not all apps are visible for everyone...
The reason can be that there are different ROM versions and/or the developers has released the app with some country restrictions. E.G. only for Europe, or only for Germany Autria and Switzerland.
Thats why I asked for your ROM Version. If it is a ROM made for a Indian Carrier the DHD goes as an Indian-DHD to the market. The DZ has a UK ROm or a international ROM and is lockes in as a UK or International-DHD and will get other hits when searching the market...
The solution will be either to download the app via the DZ to your PC and install those apps than on your DHD (than you will have no update support) or to flash a UK or international ROM. Same country/provider version like on the mentioned DZ.
mine is indian rom version
can u tell me how to to download the app via the DZ to your PC and install those apps than on your DHD ?
You can try to copy the .apk file and run ist on your dhd in the same folder e.g.
Or try to download it with your pc and to copy it to your dhd...
or go to mobiesta website http://ld2.ciol.com/Gadgets/Applications/Mobiesta/1485/0/102707/Mobiesta.aspx
and follow their instructions...

Ok...
I ve got no clue where in the DZ file system this .apk file is located.
Maybe you can find this out with a file explorer like astro or so...
sorry no idea...
did u search the DZ?
Have you tried market enabler?

Good day to all
so here is my problem i flashed my htc wf, but i forgot to enable unknown sources, no i dont have the super user and busybox on, what can i dao to reroot/reflash it, i read a few forum topics and the best one is to load a new RUU, now im from South africa got the htc from mtn what RUU should i download and load to get 2.1 again and to reroot my phone.
Q2 if i load a stock RUU can i root my phone again or will the root stay that i loaded, also if that is true how can i install super users and busy box manually remember im new to phone modding so a step by step guide will work wonders, i did try and ask on the irc channel but no one is helping me there
regards

Did you try rooting again as it is? Anyhow, you can use a WWE RUU since it doesn;t seem that there are South African RUU's available anywhere at the moment.
yes i tryed to reroot it but the app just hangs on loading recovery module, and im not sure thats why im asking if there is a south african RUU
All RUU's are listed on Shipped ROM's (And some, the Wildfire Android Development Subforum), so, if you don't see it, you are out of luck.
As I said before, try a WWE (World Wide English) RUU.
Im presently using a Wildfire running CM7 in South Africa and just this morning I tried the HTC Buzz froyo WWE RUU... it failed... I guess that means you have to use a gold card?
I updated to 2.2.1 like a retard bit it still works perfect

ZTE Blade will soon celebrate it's 1th birthday and there is still no official update to Android 2.2. So i'm asking: when it will be finally finished? I really can't stand 2.1 (especially a think, that i cannot save my apps on memory card). I know that it was released in Finland, but why there? Why not for exaple in UK (only it may be in engilsh)... I'm really sad about this. So, does anyone know when finally there will be official update?
sorry for my bad English..
thanks, mirko185
With the price being so low in the UK I have my doubts that 2.2 will get released here.
Can someone please point me to a guide on the official 2.2 ROMs which I assume can be installed.
ZTE has released Froyo kernel(2.6.32) source code for the Blade... Check "System Equipment" under front page top "Support" link.
yes, I've already noticed it, but it doesn't helps me anyway... And they have so slow servers, and really non-systematic website..

well, I'm from Slovakia, so I don't know from which from these page I should download it, and, of course, I'm really happy, finnaly it's here! I only want English version, and it should have every of these roms, isn't it?
and, thank really much!
I tryed the Hungarian T-Mobile one, but unfortunately it didn't work for my device, it says that my device has another version. I think it's becouse of my phone is from Slovak Orange. What a shame... :/ But at least I can believe that Orange is finishing their ROM, if T-mobile already has it done (I hope).
thanks anyway.
I have a Spanish Version of the ZTE Blade that is running 2.2. I backed up the rom before I installed a custom rom so if anyone wants a copy of what was backed up by rom manager then let me know and I will see what I can do...As far as I can remember my Blade is version B10. Hope that help someone.
Hi could you post your back up. I don't need the data.img

edit: to get this working I downloaded this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.apedroid.pigfish to make sure my device is gen1
I then downloaded this http://www.wuala.com/peanut_hu/OSF_Blade/ROMs/fonix232/T-Mobile_HU_memory_fix_ROM which is the gen1 t-mobile hungarian eclair rom, you extract this and place this on your blade's sdcard, so sdcard/image/
turn your blade off, hold down volume + and power button, and the blade will flash the eclair rom, after this you need the above t-mobile hungarian froyo rom, http://www.t-mobile.hu/lakossagi/keszulekek/szoftverfrissites/telefon/zte_blade_2 , start your blade in FTM mode, hold volume - and power on device, flash from windows. Let it complete to 100%, all done, now running an official froyo rom
GREAT!! I gonna try this out right now!
edit:well, i relazed my blade is not rooted, so i cannot flash eclear ROM.. is there another way to install this eclear?
edit1: well, I managed to flash the hungarion officila om from T-mobile, but I can't start the phone cousa it's asking me code for unblock networks.. I try to search this out, BTW, If u did the same thing as me, do u have this code too?
The network unlock code is unique for each device.
You can get your code to network unlock your blade for free by typing your phones IMEI number here: http://arrtoo.x10.mx/unlockBlade.php
'Arr Too' over at modaco is hosting this for the blade
My blade has been network unlocked from the first day i got it

yop, mine was unlocked too, but when I flashed a T-MOBILE 2.2 android, it had locked it.. but I unlocked it and everything works like a charm..
